Carol, my daughter was exactly the same - I barely knew I had her for the first couple of months, she slept so much. In the very early days, she must have only been awake an hour or so each day, and that was only because I woke her to feed her.
I was also told to wake her every 4 hours or so if she hadn't woken up to feed. When they're really tiny, their hunger doesn't always wake them up, and then because they are not feeding enough, they become even more tired, and even less likely to wake up for feeds, so it can be a vicious circle......I did get well meaning relatives telling me I was cruel for waking her though... (because clearly, waking her was much more cruel than letting her starve  ).
She's still a good sleeper, so fingers crossed your son will be too."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
I worried about my son too when he slept all day - he is nearly 5 months old now and i am lucky if i get 40 minutes during the day! Make the most of it.
Stress:eek: at the minute. 4 kids at home, trying to wean and give up breastfeeding amongst other things. I know its the wrong time but feel strongly that he is ready for food and that i need to give up feeding myself. Roll on September!!!now mum of 4!!!0 -

Yay - Charlotte is walking now :j
She's still a bit wobbly but she's managing fine. She's also over the moon with a toy pushchair my Mam gave her and she pushes teddy round in it. It used to be mine
Thanks to whoever suggested going to the Body Balance class at the gym. I went for the first time this morning and loved it. It was harder that I expected but the lady said the moves will come with time. Did some deep stretches in my thighs and hips and didn't get any pelvic pain, so I think the SPD has finally healed up :cool:Here I go again on my own....0 -
Yay! Well done Charlotte!
Carol - I remember saying exactly the same thing when my baby slept more or less constantly for the first two weeks. Now at 6 months he sleeps a lot less and wants to be entertained nearly all the time he's awake.0 -

Hi guys
back from holiday at Disneyland Paris which I have to say was great..even OH wants to go back .......although really hot at the weekend/nephew cracked his head open on eurostar going there and my Dad ended up in a wheelchair as problems with his false leg!
What with all that and the preholiday chicken pox scare, we have come home and Henry's cough has come back with a vegence and he's wheezing alot. My sister suggested going to the drs which ended up with a trip to A&E... LO on a nebuliser / chest Xray and returned home with more antibiotics and a ventilin pump!!
Oh so glad to be home !!!!Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0 -
Oh Mazcabs! Hope all the injuries didn't spoil it for you and that LO gets better soon. Not the homecoming you were hoping for
Welcome Carol. Hopefully you're feeling better about baby sleeping so much. You should be too - while you can!
I've tried twice to tempt Imogen to the potty, but, while she tells us when she has pooed and often when she wants to, she hasn't got the hang of doing it on the potty yet. She knows the difference between wet and dry, and between wee and poo, but just isn't keen on doing it on the potty right now. I was hoping I could potty train her this summer, but that's looking unlikely. I'll see how she does in a few more weeks.
We're going away to Portugal in 5 weeks, so perhaps it would be easier to have her still in nappies while we're away, instead of carrying a potty round in a carrier bag :rotfl: :rotfl:
On a different subject, there's the chance of a promotion for me at work, so I need you all to keep your fingers crossed please. If it comes off it would be a job-share management job in the team I'm in, which is my dream job. I'm just waiting to see what's decided about another girl coming back from maternity leave as it is this which could create the opportunity. I'd have to interview for it, so it isn't a done deal, but it would be so fantastic if it came off. Should know early next week. :wall:
Imogen's at my mum's on her holidays from today until Saturday. It feels a bit weird without her, but I'm soooo looking forward to a lie-in on Thursday and Friday when I'm not at work :TMSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
