Hi all
Has been such a busy few weeks, we've been on holiday (it rained for most of it), I've been told I'm being made redundant (I'm the bread winner), I've spent the last couple of weeks attending interviews and speaking to agencies, although it does mean I've been able to spend loads of time with Rhys, which has been lovely, but its going to be strange when I do find a job and have to start working again for both of us, especially as I only went back a few months ago originally.
He finally cut his first tooth yesterday not bad considering he's 11 months and 12 days, top one as well, looks like the one next to it is going to be next so 2 top teeth and no bottom teeth at this rate.
He's also started screaming when you don't pay him any attention for a while (like a couple of minutes) when we are out and about or he's in his highchair between mouthfuls. Its really embarressing when we are out, we've tried saying and signing no, and ignoring it, but so far nothing has worked. Anyone any ideas??0 -

I have no idea if it's normal, but DS has been like that since he was younger. We keep him right up to the table during meals, and involve him in the conversation (well he thinks he is!). I generally use a hip sling for quick trips out, so he is closer to my face and can see what's going on. I used to make a real fuss of him when he was being good - even if it's just for the calm during taking a deep breath for another scream...:rotfl: . I'd also comment to DH how good Ds was being, DH would agree and clap and praise DS - we have no shame in being completely OTT (at home anyway!)
Now, he's much much better - his signing really started to kick in around 15 months and is improving all the time. He also has learned that 3 days a week at nursery he has to share with other kids. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -

welsh-when my son used to have awful temper tantrums because we were busy i would tell him on his level that right now i couldnt do what he wanted to and he could carry on crying but i was going to ignore him did this when we were out aswell eventually he would give in.granted people would make comments and say things like "i would just smack him" to which i replied "go on then but it wont make any difference he'll still scream at you" they soon shut up when faced with a toddlers bottom.one woman actually praised me once for standing up to other judgemental people.
purplepatch-congrats on your job,i dont know if this will help but my childrens teacher told me that children that go to a nursery or interact with children at a childminders etc are easier to settle in to school and learn quicker wether this is true or not im not sure but she did know that one of my kids had gone to a nursery and the other hadnt with out being told.
becles-im glad im not the only one in this situation,my kids have picked up that daddy isnt around now and keeps letting them down.they were told by thier "real" dad that he would be getting a house soon and they could live with im and now they ask all the time when they are getting thier new house but he has no intention of moving from where he is now as he doesnt pay any bills or rent etc he can do as he wants drink as much as he wants smoke as much as he wants etc,so we are having to explain to the kids it might be a long time before the new house.he hasnt worked for well over 8 years and suddenly every time me and hubby see him its him saying its alright for us that dont work we have an easy life which he knows isnt true and hes saying in front of the kids with a huge smirk so they turn to him because he can now afford to take them places and spoil them and we cant right now its so annoying considering we still are haviong to pay bills that he left when he lived with us lol.sorry for the rant just cross u can help someone out have it thrown in your face and have them act like they are better than you grr.riley john born june 28th 2.35pm-8lb14.5 hour labour from waters to birth.0 -
Do we share the same ex honeybe21?
Just be there for the bairns and pick up the pieces when they get let down. Don't lie or cover up for him, but also don't slag him off either. Once the bairns get a bit older, they'll sharp work it out for themselvesHere I go again on my own....0 -

That is probably chloasma, I got that on my body with DD1. It fades after the baby is born so I would suggest she just puts up with it for the time being and covers it up with a good foundation and uses a sunblock to stop it getting worse. I tried a cream called fade out which is supposed to help but I didn't notice any real improvement.0 -
feeling immensely guilty but after almost 5 months of breastfeeding plus 1 formula feed, i have decided to give up. disappointed in myself as really wanted to wait until after school hols but have decided to stop now, particularly guilty as i fed my other son til 7 months. never really found it an enjoyable thing to do and as i am weaning my son now think it would be a good time. he feeds little and often and so it is getting me down a bit. I am going to invest in some bottles tomorro and wean my son of the breast over about 2 weeks, leaving the first morning feed til last. need to buy a milk powder dispenser and bottles but struggling to find anything reasonably priced. is there much difference in quality of bottles when buying avent or something like boots own? Any advice anyone? does anyone make up 24 hours of bottles like it used to be recommended to or do you make them up as you need them as this sounds like a right faff?
quick question, does anyone give their bottlefed babies cooled boiled water to drink as well as their formula?
any tips on weaning too? done it 3 times before but to be honest i feel like a real novice. i have pureed and frozen some veg. i have had my son on baby rice at lunch for 2 weeks and now am on some baby porridge for breakfast and pureed veg at lunch which he is not keen on. not sure how i am going to cope with a tea meal as we are never at home, always trailing of to gym, swim, football, etc.

My Mam was telling me about one of the GP's she works with.
She was heavily pregnant, and had noticed a few minor twinges, but they were not regular and not painful so she just assumed they were Braxton Hicks. She was sitting with her husband watching TV and all of a sudden felt a sudden urge to poo. She went upstairs, sat on the loo and delivered the baby within seconds
They called the paramedics and were taken to hospital for a check up, but both were fine so they were allowed to go back home.
How scary is that?!Here I go again on my own....0
