Chocaholic all I can say is keep trying but try not to panic or he will pick up on it and it will become an issue.
My LO stopped taking supplement bottles at around 4.5 months and I introduced solids at 5 to take the pressure off the feeds. He still wont take a bottle but as he's on solids it's not so urgent and I can work around it when I need to be out (not working but am a student part time).
My advice would be to get a training cup and start 'playin' with it. ds started by chewing on the spout and eventualy realised that water/milk comes out and started drinking. This way at least you know he can have a little drink.

aww choc he sounds like my son he could easily cry for hours once he cried non stop screaming ear shattering crying for 6 hours.that was when we trying to get him to sleep on his own it was torture thankfully everynight after it got less and less.he also would not eat but eventually when we wouldnt give in he did eat it.all i can say is keep trying no matter how much he cries he will eventually eat something babies will not starve themselves.once he realises u wont give in he will eat it but if u give in he will see if he cries hard and long enough he will get what he wants.some people dont agree with this but ive found it to be true with my other 2.

it will be another week or 2 before we can get another appt luckily i have great kids i explained we wont get to see thier sports day but will be taking them school(my hubby usually takes them)and we both will be picking them up and looking at thier school work thats been displayed.

  • Honeybe - As long as you were married at the time of babies birth your hubby can go and register him on his own - this will leave you free to watch your LO's sports day and you dont have to wait 2 weeks for next appointment.:p

oh, also I do agree that he'll eat or drink if he was realy thirsty or starving. We had to go along with that for a while as ds went off the bottle just before I had exams and had to be out more often. He was so stubborn that he did not had anything to drink when I was out. Apart from a little bit of constipation he was fine.

OH has woken the broody monster in me so i've come off the pill and we'll see what happens, race you Lu T

Steady on! We're not actively TTC yet. But as a word of warning, fertility returns instantly after an implant is taken out (not like with the pill where it can take a while to return). We conceived Imogen the first time we tried. It went like this:

    Weds - implant out
    Fri - period arrived
    Sun - went on hols
14 days later - returned from hols pregnant

Now do you want to race?!:rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm hoping for a summer baby next year, so I'm happy just being pregnant by Xmas.

Sorry Choc - not got any advice other than keep persevering. You could always try baby-led weaning. I'm not an expert but plenty of others on here are. It's where you let baby pick things off your plate to suck/explore and they eventually start eating. I could be wrong, but get the impression that this method means they rely on milk for longer as they don't get much nutrition from food for a while. Sorry if this is wrong - I'm sure a BLW expert will correct me if it is!

Imogen was always a good eater and on 3 meals a day from about 7 months. She still had the recommended 20oz of milk, but we had to bring her down to this as at the start she was on 45oz plus three two-course meals a day

It does depend on the baby (I have heard of babies who've been on three meals a day within days) but yes on average it probably does mean they are dependent on milk for longer. Alice only really started actually properly eating (as opposed to the odd token bit accidentally going down) at 10 months which was after three months of BLW. It does also depend on how you do it though as I always gave her milk first whereas if you gave the solids to them whent hey were more hungry they might learn quicker.

On going back to work, I worked out before we were TTC Alice that if you had one child and worked full time and had to pay for childcare (basing it on figures that other people said they were paying) that you would have to earn about £12k just to break even. This was taking into account childcare, tax, national insurance and loss of tax credits. The figures are probably different now and will depend on how much your childcare costs but the system does seem to make it more worthwhile to stay at home.

It will actually be worth my while as would be earning £30k full time - I'm only going back 3 days a week though so only £18k. Plus I do love my job (if not the management!). Even better I get the school holidays off - though I do have to go in somedays to do preparation.

I do keep thinking he will eat when he's hungry. He has taken an occasional bottle from OH so it's not like he can't do it- I just feel for my poor mum. It's not nice when he screams for hours! Honestly, you would think I'd never had a baby before - but I've never had one like this one. My other two had obviously read all the baby textbooks; I think Tom didn't bother!

I was on the pill and my monthlies is just finishing so we'll see what happens, although I fell pregnant within 2 months last time, what am i letting myself in for! At least with your first you don't realise how bad morning sickness is, how tired you get, labour etc until its too late but I have no excuse with the second other than Charlie is cute so makes me broody!

Talking of the monster he gave me a damn heart attack yesterday, he was happily playing with toys on the floor whilst I was ironing, no problem I thought. Looked over at him and he's stood up!! How the bloody hell did that happen lol!! Now he's pulling himself on everything, even found him standing up in his cot this morning. (looked cute but thats not the point!) He wants to start walking and I don't want him to!!He doesn't crawl so I'm enjoying the putting him down and him still being there a few minutes later!!

can i ask do any of the breastfeeding mothers here have babies who have incredible difficulty passing wind? my baby doesn't really burp, only once or twice a feed usually and his wind all seems to come out down below but most days he's really really uncomfortable when pushing it out and sometimes he screams when he's trying. I asked the health visitor but she just said it was normal and he'd grow out of it but thats not much help at the minute. I'm giving him infacol (thats the only thing she suggested) but i'm not sure if it's really working. any suggestions would be really appreciated.

    Hi everyone!
I've been away for three weeks and have a lot of catching up to do, but I hope you're all well.
We had a rather tiring holiday with family, where Joseph got doted on by aunties and cousins. Of course they fed him constantly (he MUST be hungry) and rocked him to sleep (nobody paid any attention to my pleas on this) and played with him incessantly.
So much so that I have brought a rather grumpy little monster back home. He won't sleep on his own, won't eat his usual food, is whinging constantly, can't be left alone... On top of that he's got a cold again, must be teething and has learnt to crawl, pull himself up and cruise - which the house is not ready for.
    I need a holiday....
