i'm feeling fed up today and fancied a moan ! we just came back off holiday and i feel like i need another one! i would really love to go away by myself for a weekend just to relax and gather strength. my DH is at work all day and i don't think he realises how hard tooking after a toddler can be. don't think i'll get one of those though!!0

Hi my son is now 4 months old. my other 3 children were weaning at this stage. i am breastfeeding and he feeds very regularly so can't really use this as a guide to see if he is ready for solids. he is taking a great interest in food when i eat now and he is also quite big at 16.6 lbs.
was wondering how many babies can hang on til 6 months as recommended. 6 months would be ideal for me as easier over the summer when it's school hols. i know you should ytalk to your health visitor - after 4 kids i tend to take what they say 'with a pinch of salt' and go with my instincts. really want to wait but not sure what to do.
regarding fainting - i had low blood pressure in my last pregnancy and felt faint often - i used to carry some glucose tablets and water round with me for emergencies. if its hot stay out of the sun and wear loose fitting clothes, dont stand up too quickly or rush around - that sort of thing.
also having suffered pnd before and currently receiving treatment for ocd i am finding things really hard at the and not looking forward to the school hols one bit. trying to be happy but things are so hard - always think the worst. any advice or words of wisdom to get me through the summer!now mum of 4!!!0 -
3kids, I'd say if you're happy to wait a bit longer, and the baby seems happy, then why not wait. I can imagine that it would be easier not to faff about with purees when you have 3 other kids to look after during the summer! :rotfl:
I have read somewhere that the fact that people say someone is a big baby so needs weaning earlier is a myth (I think it was the Kellymom website). My two have certainly been very big (especially DS2) and MIL was panicking that I was starving them because I didn't want to put them on baby rice at 3 months or something ridiculous   , but breastmilk is perfect for big babies too and will fill them up better that some apple or something.
I weaned mine at 4.5 months because they were ready, not because of their size, and most babies I know were weaned at some point between 4 and 6 months, so there's no rule about it. I would just take it one day at a time and see how it goes.0 -
3kids-start saving empty boxes and cartons kitchen roll tubes anything shiny so u can have a making things day and let the kids make anything they like mine love to do this at school.we also have a small kids recipe book with things to make like hunny bunny bread basically bread with butter on with honey cooked in the grill in the shape of a bunny or whar ever shaped cutter u have.u could try a paint day outside a big piece of paper and lots of paint.can be lots of fun and since its outside mimimal clean up.its harder for ppl with ocd because holidays kind of equal mess.perhaps try and mentally prepare yourself try and leave a dirty dish on the side for as long as possible i did things like that to deal with mine though mine wasnt severe.
my midwife has been out my concerns have been confirmed i have an infection and needs to be treated asap i suspected it because my belly hasnt shrunk and is starting to hurt again and i feel more tired than i thought i should my uterus has shrank from 9-6 1/2 in a weekglad its been caught early though.riley still has jaundice bit annoyed the other midwife didnt pick up on this on friday.

Oh yes, I just remembered that the AAP says "about six months" and that this can be "as early as four or as late as nine months" which implies a significant variation.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

I didn't start until seven months and even then she didn't really need it. I did BLW and it was only at ten months she started to actually eat so up till then she was living just on breastmilk. Of course all babies are different so just because mine lasted that long doesn't mean anyone else's can or should.
7 months here too - again BLW.The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
Confession time, am I the only one who still has 'pregnancy brain'? I am seriously stupid nowadays to the bemusement of OH. A friend of mine said she felt a bit dozy for 18 months after baby (), what are your experiences?
To be fair it is getting better - a few months ago I found it hard to count to 5, 6, 7 - milk scoops whilst making Joseph's bottles. Now it's just little things like how do the vacuum bags work when a hoover blows? Or recent fave - there came a point in my life when I couldn't immediately identify right from left - so have been using the trick of making L shapes with your fingers - the L stands for left, but now I find myself unable to remember which way round the letter L goes, so still have to think about it. *sigh*:wall:0 -

I took mumomega capsules for the last trimester of my pg, and for the 9 months I was managing any sort of breastfeeding. I never felt like this and I think that's down the capsules. I know a lot of my friends felt the same as you though. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -

completely sympathise - i was teaching my 4 yr old niece her letters and was telling her she was doing her b's the wrong way round. she wasn't. and my mother in law was there and i felt so thick. also you know the way you say good boy and congratulate you child for bringing wind up (well i do anyway) the other day i congratulated myself. mmmm, may be time to start exercising my brain again!DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY
