Hi guys, this is my first post in the parenting club!! My little grace is 9weeks old now, still bf her, really didnt fancy it at all, but going really well, thankfully! Anyway a little off topic, nut the hv mentioned that you can now receive free over the counter items for the baby, once you have registered at a pharmacy. Went last week and did this, was given calpol and some teething gel, pharnasist was just going on her lunch so wasnt too interested in speaking to me. Wondered if any of you know exactly what you can get on this minor ailments list????0

lyns it depends on your area, but in my area its:
hayfever
teething
thrush
headache/fever
cough
headcold
sore throat
constipation
oral thrush
diorreha SP?
plus a few more i can't remember, (i actually administer this service as part of my job) it has the same exemptions as a prescription so you will be able to use the service till your mat exempt card runs out0 -
by the way calpol and teething gel shouldn't be used until your child is 3 months, calpol can be used from 2 months but only for vaccination fever and then only 2 doses of 2.5ml each. you shouldn't have got them on the scheme at such a young age. you were lucky, i wouldn't have given them!!0

Hi lynsiloo, DH, Poppy and I are registered at my local Superdrug for the 'Care at the Chemist' scheme. Poppy has had Calpol (well, their own brand!) on a few occassions when she had her needles and also Sudocrem (the real brand!). I have had a few things for colds too. I mentioned the scheme on this thread before but I'm sure its only available in certain areas.
Have a look at this:

thanks for the tips you guys. i'm almost healed now after perservering, but i can see why people give up so quickly. I had my parents and DH say to me just give up, particularly when i was crying as he was feeding, and DH is normally very supportive but couldn't bear to see me in pain like that.
Well today is my baptism of fire - the first day alone with both boys without any hope of another person to support me until the weekend. It hasn't been too bad apart from if DS1 has hurt himself, and then he wants to sit on my knee and hits the baby if he is on. I don't know how you get around that. I am just grateful DS1 still has a 3 hour kip every afternoon as that has been a sanity saver.
I've not done too badly anyway, we have all been fed very healthily, and i managed a bit of housework. I was thinking to myself though, i can meet both boys needs, but i am struggling with their wants. I keep feeling guilty that i am not spending enough time playing with DS1. I suppose it will all come in time though.

The annoying thing is, the mum's needs and wants are at the bottom of the list of priorities, aren't they...
Anyway, you sound like you're doing brilliantly. :T (Housework, what's that then? :rotfl: )0 -

Just been to drs about LO's dry skin as suggested by HV and all they gave me was E45 on prescription but at least I didnt have to pay for it...Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0 -
It's not quite the same as having another child but I've got a 2 year old lab and I sometimes feel he gets left out. But Ellie is starting to take a lot more notice of him so he better look out once she is on the move lol, then he'll be wishing he was being left out as he won't get a minutes peace!!!
Regards dry skin Ellie had bad dry skin/baby acne and dr said to use Avent Magic cream and it is really gd I actually use it on my face every day 2!!Everyone is entitled to their opinionEllie 25/12/070
