  • Congratulations on your baby:j we have a Joshua 6mths old now 10lb 11oz at birth now alot more!! and a 5 yr old girl who was 8lb 8oz and a boy 7 who was 8lb 6oz. Thankfully Joshua sleeps through the night and has done since he was 3wks old i read in a book when pregnant with first child that once they slept through the night not to feed them again and have done that with all 3 they didnt seem bothered but i did use a dummy though for the first 1 and a half years but they both put them under their pillows for the dummy fairies to take away with no fuss at 18 mths:j
I miss my mum every minute of every day  R.I.P xx
  • great thread, i have a baby in my arms too, so typing is slow.

new mum again, pls can u elaborate more on that sleeping thro the night thing, do u mean even if they revert back to night time waking and crying and screaming not to give a bottle? how do u pacify a hungry baby?

My son is 6 weeks and we are nowhere near going through the night....I wish cos i'm so tired. Realistically aren't i looking at 3-4 months or more??

The three of us all have colds at the moment, which is making our little ones sleeping worse as he is so snuffly. Most things to help him are all 3 months+

Yes - more info from newmum on the sleeping through thing would be great.

We had a bad night last night, mistakenly had baked beans for tea (just didn't think!) and she was up for 3 hours screaming. Had previously had relatively good nights with 2 or 4 hours sleep at a stretch, not bad for a week old.

Any tips on how to deal with bad wind gratefully received, we just took it in turns rubbing her back and comforting her.

On breastfeeding tops, I found a site called Mamaway which does them at reasonable prices. Think I'll take the tip about the vest tops though and see how I get on.

    hi
ruben just had a bad cold as well and we just steamed him ( took him into the bathroom when having a shower and raised the end of his cot he has been a bit grumpier but is fine now.

with wind I found that a tip I icked up from here really worked to sit him on my lap and support his head with one hand (like you are strangeling him) and run two fingers up and down over his spine works every time for us. we aksi tried infacol but it was a waste of money as it did nothing I also tied drinking cammomile tea and I think it made a difference.

  • I'll try that tip Ziggi, I already support my little lad under the chin and rub his back keeping him as upright and straight as possible. I'll give the spine thing a go. He has a hard time with his wind, infacol helps a bit but only to a point.

These babies eh? They don't come with manuals and even if they did they wouldn't have read the relevant chapters!!!

I just popped over from the pregnancy club ask a quick question. Has anyone got any experience with the Grobag Egg Thermometer.

I want to know if there worth buying?

My daughter bought one, but after using it for the 1st couple of weeks she says she doesn't usually bother plugging it in now. She wishes she hadn't bothered with it.

Rather than buy an 'Egg Thermometer' I would recommend a baby monitor with a thermometer in it. That way you can tell if the room is getting too hot/cold while you are downstairs!

My midwife said not to bother with thermometers, controversial I know. She said if the room felt okay to you then that was fine and just to keep an eye on baby by touch. We just bought some of the cheap paper-type ones you can stick on the wall, but to be honest we haven't looked at them since she's been here.

What has been worth the money is a nightlight from Bloomin Marvellous. You can adjust how bright it is by just touching it and it also has a fade option which switches the light off gradually. It means I can feed Imogen in bed without waking DH up and we use it as a bedside light too. Think it was about £20, but worth every penny. :money:
