We have had an 'incident' with Natasha's nursery this week (left in a dirty nappy for several hours until her skin blistered and bled because she was being looked after by a work placement student, who 'didn't notice' that she was crying in pain and smelled of poo....) so have had to remove her. I think it will work out for the best though, as she is going to go to my works creche, which is cheaper and is onsite, so I can drop in during the day and make sure she is okay.
That's terrible although having worked in a couple of nurseries I am not suprised about it. (I was a supply teacher but the agency didn't have much work for me and was short of nursery nurses so I did a few days for them in a couple of nurseries.) I guess the creche is likely to be better as they know you could come and check up on them at any time. I hope they give you your money back.

Snaggles - how awful! Have you reported them to the local authority and Ofsted? Doesn't sound like they are able to supervise the placement students properly and more children could be at risk. Glad it'll work out for the best though.

Re nappies - we use Bambineo and Tots Bots fluffles. They are like a teddy bear fabric and literally dry overnight. A couple of hours on a sunny afternoon and they are done. We use paper flushable liners with them, which means they don't get so dirty.

The ones we have fasten with poppers or velcro so could be made to fit a newborn. You'd just need different sized waterproof wraps. Can the Real Nappy Campaign help with info on what your local council does?

www.makesachange.co.uk don't charge for delivery, which makes them similar price, if not a bit cheaper than the others.

Re travel system - we have one lent to us by SIL but found it far too big to take anywhere. Couldn't get anything else in the boot of the car cos it was so big, nightmare in shops, cos it was so big!! And we only used the car seat on the frame about twice. It was really good for going for walks from the house as the suspension was great, so we just kept it for that but it took up half of the extension!

We have an M&P Luna http://www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/search/?query=Luna%20-%20Azure&category=All http://www.babyunique.co.uk/outandabout.asp?subcatid=5 which you can buy adaptors for to fit one of their car seats, but it isn't huge. It fits in the boot of my fiesta with loads of room to spare and has great suspension. Think it's had a revamp since we bought it and you can now buy a carrycot for a newborn to fit on. Thoroughly recommend it. HTH

sounds like a time for injuries.

DS fell down the whole of the stairs today. Luckily other than a bit of a bump on the head, no injuries. I think he rolled like a barrel,

trouble is, he was messing about and wouldn't go upstairs when i needed the loo, and i left him at the bottom thinking he would play with the keys in the door or something like normal, then i heard him follow me up, and he wouldn't come to me and was trying to play peepo by standing up, then ducking. I just couldn't get to him in time.

    Becles hope charlotte heals quickly.

snaggles hope you put a complaint in. That is awful. I don't think they can possibly get round to changing a nappy as quick as we would. Ds has quite frequently had a sore bum which has then been plastered in cream, but if i suspected he had been left for hours i would be kicking up a huge stink. Helps now he is bigger - he actually says to me 'bum' and gets his changing mat out, so hopefully he also tells the staff that work with him.

As for creche on site, it might seem a good idea to pop in during the day, but you might find that impractical. DS gets upset when i leave him, so going back during the day would mean that he would get a 2nd chance to be upset. It is nice though. I could see DS out playing in the playground from my classroom window if i looked out at the right time. hope the decision works well for you.

nappies - i have bought some boots newborn nappies to try. I have been a pampers devotee for DS, with the reason being we do an experiment at school where we take the gel out to see how much liquid it holds, and health and safety regulations mean we can only use pampers. So i thought that a valid reason for only putting them on my baby. But, with 2 in nappies, and for how long a newborn is in a nappy with the number of poos they do, i thought i would try them. I can't afford to keep it up i am afraid, but i will most likely buy pampers again when new baby is bigger and you are more likely to get nappy splitting occuring.

corr - that makes me sound a bit snobby doesn't it, but mothers logic ruling i am afraid.

Has anyone else noticed their kiddies suddenly having bad skin? DS has got really bad flare ups of eczma, and i have changed nothing. Can't think what is causing it.

Yes, DS has had some eczema for the last week or so - for the first time really. I have no idea either, but I thought I read that some kids are sensitive to pollen ??

Has anyone else bought this? if so can I have your opinions please, can't find any reviews and not sure if it's the same as in the M&P's shops.

We have the Pliko - it fits in the Fiesta boot, and I can still put some groceries in too. I would say the Argos one is very good value!:money:

Hi Lu - yes, I've sent a copy of the letter I sent to the nursery to ofsted as well. To be honest, if they had held their hands up and said 'really sorry, we messed up, we'll put measures in place to prevent it happening again', I probably would have been happy(ish) with that, but the raft of excuses they made, all contradicting each other, made me completely lose trust in them, and I couldn't bring myself to leave Natasha there again.

Michelle - good point - if I do call in, it will only be to observe from a distance, because she doesn't like being left either, so no point putting her through it more than once a day.

I believe Pampers make the Boots nappies btw - they're very similar, although the Boots ones do look slightly cheaper. You're not being snobby - you have to do whatever you and your babies are happy with. :)

We bought a M&P travel system from Argos, and I wasn't all that impressed to be honest. It's a nice pram, but we have had to mend it several times (sewing came apart on the hood, the shopping basket and the rain cover). But having said that, she does seem comfortable in it, and it's nice and easy to push.

Charlotte is fine now - thanks everyone for asking. Still got a scab and a bruise but it'll go in time! It's not stopped her flying about all over the place today.

Hope your son is ok cha97michelle. It's a worry but they seem to bounce down stairs more than break when they are babies/toddlers.

Another fan of Tesco nappies here. I buy the ones in green packet which I think are called Baby Essentials, and they've been great on Charlotte.

That's an awful story about the nursery Snaggles. I don't blame you for moving Natasha and looking at the work creche. You'll not settle in work unless you know she is happy.
Here I go again on my own....

I'm too tired to process the info about nappies tonight but thanks a lot.
Just to say I went to the council down town and asked them about nappies and they said they've never heard about anything like that and also they don't have any list of nappy ladies, etc. Our council is just a waste of time:mad: I tried freecycle but no luck.
I've got 15 terry nappies at home so will try to find some plastic pants and will give it a go. If this doesn't work then I'll buy some of the ones you've recommended.
