    Hiya
I am totally with Ziggy on the breast feeding thing. Just stick with strappy tops (get cheap ones from Tesco or something, cause they will get stretched and ruined) and put your normal top over that. I also use lots of muslin cloths to make sure I am well and truely covered in public! I am mummy of two girlies (eldest three and youngest 10 weeks), it works brill for me and most of the time people dont even know that I am feeding!
I also find Tesco nappies are just as good as brand nappies. I was using Asdas own, but then heard bad things about them. I always buy tesco or Asda baby grows. They are dirt cheap, they only get pooed, weed and sicked on, so you dont want to go spending loads on them!

Wholeheartedly agree, I think Tesco's nappies are miles better than branded ones, usually go out of my way to get them, always regret it if I have to buy Huggies or Pampers and can't wait for them to run out.

Another vote for Tescos nappies - they are the best on the market as far as I'm concerned.

We have had an 'incident' with Natasha's nursery this week (left in a dirty nappy for several hours until her skin blistered and bled because she was being looked after by a work placement student, who 'didn't notice' that she was crying in pain and smelled of poo....) so have had to remove her. I think it will work out for the best though, as she is going to go to my works creche, which is cheaper and is onsite, so I can drop in during the day and make sure she is okay.

Someone (I've forgotten who, sorry :o) was asking what first size things people were keeping - we weren't going to keep much until it was pointed out to me that first size outfits often fit dolls, so now we are keeping quite a few little outfits, as I'm sure it wont be long until we have a Baby Annabel or some such thing.

Becles, hope Charlotte is feeling better, and Gazella, gorgeous baby!! :A

Oh goodness, poor Charlotte - how is her eye now ? and little Natasha - I have to say that that is absolutely terrible.

We moved to a house with stairs (our first) when DS2 was 20 months and taught him to go down backwards. He used to slide down at 100m/h :rotfl: . Actually he was born at 100m/h and is still going strong ...

Cloth nappies are few and far between on the high street. You are probably better off getting them on-line, although I did go into a Toys R Us and 'feel' the nappies so that I could decide what I wanted. I then bought them off of ebay. Usednappies.co.uk is good for second hand nappies, but you really should have an idea of what you want because there are so many out there. There are a few other sites for second hand, if you are interested, I'll post the links. It is cloth nappy week this week, so I am sure if you contacted your local council they could put you in touch with local nappy suppliers / reps.

I am off to a weaning talk at a local centre tomorrow. Probably gonna teach me to suck eggs (have DS1 and DS2 obviously on solids), but I'll scout around and see if they have anything on the lines of baby signing and first aid courses. Am doing BLW and so far in the past 3 weeks Samantha has had a serving of carrot, broccolli, apple (x2), melon and clementine. I am trying to hold off proper structured intro of solids because it means I will have to loose 5 points from my WW diet. :o

You may have plenty time yet - I started Alice at 7 months and it was three months before she actually consumed more than the odd crumb which happened to go down.

Charlottes eye doesn't look too bad this morning - just bruised and a scab over the cut. Husband is worried it may leave a small scar. He used to be a amateur boxer, so he's an expert on cuts round the eyes!

I didn't wash her hair last night or let her get the top of her head wet in the bath in case it started bleeding again. That upset her as she missed out on playing her favourite game called "slappy heads". She hands me a soaked flannel and I have to slap it on her forehead so it covers her eyes while saying "bye bye" and she pulls it of giggling while I say "hello" :rotfl:

She's got no fear of water. She keeps leaning forward to put her face under the water for a second. I don't really like that game but I don't want to make too much fuss in case I make her scared of the water. Very close supervision needed in the bath! It makes washing her hair easier though, as I just chuck a beaker of water over her head to rinse it and she doesn't care if it goes on her face.

We were just talking about sliding down the stairs on your tummy a few months ago and laughing. Then husband decided to try it and ended up with carpet burns on his shins  :rotfl:

I've kept all the baby clothes. I bought some of those big vacuum laundry bags and I've got them sorted into a 0-3 months bag, 3-6 months bag and so on. I've put them up the loft ready for the next one! If I wasn't having any more, I think I would just pick out a few favourite things to keep. My Mam kept a beautiful little dress that belonged to me, and Charlotte wore it at my son's Holy Communion and at a wedding we went to.
Here I go again on my own....

Izoomzoom, please do post the links. I've checked my council's website and found nothing. But this is a poor, deprived area and this is not the first time I found out they don't provide what other councils seem to offer.

For the very reason that there are soooo many different types of nappies I was really put off initially and only gave it another thought when I realised how often my baby needs to be changed. So I want to try washable, especially as my mum is with me and can help with all the washing and cleaning. So if you feel some are particularly good (esp for v young babies as mine is 2,5 weeks old) please advice.

I was really surprised with your good comments about tesco nappies as I am very suspicious of own brands like tesco, boots, asda etc but I will try them out as well, even if it's only when we are out and about.

    Thanks a lot

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post but......

Had my eye on the M&P travel system in Argos for a while now - and now that it has another £100 off I'm more than tempted.

Has anyone else bought this? if so can I have your opinions please, can't find any reviews and not sure if it's the same as in the M&P's shops.

Look forward to your help :-)

The cashback scheme in my council seems to be a closely guarded secret. I saw a poster up last year when I was pg, but then when I decided to make a claim, the department in the council's tel number just rang and I could no longer find any current information about it.

I had given up and then saw a poster advertising a competition, and one of the links was to a radio station advertising it, there I discovered the council are in fact giving cash back, so I phoned up and have submitted a claim. Don't know if it will be successful though, because the small print says first 150 applicants only :p in a whole county  .

I really didn't use cloth with DD until she was 3m old. I had so many disposables (and still do) but the poo was going everywhere. Think that new babies just have such explosive poos that it hits the nappy and escapes by the easiest means possible  .

As a 3m baby, DD was using terry squares, which are great as you can fold them to fit anysize baby (newborn to 3y) but they aren't very good at containing poo's. I chose totsbots as my fitted nappy, and mainly use bamboozles, but these take a looooonnnnnnng time to dry. The fluffles / cottons or organic cotton totsbots dry much quicker and I wish I had a few more of these. I did use sz1 to start with (just a few as I had terry squares as well) but have now moved onto sz2. You can use sz2 (by folding them down) on a new baby too, but they will be VERY big and baby will be 'bum up in the air' for a few months :rotfl: .

Motherease wraps are the best too, but then you get all in ones, pocket nappies, slim nappies, stufflables - list is endless (and I don't have any first hand knowledge on them).

    iVillage For Sale

Also try your local freecycle, and netmums nearly new, and possibly even NCT nearly new ????
