HI
been reading with interest about nappies as my 7 week old is always having leaky nappies, especially at night - i have tried lots of different ones and bought some tesco ones yesterday. But last night they leaked loads. Where am i going wrong? i always poke his willy downwards and think that i am buying the right size nappies but they still seem to leak often.
Septemberbaby - congratulations - sorry i am a big late congratulating you. Hope you are feeling well, sounds like you are really enjoying being a mummy, you must be to be expecting again - are you sure its not just because you want to stay on the pregnancy board?;)
Snaggles - you have definitely done the right thing taking your little one out of the nursery - obviously we change our baby's nappies as soon as they need it doing and nurseries aren't going to 'care' as much as we do, but it does sound like they just left your daughter which is terrible.now mum of 4!!!0 -
I don't really give J big food and when I did give him a cooked green bean my SIL told me off (no, really) because he bit a bit off

I'm another Tesco nappy fan (we use green ones). With DS1 I never bought them and was mainly using just Pampers, but I have totally converted now. I read somewhere that Tesco nappies are made by Pampers anyway, and I honestly find them the best. :T0 -
Have to agree - tesco have definately been the best nappies for us too.
Took LO to the baby clinic yesterday as he is soon to be 6 mths only to be told that the daily clinic at my local "super" surgery (4 surgeries in one base) has been cancelled due to workloads  . Pretty annoyed as it is the only baby service I can walk to so am now obliged to drive to the next nearest baby clinic which is only weekly - how on earth am I going to be able to be that organised - I previously would just go whenever the 10am feed was early or late as LO's feeding times don't fit in with local baby activities at all!
However it's lucky I suppose that I didn't have any "need" of the clinic - was just going to see how chunky my little chunky monkey really is:rotfl: .He's getting about loads now through a mixture of rolling and pulling himself forwards and so I'm now dreading the time he can suddenly crawl as the stairgates etc will have to go up and mummy won't be able to leave him for a second (he's pesky enough when I'm with him - currently his favourite hobby is trying to launch himself off things (people, changing table,linky-do chair)Even strapped in he managed to fall out of his baby chair - lucky it's not very high up!
Am really angry with my big ds's dad today - he came to take my big ds to cricket this evening and took him away without me knowing - I spent ten minutes waiting for ds to come back from next doors (have only just started letting him go and come back from there by himself as he is 10 and I am too protective apparantly! ) where he had left some of his things when I went round only to be told he wasn't there - near enough straight away phoned his dad to be told he'd picked him up from outside the house, like it wasn't a big deal - when I am here imagining allsorts !! what a %$£"£$$%%!!
Will be having serious words with ds and his dad when I next see them!!! :mad:MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
Hi All,
Had my first day at work with a poorly baba at home .
Her top 2 teeth are making their presence felt on top of reacting to her 1 year booster.
All she has wanted to do all day is sit on grandma's/dad's lap and be cuddled or sleep, which is not like her at all, she won't sit still for 5 minutes normally walking practice is very important to her.
I finished work half an hour early as I couldn't concentrate, as soon as I came home she was demanding a bf and basically stayed there until going to bed. She did perk up a bit after some Calpol, her temp has been up and down too, she managed a little bit of tea and she's been very unsettled since going to bed she wants her hand held until she goes back to sleep.
Thank god it's Friday, no work tomorrow as it look like it's going to be a long night.
MDWProud to be dealing with my debts

Hope you get some sleep MDW and she feels better in the morning.
Had a dare devil baby today. Was helping her get into a standing position against the sofa, and she kept letting go and trying to walk but flopping down on her bottom instead.
She's been climbing on the dog trying to get a piggy back from him.
Then I was making her milk at bedtime and she was just sitting the hall. In the time it took to put the scoops of milk powder in the bottle and shake it, she was on her way up the stairs! She'd managed to get onto the third stair when I realised and grabbed her.
She was in the bath and my son came in and asked a question. I turned to tell him the answer and in the split second I wasn't looking at her, she pulled herself up into a standing position using the taps.
I'm going to be a nervous wreck before long  :rotfl:Here I go again on my own....0 -
Is this the same person who gave him cake? Like fac says, they have a gagging reflex which protects them. In fact, it is actually safer to give them things like that earlier rather than later because the gagging reflex moves backwards so that eventually they can swallow solids (semi solids like purees bypass the gagging reflex) meaning that if you give them the stuff sooner they get plenty practice at manipulating it in their mouth before the reflex stops protecting them.
Lol, yes, same one. She gave him cake again but backed off when I growled at her.
Anyway, my lil monkey isn't putting on weight . Nothing at all in the last fortnight, not that I'm worried or anything :o. Was advised to give him meat and larger portions. Just as he has started to be too busy to eat. Breakfast he wolfs down, but lunch and dinner he's picky now and wants to play with it. Two days now both OH and I fight to get anything down him. I am finding this too hard.
But noticed something odd. After refusing lovely veg, then a yoghurt, he was sat on my lap as it was my turn to eat - we had hummus and chicken, which I let him try. And he was happy enough to lick the hummus off the carrot stick, eat tiny chicken pieces (only one gag) and chew the pitta bread. Like a proper big baby. Should I have let him have these, or is he just fed up of purees already
. He wasn't thriving on the milk, but maybe we should go back to milk and BLW with proper big food. Is there a degree in baby feeding I forgot to get?
MDW - I hope your LO feels better soon. Hope you all get some sleep.
tsstss7 - I have four clinics available to me, all miles away, all once a week, at least I get to pick a day though... I think the clinics rely on parents not bothering to minimise their workloads :wall:0 -
Everyone tells me 'you just wait till he starts moving about' and I am soooo scared of it. How do you cope with constant danger like that?
I hope you take it in your stride...:D
Yeah, you kind of change your worry threshold a bit with each stage.
Izzy's latest is to climb up onto chairs and then stand up (not holding onto anything) swaying ominously. I keep saying NO!!!! in a loud authoritative voice but for some reason she takes not the blindest bit of notice. She must be learning from her older sister that mummy is just there to be ignored :rolleyes::rotfl:0
