Has anyone had bother giving milk in a cup? Charlotte has dropped all her during the day milk feeds so she's only having milk first thing in a morning and before bedtime. That was her choice and I was sick of wasting milk so I stopped making it during the day. She happily drinks juice or water out of a cup, but she point blank refuses to drink milk out of it and will only drink it from a bottle.Pink_Princess_1 wrote: »Ruby is 1 month old today and I'm still b/feeding but she has been having a bottle of formula at 8pm.. the past couple of days she has been feeding from me non stop for couple of hours and I have then given her a bottle which she has drained... she only seems to be full from formula- any tips would be great:pLol, yes, same one. She gave him cake again but backed off when I growled at her.
Anyway, my lil monkey isn't putting on weight . Nothing at all in the last fortnight, not that I'm worried or anything :o. Was advised to give him meat and larger portions. Just as he has started to be too busy to eat. Breakfast he wolfs down, but lunch and dinner he's picky now and wants to play with it. Two days now both OH and I fight to get anything down him. I am finding this too hard.
But noticed something odd. After refusing lovely veg, then a yoghurt, he was sat on my lap as it was my turn to eat - we had hummus and chicken, which I let him try. And he was happy enough to lick the hummus off the carrot stick, eat tiny chicken pieces (only one gag) and chew the pitta bread. Like a proper big baby. Should I have let him have these, or is he just fed up of purees already
. He wasn't thriving on the milk, but maybe we should go back to milk and BLW with proper big food. Is there a degree in baby feeding I forgot to get?

Well after my mishap ruining the steriliser and breast pump and bottles last week I had a result today. My brother-in-law turned up with a gift of the avent birth to toddler essentials kit - swanky new electric steriliser, breast pump and loads of bottles etc. I never knew he was manager of a factory making avent stuff, very handy!
And midwife came today to weigh Iris, telling me she will have lost weight in the first week and not to worry, that it's normal. But she had gone up from 6lb 10oz to 7lb 2oz! Most unusual for breastfed babies apparently, so I'm feeling all proud of producing ultra-nutritious milk lol.
And feeling very very lucky to have such an easy contented baby. The first 2 days were quite hairy but after that she settled down so well and hardly cries. I'm sure it can't last, but enjoying it for now. The only thing making me a bit fed up is waiting for stitches etc to heal - still waddling around like I'm 9 months preggers. :eek:2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0 -
We went to Imogen's cousin's 4th birthday party yesterday. They had a fab magician/kid's entertainer. She just went straight over to join in with the big kids! I know we've brought her up to be self-assured but this was 4-7 yr olds running round like mad-heads on the dance floor. She just wandered over to look at the disco lights shining of the floor and when she got knocked over just got back up! We were so proud of her! And the magician was worth every penny to keep 20 kids entertained for 2 hours.
Your stories have had me laughing out loud this am!
Bed news - Imogen slept all last night in her new bed WITHOUT the bed guard and didn't fall out. Now we just need to master naps without emptying everything out of the drawers...MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
It's probably just a growth spurt - they all seem to go through phases of feeding non-stop for a few days every few weeks.

This happens with us too...roughly every four weeks and it can be exhausting!! Wish we had the internet 13 years ago when I had DS as when this happened the advice from everyone was that I didn't have enough milk and DS was hungry so he ended up on formula and being weaned early. With DD it didn't seem to happen and I held out until the recommended 4 months for weaning and kept bf-ing until a year.
This time I intend to hold on until 6 months despite being repeatedly told by family that he's probably had enough breastmilk now / there are more nutrients in formula / needs something "proper" to fill him up / is looking at our food (he's not!) / I'm embrrassing people by feeding in public etc etc (delete as appropriate!!) :mad:0 -
Well I havnt fed out in public yet or for that matter fed in front of anyone other my OH so I still have that hurdle - visitors usually have to sit while I feed Ruby upstairs ( which can take up to 1 1/2 hours) but am really enjoying it and hope to carry on19.6.10 Weight loss 6lb0

I was the same pink princess, I only fed in front of my OH. When the in-laws visited us I went upstairs to feed and after I couple of days I decided that if they didn't like it or felt uncomfortable then s0d them they would have to leave the room! I was always descret when changing sides etc but its the most natural thing and I wasn't hiding myself away for them! At my parents I was about to go upstairs to fed when my auntie, nan etc were round and I got told off for attempting to hide away!
After a while you'll be ok, however I never did feed in public but only cos I was fortunate and Charlie didn't need feeding when we were out

I'm no good at feeding in public either, even though I've had almost 2 years practice in total....:rotfl:
She will settle down though pink princess, it wont always take up to an hour and a half. Natasha takes a maximum of 20 minutes now, and that's only really in the morning. Her other feeds are usually 10 minutes.
I also love the name Ruby btw.....and I wasn't allowed it either.....lol."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Having BF DS1 for 21 months and DS2 for 16 months, I was a little apprehensive about feeding Samantha in this country. Don't know why, but I can't say that I ever really saw anyone feeding their baby in public here, whereas where I am from you have some people whose boobs hang out permantely.
I have now feed her everywhere (as I did with my boys) - but I still don't see many others feeding their babies - unless it is a meet up at a cafe or something.
I am discreet, but don't cover myself up and hide away. If someone looks hard enough, they will probably see something, but then, if you look hard enough, you'll probably be able to see a flash of someone's knickers too.:eek:0
