Another week & 1/2 to go before my 6wk checkup and being able to drive again, think i'll just about manage it without going stir crazy
After my section I was driving within 4 weeks _ I asked my midwife if she thought I was fine to drive, she said yes. I then phoned my insurance company, who basically said congratulations on the baby, and yes you can drive again:j
The acid test is if you can stamp you foot on the brake without hesitation for an emergency stop, then you're fit to drive. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
Congratulations septemberbaby and Sarahh112.
We thought about putting Adam in his door bouncer but he'd fall through the legs of it
He's 4 1/2 months now and after a week of being on prescription milk has put nearly a pound on, he's now 9lbs 9oz.
Saw the dietician yesterday and he just shouted at her at the top of his voiceshe told us to keep him on the milk only till our next appointment on the 4th May and then to start weaning him.
He wasn't a happy bunny before, he had his 3rd lot of jabs today (don't know why our gp's don't vaccinate at the exact weeks) and was really grumpy before bed.
DS1 is having night terrors, went to see gp about them and he won't go to sleep unless one of us is in his room with him, then we have to sneak out and leave the bathroom light on.If everyone cared and nobody cried, if everyone loved and nobody lied, if everyone shared and swallowed their pride then we'd see the day when nobody died.
ROCK IT DON'T STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BE GOOD OR BE GOOD AT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

We always have the bathroom light on. I don't think either DH or I could get to sleep without it :rotfl: :rotfl: .
Congrats Sarah112 !!does Calpol stop them building their immunity? I didn't think it did, because it only treats the symptoms so their body still has to fight off the infection itself. I'm not saying you are wrong btw - just asking because I genuinely don't know.
calpol doesn't stop them building their immunity but baby's can most certainly can become immune to it, in effect not working when you really need it to, because they have developed a tolerance towards it.
I know that it is just me, but I can't stand it when meds are given in ''anticipation of a pain/fever''. I have spent many a night with DS1 with a raging temperature, where nothing brings down the temperature. Wrapping him in a wet towel - even resorted to wiping him down with vinegar (you know jack and jill ... vinegar and brownpaper). In fact any white spirit, vodka (not :money: ) ... huccup ... can help. Of course I didn't have the benefit UK emergency services as this occured in a third world country, but I prefer to leave meds for when you need them.0 -
Congratulations september baby
My lo has a cold too and OH is STILL upstairs trying to settle him - a procedure started at 7pm today with the usual bathtime etc. OH thinks he is "better" at it than me so nice to give him a chance to prove it :0)..... not so bad as he is 23 weeks now - was awful when he got a cold at 5 wks though so can certainly sympathise with you douggie we got through by tilting cot and as he was over 12Lb he could have a half spoon of calpol (recomended by drs). He fed really badly then too so is def. worth offering extra feeds - my milk production fell badly during this time as I didn't realise he wasn't feeding properly!MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
Thanks izoomzoom, thats was what I was tryimg to say to Snaggles but didnt really explain it well. Its the same with us I think as well. I used to suffer with headaches and always took tablets to get rid of them, then I stopped and basically havent had a headache since which is about 6 yrs. Think its the same with cold remedies... I dont take them and my cold goes in a couple of days..OH always takes stuff and his colds last for weeks....
Plus I go on the basis that when we were kids I am sure that loads of things werent kept as clean as now, everythings hyper clean !!!!
I always leave landing light on, if nothing else to help with nappy changing/ night feeds (although touch wood they have stopped and LO is sleeping through from 9-6..:jMum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0 -
Congrats Septemberbaby :T0

Congratulations SB! :j:T
Maybe a ChristmasBaby? :xmassmile
zoomy I agree on the meds thing, it annoyed me when the doctors surgery called me to remind me of Elliot's final jabs appointment (very late at 24 weeks as they are so disorganised but that's another story) and told me to give him Calpol before we came. Uh, no!
And like Mazcabs I used to take paracetamol, ibuprofen, anadin, whatever was laying around for the slightest headache, and when I stopped, I didn't get as many :think:0 -
Congratulations SB.
I've been taking a lot of painkillers due to the problems I'm having. Sometimes I get a headache and sort of craving to take something, especially soluble codeine and paracetamol ones. I'm trying to wait until the pain is really bad before taking them, rather than just when I've got a niggly pain. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Congrats Sarah and September Baby! Will keep fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly.
Becles - I think codeine is addictive, so no wonder you crave it if you've been unwell for so long.
For colds, we used to put LO in the bathroom with us while we showered so she got the benefit of the steam. Not very :money: but we have also run the shower to steam up the room when we didn't need to get clean IFSWIM?
I too was driving before 6 weeks after my section, at about 5. MW was happy if I thought I could do an emergency stop.
Going to stay & play this afternoon, then it's mummies poker night tonight. Can't wait to catch up with all of the girls - it feels like ages since we've all been together.
Not great news on the work front. Think I'll have to up my days from 3 to 4, am just so busy, although the money will be handy.
