  • Shhhhhh, I'm only going to say this very quietly......

    I'm pregnant!

I just knew I was but I ordered some tests from eBay and have been curtain twitching for the postman all morning :rotfl:.

We are both absolutely thrilled but I know from my previous miscarriage not to get excited too soon :o. But, according to my dates I'm 5 weeks and it will be a Christmas baby due 20 Dec!

    OMG Septemberbaby

    Congratulations to you both....

In some ways I am envious but just enjoying DS at the moment as he is still only 5½ months old and being back at work, albeit a struggle on some days !!

ooh Septemberbaby well done! Hope this goes smoothly for you and as it's the second, maybe you won't have a Jan baby this time :)

My LO is a month and a couple of days old now, that's gone by really quickly and he changes or learns something new every day it seems. He's started to show an interest in his crinkly ear-type toys now and always looks around at what's going on - even if it's just to stare at the lightbulb:)

Any hints on what to do when they have a cold at such a young age? Have used one of those bulb/aspirator things to suck the snot out of his nose when i can, but I can't get at all the snot which is preventing him from feeding effectively as he can't breathe through the nose properly!

Another week & 1/2 to go before my 6wk checkup and being able to drive again, think i'll just about manage it without going stir crazy :)

    Congratulations September Baby.

Thanks for the replies about going to bed - it's good to know that it's fairly common.

Door bouncers - Alice was around three months when we started using ours. I found it great as it was killing my arms holding her upright (she always preferred being upright). She never did bounce in it though - she mainly just looked at the floor and then later she moved on to spinning while looking at the floor. We had to stop using it at about ten months though because she could hit her head on the door frame because of the way she span in it.

    Congratulations Septemberbaby :T

Douggie, sorry your LO isn't very well - the things we do are - elevate the head end of the cot or moses basket (be careful that it's still stable if it's a moses basket on a stand), put a tissue/muslin square etc with some Karvol on near to the baby, but not where he can grab it, I think Snufflebabe (like Vicks) can be used from pretty young too.

Oh, and a little tub of water balanced on the radiator will help to keep the air humid...although I have tried this twice and have knocked water all over the carpet both times, so I can't tell you if it works or not! :o

And just be prepared to feed more often - it's hard work sucking when you can't breath through your nose, so he might not take as much and he might get tired more easily.

I'm sure you've probably thought of most of that already though....it's hard to see them ill, but it doesn't harm them in the long term, and even though they seem so tiny and frail, they are quite robust really, and bounce back quickly.

Hi Douggie, sorry to hear about your LO

I know how you feel as my LO had cold/cough for about 8 weeks. I agree best thing to do is raising end of bed, bowl of water near radiator, and we used to put Olbas oil on the mobile above his head so he couldnt reach it.. but best to check with local pharmacist re when you can use these things though as many are from 3 months on. To be honest we tried not to give LO much, even calpol with injections so that Lo built up immunity.

    Hope he feels better soon

Mazcabs - does Calpol stop them building their immunity? I didn't think it did, because it only treats the symptoms so their body still has to fight off the infection itself. I'm not saying you are wrong btw - just asking because I genuinely don't know. :)

Congrats Septemberbaby - thats great news. Cant believe we are both pregnant at the same time again (and so soon after the original events). How is Poppy doing? Rowan is really cute at the moment - he has just started babbling and blowing kisses. He is still pretty immobile at the moment (he is just too lazy/laid back to bother with moving).

I am 11 weeks now. Have got my nuchal scan on the 28th. They say I am an old mum now cos I am 33 (how depressing is that) - least I get another piccie of the baby.
