Tsstss7 - when I came out after csection I only took a few of the painkillers but definately didnt bother with the iron tablets as I knew they would bind me even more than I was already... as it was it was a week in between going to the toilet (TMI i 'm sorry!!) Thats why I stopped breastfeeding cos couldnt sit down to do it!!! On lactulose now but only once a week. the only other time I take a painkiller is half an hour before haing a filling at dentist because it helps get rid of the aching mouth and the numbness..good tip that

been on food since 17 weeks - would eat what I eat if I let him! However my friends lo is 6 weeks younger and shows no signs of being interested so it really does depend. ds1 was weaned at 4 mths too but was slow and prob only fed little bits of baby rice till 6-7 mths ds2 on otherhand will eat and eat ....even after a full feed (I do bfeed - meal - bfeed to try and limit solids as he needs mi8lk more at mo. )MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0

Hi All,
I'm new to this thread and am keen to pick up your parent money saving tips! Can anyone please direct me to a page/section (if there is such a section!) where top tips are compiled? I don't think dh would be impressed at my time management if I tried to read 143 pages lol.
Thanks very much,

I'm with mazcabs etc on painkillers etc - never take them unless I reallly need to - not because of possible lessening of effect though (although the theory makes perfect sense to me) just because I've never been one for pill popping really. I got sent home from the hospital with lots of painkillers etc that I didn't use as a result - shame I can't give them back really seems such a waste.
Am fairly sure you can take them back to a chemist. Not sure if they'll get re-used but they are happy to accept them back.
It's Imogen's first night in her 'big bed' tonight. Keep your fingers crossed! She slept for an hour this afternoon in it - the first time. She just curled up in the corner next to the wall, so cute I wanted to cry!!!
Looked into junior bedding but it's so expensive we've just left her in her sleeping bag and tucked a sheet and blanket over her. Am hoping we don't get any 'bumps' in the night...
Hi Pozalina - We haven't been so organised as to compile a list, but I'm sure everyone will chip in. From me...
Rreal nappies save a fortune, even though they are a big outlay. Wash at 40 with the rest of your whites and don't bother soaking.
Breast feeding - cheapest you can get!
Keep the tags on all the clothes you are given and exchange for larger sizes if necessary - you'll get loads of 0-3 months ones.
Don't bother with a travel system. You won't use it properly for long, they are bulky and you'll end up buying a smaller pram/buggy in a matter of months.
Buy things on offer and keep a stock (need lots of cupboards for this one!)
Sign up for all of the mother & baby clubs - Boots, Tesco, SMA, Toys R Us etc You will get lots of lovely freebies.

Buy a cheap stick blender (Tesco Value about £4!) and some small plastic pots with lids.
Make as much baby food as you can, by adding a few extra ingredients and pureeing what you are having as long as it is suitable for babies. Don't think they have to eat bland foods either. My daughter is 11 months and a rogan josh curry disappears in seconds
In the first instance, it'll save you approx 60p a jar for baby food. In the long run, it gets baby used to eating your diet and you don't have to mess around cooking childrens meals later on and buying junk things like turkey dinosaurs. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Are milestones supposed to happen all at once? Every day J manages a new feat, rolling, nearly sitting, pulling himself up (it's getting complicated changing nappies now) all in the space of weeks. Today we were amazed when after a paddy for no reason he started rolling his tongue in a funny way and babbling Ba-ba and Da-Da!! Daddy was triumphant.
My mum told me the ages of 3-9 months are the best, so I am enjoying every minute of it. Ish:wall:0 -
Charlotte did that! She wasn't sitting unaided at 9 months and I was starting to get a little worried.
Then between 9 and 10 months she learned to sit up, crawl and will stand if you put her next to something she can hold on to.
She likes Dad best too. She keeps saying "ahh da da da" over and over again on a morning, then when he gets up she screams excitidly "daddy daddy daddy"He's off work at the moment with his bad knee so she spends most of the day hanging on his trouser legs saying "da da da daddy."
She's also learned no. When she doesn't want to go to bed, I put her in the cot, and she grabs her favourite teddy and says "ahhh no no no no" to him :rotfl:Here I go again on my own....0 -
Morning everyone.
septemberbaby congrats. Are we all verging on mad on this thread? I will have a larger age gap than you though (18 months) but it has been a really tough pregnancy - mainly through being back at work. If you aren't at work you may find it easier.
I am now almost 38 weeks, and i had DS at 38+6. I am really hoping this little one decides to make a move soon. DS finished full time nursery on Friday, and i think it will kill me running around after him, particularly games on the floor. Thank heavens for Barney DVDs.
I am almost ready with the baby things, the DIY is another matter as we are having a saga with MFI and a damaged piece of my fitted wardrobe, which can't arrive till the week i am due at the earliest. However, i will not stress, and as long as we all have clean clothes, and the hospital bag is packed, and i have baby bed/car seat ready, all should work out ok.
bumbos ours was hardly used - DS did the back arching thing when he was too small for it, and fell out, and when he was fat enough his legs were too long, and we didn't really use it after that. I wouldn't bother buying one again.
lu haven't tried DS in the bed yet as it isn't assembled. I bought a kids duvet/pillow set from Dunelm mill for £12.99. I thought it would fit in the duvet cover i bought to match the cot bedding, and get him used to being in the cot with the duvet 1st. When i unfolded it though, it was double the size of the cover. I am thinking rather than buying another one, i might cut it in half and have one to use as a spare. It is just folded in half in the cover at the minute, but he looks like he is sleeping in a marshmallow, and it will be far too hot very soon. He did think he was the bees knees getting in the big boy covers though, and we have not had a scrap of bother getting him to go to sleep.
agutka we got loads of milestones within weeks of each other at 9-10 months. And the rate we are picking up words and baby signs at the moment is scary
becles hope they get to the bottom of your problems soon
