I know nothing about babies - as in what to expect. So may I ask for opinions?
Would you rather take baby on holiday at 8 months or 10 months. Or does it not matter as whatever mobility they have I will be able to deal with it in whatever situation arises...

    Neither :rotfl:

We took Izzy to France when she was 8 months. She was a complete pain, she was sleeping in our room, although I use that term "sleeping" very loosely!! I don't think we got any sleep for the full week we were away.

Seriously, I don't think you'd really notice too much difference whenever you choose, I wouldn't say those 2 months will really matter. I would just go when it was cheapest!

I have had such an upsetting afternoon.

Took Samantha to get weighed this afternoon, and then we popped into Tesco's. We always go through the self service till as it gives DS1 and DS2 something 'positive' to do in the shop, because they can play up - especially DS2.

Anyhow, we have passed everything through the till and as I stuck my card in the pin machine I heard this almighty bag, turned around and the trolley that Samantha has been stapped into was lying on the floor sideways, and DS2 was standing nearby. I screamed to him 'what have you done' whilst I rushed to her and unstrapped her from the 'baby seat'. She was screaming her head off, I was balling my eyes out, DS2 was apologising (he had climbed up on the side of her to give her back her rattle), and it was just terrible. Somehow the staff finished off our packing and she finally stopped crying by the time we got back to the car.

I stopped in at the GP's on the way home, as a head injury from that height doesn't bear even thinking about and they saw her straight away. Bless them. Dr gave her a thorough examination, says he can see nothing untowards now, but gave me a checklist to watch out for and to take her down to A&E if I get worried. Samantha for her troubles was the most 'delightful' baby whilst she was checked out, smiling, cooing, giggling and started to cry again when we left the Dr. Cheeky monkey !

I can't be angry with DS2 either (bless him he thought he was going to lose the tv, ds, wii, playstation - the lot) as I know he didn't do it on purpose but he plays up so much when we go into a shop that sometimes I don't know what to do with him.

I took DS1 on 10 hour flight when he was 11 months old. It was the worst journey of my life. He was almost too big for the 'cot', wouldn't sit on my lap (and who would, for that length of time), when my meal came, he wouldn't keep his hands off it (boiling hot), so in the end, I just let him crawl up and down the aisles :rotfl: .

However, you haven't said you are flying, so you may be fine :D

If I had to chose it would be 8 mths as unless you have a real early walker baby won't be too mobile by then ...still hard work though they certainly don't travel well when really little!

Sorry to hear about your bad day izoomzoom - glad your lo wasn't badly hurt - accidents can happen so easily I know, my big ds was dropped down the stairs (thankfully not a full flight) by my brother when he was about 2 despite me telling him over and OVER again not to pick him up at the top of the stairs, thankfully ds1 was very bouncy in those days but poor little bro certainly wasn't so easily trusted again! It hasn't stopped trips to casualty for ds1's self inflicted accidents though - it's true that boys are fearless to the point of stupidity sometimes!!

Fac - Natasha seems to quite like lentils but I'm a bit stuck for what to make with them. She likes lentil, carrot, pepper and apple (which sounds and looks horrible but actually tastes quite nice) but I don't really know what else to make with them. I don't suppose you know of any lentil dishes that a baby might like do you? :)

And well done Elliot on the crawling/shuffling, he does seem to be coming on quickly. :T

izoomzoom, sorry about your little one's accident, you must have been terrified. I'm so glad she is okay. I can't believe the trolley fell over so easily. My DS climbs in and out of the trolley all the time - think I had better be more careful.

Natasha has just started saying 'hiya', 'yeyeyeye' (for yes), and, strangely, 'duck' (LOL!). She has a toy duck and I was most surprised to hear her saying it! :rotfl:

Still, as one of Ryan's first words was 'b*gger' (he didn't mean to be rude - he was trying to say 'hoover' :o), it could be worse. :D

I took my boys away when they were babies.

Joshua was 10 months on his first holiday, and James was 7 months. Charlotte will be a year when we go away next month.

Take a big old towel to put on the ground and a selection of toys. I found the boys happiest just playing on the towel, and we had rubber rings and stuff for playing in the pool.

Both holidays were all inclusive and the boys were eating a decent range of foods by then, so they just had whatever meal could be mushed with a fork! Both hotels had plenty fruit, yoghurts etc., and they were happy to fill baby cups with bottled water or juice at the bar.

For nap times I just stuck the pushchair under a tree or a parasol, and I had a stretch out in the sun while they slept. I've just bought a small beach tent for this year, as I thought that would be handy for both naps and playing in, and Charlotte can use it in the garden during the summer too.

I didn't find it that hard - just different in that you can lay by the pool all day, then go drinking all night as you do before you have children!

Charlotte isn't saying as much as Natasha. Everyone is called "dada" and her favourite is "wah wah wah". If you ignore her the wah wah's get louder and louder until you notice her :D
Here I go again on my own....

Typical, trust me to get the noisy one! :rotfl: We caught her on video saying hiya a couple of weeks ago - it's only 3 seconds long but it makes me giggle! I think she is learning to talk as quick as she can so that she can get a word in edgeways around her extremely talkative brother. :p She's quite a polite little girlie though, she says 'ta' if you pass her something....bless.

Actually, her 'duck' is more like 'guck', but it's near enough. :D

Who cares about her talking when she can DRIVE!! :rotfl:

Thank you for all those 'selling' the holidays to me , can't wait. Though our holiday will be more about visiting family and shopping/sightseeing, as I find it uncomfortale to be the absolute fattest girl on the beach!!
