I found breastfeeding time peaked at four hours per day at one month. Since two months it has varied between an average of 2 to 2 1/2 hours per day.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Congratulations Pink Princess - I remember those early days well ....it seems like all they do is sleep and eat (and leave you nice nappies to change) I think I worked out that I was doing 6 hours feeding a day at one point as I had breastfeeding problems but it's all worth it in the end!
Love the name Ruby - was one of my "girl" choices but am destined only to increase the worlds supply of boys!:D or is that  .lolMSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
Congratulations PP! Lovely name
I miss those early days, life was so simple, changing nappies and feeding and little else <broody>
Anyway back to a demanding 23 week old...
Any opinions on highchairs?
Looking at three of various prices, what have you got, what's good about a highchair, and are any of these worth their price tags?!

Hi guys, sorry I haven't been posting much recently - a combination of poorly children and rubbish internet connection. Hopefully both are pretty much resolved now
Fac - love the last highchair but OMG the price! I'm not big on brand names anyway, so to me there's not much difference between highchairs: it's not like they actually do anything, IYSWIM, it's just a chair.Depends on what you want from it, I guess, and whether you want one that will convert into a toddler seat later. The most important thing about highchairs IMHO is how easy they are to clean. Most are quite deceptive, with all the little nooks and crannies for crumbs and bits of toast to accumulate in.
Detachable straps are good too, for washing off the cemented-in Weetabix. :rotfl:
Pink Princess - congratulations and welcome. :j Ruby is a lovely name (are you my neighbour, they have a baby Ruby too, LOL!). She has the same birthday as meThe early days are tough with the endless BFing, so try and take it easy - easier said than done, I know.
Becles - glad to hear things are getting better. And you know we all think you're great :T
Lu - how lovely that Imogen is settling in so well, clever girl! :T
My old HV had the same advice about milk feeds, as my DS1 dropped all his daytime milk feeds by the time he was 8 months. Don't think this one will be the same as we're nowhere near dropping feeds yet (he's 7 months). :rolleyes:0 -

We quiet often end up waking her up. She's a good sleeper! Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:
I'm hopeful that this get's me out of cooking Christmas dinner!
Baby Ruby arrived after 55 hours of labour & an emergency c section on Christmas Day at 14.41 weighing 6lb 6oz...And yes I did get out of cooking Christmas dinner!!:rotfl:0 -

That's all I used for my boys and Charlotte has been using it since 9 months old when she was able to sit unaided. It's dead easy to wipe clean. The seat has two positions so it'll last until she is ready to sit on a normal dining chair. You can use it with the tray, or when she's a little bigger, I can push it up to the table.
Had a very positive day today
I met one of the moderators of the football message board at the charity do I went to. There are two blokes posting the horrid messages - one works with my husband but thinks he is a "scab" for working during the postal strikes, and the other is his best mate. Had a good chat with the moderator yesterday and he said he hadn't realised the extent of the blokes postings. He's warned both of them and they haven't posted anything else about us today. Hopefully that is the end of the matter. Dunno how people can be so nasty.
And at the same do, I also got talking to a bloke who owns a chocolate factory (sorry girls, he's married!). He's been in touch to say he is looking for someone to do secretarial work for him and would I be interested. Not sorted the finer details out yet, but basically he'd give me a load of handwritten sheets, and he wants them putting in spreadsheets and some sort of statistical analysis done. I'd be in my element with that as I love working with numbers (can you tell my Dad was a maths teacher?!). I can do it all from home as well, so it'll fit in well round Charlotte. I'm dead excited about it :jHere I go again on my own....0 -
Hi guys
DS is 5 months on Friday.. where does time go!!
First week back at work this week so have been lax in reading forum and posting. Not going to bad although have the odd regret about going back as things not as they were when I left but I suppose it will settle down soon.
DS has a terrible cough (for about the last 7 weeks!) but checked with the docs and its not on his chest which is good. Feeding is a problem though as I sometimes dont get chance to wind him before a cough and some of it comes up. Tonights last feed was awful, three changes of sleepsuit cos of bringing food up and then thought I had better give him another bottle as almost all of it came up.
He is at nursery the next two days so I hope they wont turn him away cos of cough..... meant to be going out on works do tomorrow night but not sure I want to, typical off since Oct last year , first chance of a good night out and cant be bothered!!! Tried working from home today but he was so miserable with cough I didnt get much done, lucky I hae understanding boss I guess.
Any more tips for getting rid of cough, bed is raised, bowl of water by radiator which is on low, and olbas oil on mobile above his head????
Blimey feel better for that little rant !Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0 -
I've got the Argos booster too - we haven't really got room for a proper high chair. It's really good value for money I think. The only slight problem we found was that Natasha's bum slipped forward sometimes on the plastic, so she would eventually end up leaning backwards, but a little cushion (made by my Mum) with some of that grippy stuff (that holds rugs etc in place) on the bottom solved that.
Great news about the job and the issues on the other forum being sorted out Becles."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
This is the highchair we have and its fab!
Silver Cross Sovereign Highchair
We asked for JL vouchers as Poppy's xmas presents as we knew this would be a big purchase this year.
Congrats, PP1! Hope you and Ruby are doing well.
Becles, you are one of the most recognised names I know on this whole site and I have learnt lots from your posts. Glad you are feeling more upbeat! x
We are having a 6month party for Poppy on Sunday! I can't believe I have had this little angel for so long and we want to thank both sides of the family for all they have done for us.
I bought Mother & Baby magazine today and inside is a voucher for a free pack of Toujours nappies from Lidl worth up to £4.99. Anyone tried these? I will probably pick a pack up as we have a store fairly local but am scared to deviate from my forever faithful Huggies!
BTW, can't remember who asked a while back, but I took 3 packs of Pampers back to Asda today without a receipt and they let me swap them for Huggies without fuss.
Hope everyone is well.
