Hi Guys!
Just popping in to ask for some advice. My daughter is going to be 1 in a couple of weeks and I have been trying for a while to get her to drink our of a beaker and she doesn't like them. No matter how much she want the milk the she wants it out the bottle.
She drinks her juice out of a cup with a straw attached. Can I put her milk in one of those or can anyone recommend a beaker that babies love? I think she doesn't like the hardness of the tip.
Thanks in advance0 -
Those raspberries are so cute :T :T .
Samantha seems fine after her almighty fall, but she is driving me mad with her constant feeding. I feel like she is a newborn again, feeding, feeding and feeding. She has stopped sleeping through the night, waking at 5:30 since Monday and then 4:30 this amthough she thankfully does go back to sleep. It is just me that has forgotten how tiring it can be. I make the problem worse, in that because it is holidays, I stay in bed until after 9, and then of course I can't get to sleep until well after midnight  .
She is 5 months now, and I really want to hang off on solids until she is 6m, but I don't know if we are going to make it. I will try for one more week, and then if my 'milk' hasn't caught up with her than I am going to start weaning.
India, sorry can't help with the cup business, but look forward to answers you get, as we will need to introduce Samantha to a cup in the next month or so, too.0 -
Hi India
Imogen has always had water from an open cup, either a Doidy (http://www.babyzoop.co.uk/doidy.htm) or a Steadycup (http://www.steadyco.com/). We were given the Steadycup at her 9mth check by the HV. I started giving her milk from a cup with her lunch at first.
When we moved off bottles (breakfast and before bed) we went on to the large Tommee Tippee cups like this (http://www.tommeetippee.co.uk/product/easiflow_beaker_9_months_/)
They are meant to be non-spill so we just took the valve out. They weren't expensive from Asda. The teat/top is made from a rubbery material which seems similar to teats.
Or of course you can put her milk in the cup with straw you use for her water.
Raspberries v cute!
Don't be such wimps about the implant. I think it's WAY better than having someone ferret about in my nether regions :eek:MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
Hi everyone, just came on to catch up on the reading, I still manage to read quickly but pposting is harder!
Things are getting better slowly, the PND is more under control, having better days and not feeling as suicidal anymore. Molly is quite good at night has a feed around 8 or 9pm and sleeps till 5am (most nights) then goes aroumd until 8 or 9 am. So DH is only getting up once in the night. I then get up with Jack who is waking any time between 6.45 and 7.30am (lately has been after 7am which is fantastic, but think due to clocks moving) and we leave DH and Molly to get more sleep. That way we are managing to survive but what we will do when DH goes back to work we don't know, but hopefully Molly will be closer to sleeping through by then.
We are at the colicky bit now, but its not bad as she is on Nutamigen like Jack, but we are still having trouble winding her, HV said it will start to slowly improve after week 8, she is 5 and 1/2 weeks now and 10lb 4oz, so gaining weight nicely. She is also on the 91st centile for length so may be a tall girl too.
DH has been signed off for another two weeks and its been of great help to me, I was unable to look after Molly properly for several weeks and only in the last few days I have been able to tolerate her crying more and not get so distressed myself (not all the time though). I have changed some nappies which is an improvement and give her 1-2 bottles a day. Plus do all Jack's care. Having DH around has given him time to bond with Molly and see what its really like being at home all the time and what my life is like. Although he admitted he couldn't be a stay at home dad as he feels he should be earning the money, he's not looking fwd to returning back either as he doesn't really like his job.
Jack is doing well, absolutely no jealously yet at all and he often climbs up on the sofa to pat molly's back (tries to wind her) or rub her back. Sometimes he just goes up to her and points to a part of her body, makes contact and stands there looking.
Also the thing I worried about the most hasn't happened yet, Molly hasn't woken jack up in the night. Even this morning when I was in andn out resettling her from wind at a time when Jack would be close to waking, he still didn't. So I think he's getting used to her crying in the day and at night its a familiar noise that is tuned out.
Things are more positive around here, but not quite out of the woods yet. My AD's have been upped to 30mg and I think they are starting to now take some effect as I have had happier days and life doesnt always seem so bleak now.
I've enjoyed reading all your posts, so rest assured, I am still here just not able to post much.0 -
Hi Bay
So glad you're feeling a bit better and managing to keep your head above water. Sounds like hubby has had a nice amount of time with Molly too and is able to appreciate how hard it is, but also able to help you get them both into the new routine - which is great.
Fingers crossed things will continue to improve. Glad you're here in spirit. We're all thinking of you. :grouphug:MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
