Last week went better than i expected, the ultrasound was just to check that adam has a thyroid gland and that it was in the right place, which it is.
Am a little concerned about his weight gain as it seems to be tailing off, he was weighed on weds and is only 8lbs, he's put on just under 4lbs in 3 months. HV said to ask at our next hospital appointment for a refferal to a dietician as they could prescribe a special milk with extra calories for him.
And talking of poo, adam has for the past few days only pooped once in the evenings and oh my god does that nappy explode, it's as if he waits all day and then gets it all over and done with in one go, and all over me while he's at it :D
If everyone cared and nobody cried, if everyone loved and nobody lied, if everyone shared and swallowed their pride then we'd see the day when nobody died.

I think the total exhaustion of a new born is driving me insane. I want to move house and I am pushing my husband to do this. I am breastfeeding, up 1/2 the night and constantly feel the onset of panic rising in my chest, yet I am pushing and pushing to get the ball rolling to move.

    I must have PN insanity

    Hi tee pee

hope u r feeling better today - am also still up (a bit ) in night with lo. trick is too go really easy on yourself. grab sleep when you can and look after yourself too.

With me it's purely down to sleep and routine (for me as well as baby) I can easily spend a day doing nothing but feeding with the odd change etc just because I'm so knacked. The odd extra nap makes all the difference and gives me the energy to toddle down to boots or have lunch out!

    hi suzukibabe

glad to hear Adam's ultrasound went well. hope the dietician referral helps with weight issues.

We went through a phase of the once a day exploding poos too, but she's now doing about 3 per day, and they are not quite so offensive! :p

    evening lovely ladies.

I am starting to feel a bit giddy. Only 4 more days of work and then a whole blissful year off on mat leave again. And boy does the house need it.

Feeling a bit bad as DH and his parents took DS to a farm today. We took him about 5 weeks ago, and he wasn't keen and went in the buggy most of the day. Apparently today he was feeding the animals, and walking round loving it, so now i feel bad cos i missed it.

Saying that, i have been fluey for the past weekish, and i managed to clear a fair old bit of work that is now off my back before going on leave, so it is swings and roundabouts, and yet again i have a layer of guilt attached.

suzukibabe glad the scan was ok.

Really looking forward to being a full time parent again.

Goodness, I wish I was just starting my maternity leave. I go back in 3 weeks. _pale_

I have forgotten everything and fully expect to get the sack when they realise that since I left, my brain has in fact completely stopped working. :o

i've only been back since september, and probably only just really competent again to the standard i like to work at, and about to go back to square one again.

however, i am going to enjoy it, as i don't think i want to be pregnant again, or if i do, not for a number of years.

she says now - someone please shoot me if i say in a few months when the hormones kick in how much i am missing being pregnant and want to be again.

remind me how fat i am at the moment, how the baby wiggles all night long stopping me sleep, and how annoyed i am that i am full of cold/flu and not able to take anything other than parecetomol, and how sick that makes me feel.

the time off work is brill though isn't it. Ds is changing so much. I sat with MIL and wrote a list the other day of all the words he can say that other people understand too, and it was getting on for 50. Plus he can do about 5 baby sign language gestures too. I have been too busy for too long, and it was nice to slow down and really appreciate what a miracle he is. I can't wait to watch it all again. :D
  • HI everyone, my new arrival, a boy, is 12 days old and although i have posted on here before, i thought i would re-introduce myself now he is here.

any advice on how to stop little boys soaking wee up their backs in the cot at night. feeding constantly at night and changing his clothes several times is driving me mad.

i now have 4 kids and am really struggling at the mo and feel as though i am heading down a path that i don't want to go down, as i have struggled with depression. funnily enough it is the oldest child who causes me the most stress:confused:. really want to enjoy kids and baby but struggling. anybody else feel the same?

Congratulations on the new arrival 3kids. I wonder if your eldest is playing up because s/he feels pushed out. Feeling are funny things - reality has often very little to do with them!

I have no ideas on the weeing though - perhaps trying a different type of nappy?

  • Thanks js_other_half - unfortunately i don't think that it is the new arrival that is making my eldest awkward. it is probably her age - she just can't say anything nice, refuses to do anything to help or even pick up after herself, thinks the world revolves around her, answers back - i could go on, basically stroppy teenager at 11! to everyone with littlies - it is so much easier when they are small, believe me. combined with lack of sleep, depression and other problems that i have - things are seeming very bleak at the mo.

on the bright side my baby is breastfeeding well and that seems to be going ok - although not sure which things i eat give him wind/tummy ache yet. he only woke 4 times last night which was a great improvement.

midwife coming back later in the week and i know i will just smile and say that things are good cos if i don't i will just roar my eyes out and she will think that i am some mad woman:confused:. does anybody know that when you go for your 8 week check do you see the dr? what happens at the check as i can't remember
