I didn't think otherwise and I suspect nobody else did either.
I think we should all now stop apologising to each other and just get on with discussing our little treasures, plus of course any money saving tips we can share along the way.
Btw thanks for the person who recommended the huggies vouchers in the magazine, I bought two copies and tesco took £4 off me yesterday, plus with my £26 reward coupon, I spent 95p on my £31 shop. Felt a bit embarrassed as I then discovered I only had 75p on my and had to use my card!!!!!
Oopps, right must go and find DH, he took some money out the wall for me yesterday and just remembered he must still have it.
Oh and lastly, watch out everyone, i'll be non stop quoting you now0 -

How soon did you start weaning? DS is 16 weeks tomorrow but HV was sceptical about doing it too soon?0
-
We started weaning yesterday! Poppy woke up twice last week at 5am (BIG shock to my system) and has also been taking an interest in what I'm eating so we decided to give it a go. Funnily enough we received a weaning pack from Hipp last week which included a sachet of baby rice, a sachet of follow on milk, a bib, a spoon and a fridge magnet! She seemed to really enjoy it and opened her mouth for the spoon without a fuss. Not quite sure how much she actually ate though! Here is a pic: PS sorry its so big, don't know how to change it in photobucket!0

Aww she's so cute SB, and looks like she's enjoying her baby rice (I love it the way food always seems to get up their noses, LOL!)
We've got one of those Hipp bibs as well BTW. :rotfl:

hi there, new mum here.
well, not so new anymore, daughter is now 11 weeks old. we're just starting to get to the stage where i have some time to myself during the day!
can I ask a question? I'm always worrying about how much I play with her during the day, as I have lots of other things to do as well. She is very good about lying on her playmat by herself, and I read and sing to her, but there are times when I just have leave heralone for half an hour or so. Then my mum (author of such comments as "oh, you're really relaxed with her, I would never have believed you would be - grrr!) said, "oh, you do talk to her all the time don't you?" When I said that actually I'm only talking to her about half the time, I got a lecture about how I am stunting her intellectual development.
Any opinions on this? OH was fuming, I just felt horribly guilty for "neglecting" our DD.

Getting married 19th August 2011 to a lovely, lovely man :-)0 -
Do whatever you are happy with! My little monster has to put up with me singing alsorts!! He's just turned six months and he goes in his bouncer whilst I'm getting jobs like washing up/ironing done etc and hes quite happy with me singing wheels on the bus and any others I can remember! My mum says he makes more noise than I did as a baby and I must talk to him alot, whilst he doesn't answer me back its great. As long as you are happy and content your baby will be as well so don't worry about it and enjoy her whilst she's so small!:heart2: Charlie born Aug 2007 :heart2: Reece born May 2009

Well, you COULD talk to her constantly, all day long, but then she would most likely to be over-stimulated and crabby, and you would probably drive yourself insane...lol.
Take your lead from your baby, you will know when she wants to play, and when she wants to be left alone for some quiet time (if she is bored, she will soon tell you :rotfl:).
I find this expression :rolleyes: is appropriate for a lot of the advice my Mum gives me (breastfeeding is unhygenic, one day I will get sick and my milk will just stop, breastfeeding after 12 months old is sick.....etc.....). Used to spend a lot of time doing this  but now I just do this  and don't let it bother me."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
I don't think I'd want someone talking continuously to me all day so I would imagine that babies need breaks too just like we do. I let Alice play in the highchair while I wash up or play in whatever room I'm doing jobs in. I don't think it's realistic to always play with/talk to/entertain a baby as you'd never be able to do anything and also they would grow up thinking that they were the centre of the universe and that everything revolved around them. Maybe if you didn't talk to her at all that would be bad but it doesn't sound like that is the case.
It's funny everyone seems to talk about their babies being interested in food but even after three months of weaning Alice isn't bothered in the slightest by us eating in front of her. (Try reading a book though and she whips it away from you!)0
