I am hoping for a 'bonding' experience to help me think about this baby more. With DS i was constantly thinking about him and preparing myself for his arrival in some way. Life revolved around being pregnant. This time i have had so little time to focus on the new baby due to being so busy at work and looking after DS, so i have some worries that i may get bad PND this time. It was bad enough last time, and if i am less prepared, it may be worse if you see what i mean.
It does sound a bit odd, but it makes sense to me, and i know DH is looking forward to it too as we ended up taking DS with us to the last NHS scan, the guy was really quick and didn't point out much, and DS was good but wiggly so DH was concentrating on him, and barely saw a thing. I really can't wait to check it is another DS and to see the little features on the screen and compare to features DS has.
If it helps any, when I was pg with Izzy I was so worried that I wouldn't bond with her. We'd left quite a gap (3.5 years) between her and Olivia and my life revolved around my daughter. I really wasn't at all sure that there was room in my life for another baby. The pregnancy went by in a flash and I felt bad that my first pregnancy had been such a big deal and the second was such a non entity.
But from the moment Izzy arrived, I had no worries. In retrospect, I think I had a bit of PND, Olivia was hard work during the 3s, but I worshipped Isabel from the moment she arrived and no matter how loved up I was with my first born, number 2 found an immediate place in my heart too.
Anyway, hello to all the new people. Please don't think we're cliquey, not at all, as Michelle says we've all been chatting a long time but doesn't mean we're not welcoming of new mums. Come and join us, please.
Bailey, keeping my fingers crossed for you - I have a good feeling about this weekend. Did you see Corrie?? Wishing you a Violet birth... how easy was that?! Only in the soaps eh!!0 -
Hello chocoholic. I also have a 6wk old who was small .4lb 7. He is eating and eating and the health visitor said that it is norm for small babies as they are playing catch up. I am breast feeding constantly too, and he is getting really cross and pulling at me and crying but wanting more. HV has advised I express my milk and give it him in a a bottle as he seems happier taking it from a bottle and not having to wait for the "let down". Since doing this for few days he is settling much better/quicker but still eating like mad. Sometimes back to back feeds but then he put on 11oz this week so the exhaustion is worth it. ( I think)
Thanks for that - it's nice to hear from someone who's having the same experience. I've been trying to express without much luck. WI tried with a manual pump with DD and couldn't do it, bought an electric pump this time and still get less than one fl. oz - another thing I can't do!!  Will keep persevering though. Oh, and after a slow start Tom put on 11 oz last week and 10 the week before so he is definitely catching up!
With regards to the thread being clique-y I haven't found that at all. I jumped right in and have had lots of answers - though I am fairly thick-skinned and probably wouldn't notice anyway. I recognise lots of names from the pregnancy thread so most people seem fairly familiar.0 -
lol, poor you agutka! good luck. how much does joseph weigh? is he the right weight for a grow bag yet?
also the scratching thing, we used to put socks on her hands (as they are longer) and then sellotape them to her sleeves!
Weight? Erm... He was 6.16kgs last week... Bit skinny, but plenty long.
The experiment kind of failed. He did sleep through without the swaddle, but in the middle of the night he was fussing for his dummy so much I plonked him in bed with me so I could pop it back easily. It's amazing how much space a baby takes up
RE the corrie birth, I've been re-watching the Friends series yet again and they had twins and triplets born naturally (no pain relief at all?) and at full term. How's that for realistic?:wall:0 -
I think the weight for the gro-bag was about 7kg. It said on the packaging of the gro-bag anyway, we used it from about 11 weeks, although no idea what size DS was then.
Scan was very good. The ladies couldn't find many good photos as the baby was hiding his face between his hands and feet. The amount of times she focussed in on a hand you would think it was a baby octupus.
Worth doing though.0 -

She's been eating chicken jalfrezi today and she loved it. I couldn't shovel it in quick enough0

DH would love to give Jack a curry, but because I stand stand the smell of it cooking, being eaten and repurcussions the next day, its banned from the menu in this house, pregnancy or otherwise. DH could have curry if he went to someone else's house, but he knows he wouldn't get any kisses for at least 24 hours. However at some point this year, Mum is taking me to champneys for a late birthday treat, so the boys can do what they want then. Dad will step in the help DH with the two children and we won't go until this one is much older and in an established routine, otherwise I wouldn't relax and its not fair on DH.
Well I had the sweep, wasn't what I was expecting, smears have been more painful than that, i have another booked for Monday as i'm not sure if this is going to work. TMI alert..........had a bit of a red mucus this afternoon and niggle cramps, but was told to expect that anyway and it hasn't let to anything so feeling a bit dissappointed. I'm trying to prepare myself for the fact I could be induced, I just can't see how else she will come out otherwise. I'm still 3/5ths, 41cms and she's bashing my bladder and cervix constantly, but I must have a very strong cervix as its not giving way.
I feel very nervous about being induced. Has anyone got any stories or personal experiences they could share please?
Re grobags, I thought they could go in them from 7lbs not 7 kgs, might be worth checking.0 -
How do you get individual quotes to come up, when i've tried to do that I get the whole post and have to delete out the bits I do'nt want.
Even when I have highlighted the passage I need and then pressed quote it still brings up the whole post.0 -

Good luck Bailey - the red mucousy show must be a good sign that at least something is happening. :grouphug:0 -

 I think you guys are probably right about the weight thing for the gro-bags. Pregnancy brain or what.
The quote bit:
putat the beginning of the text you want to quote, then [ /quote] at the end (without the gap at the beginning). Then you can just cut and paste several people's text into your post.0
