Just some information for mums who are returning to their jobs after maternity leave - do check out how much annual leave you have accrued via your hr dept asap before going back. My hr dept only did this after I had been back a month - and I have an awful lot of leave to take, which would have been more useful to take before we started DS in nursery and had to pay childcare.
Apparently I accrued annual leave even during my unpaid mat leave. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
Also, if you've been on unpaid mat leave and are in the company pension you should get the opportunity to make up your payments so you don't lose any time out of your membership.
I've been off for 6 months and work 3 days a week, and my payments to make up my membership amount to only £178, which will be really worth paying in the long-run. This is a government pension, but I expect others will be similar.

Hi my 6 week old is currently on infant gaviscon for reflux does anyone know if you can give infacol alongside this
thanks for help0 -
Hi hobo - I'm not sure - I know you can give Infacol and gripe water together, but I've never used Gaviscon. If you have a pharmacy nearby, they should be able to tell you.
The best thing I can recommend for reflux is a really big blanket. Doesn't stop them vomiting, but it does spare your carpet a bit. Wish I'd thought of it sooner....."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
they don't have the same ingedients so they should be ok, but i would check with a pharmacist first just to be safe0

I'm starting to get a bit worried about Charlotte. She's 9 months next week, but she's not sitting up yet.
She'll sit sometimes if you put her in a sitting position, but as soon as she moves she falls over. She doesn't try and put herself in a sitting position. She's not crawling and gets around by rolling from back to front and spinning herself round to change direction. She bounces well in a door bouncer and enjoys that, but the rest of the time she seems to prefer lying down to sitting up. She was 4 weeks prem, so they said she might be a little slow at some things, but I think I'll pop her to the clinic next Monday and mention it.
She has found a novel way of moving. We have wood floors downstairs, so she wiggles herself so she is on her back with her legs tucked up and her bum pressed against the sofa. Then she quickly kicks her legs straight, and slides headfirst across the floor at top speed :rotfl:Here I go again on my own....0 -

Hi Hobo. My DS is now 16 weeks old and was diagnosed with Reflux at about 5 weeks. We have tried alsorts - gripe water, infacol etc and are now on a mixture of infant gaviscon (in every bottle), ranitadine and domperidon (3 times a day). There is no problem mixing infacol or gripe water with any of these.
One thing you might want to mention to your HV is about weaning your baby early. Our HV suggested it and the consultant at the hospital agreed so we have been weaning him since he turned 13 weeks. He is now having two meals a day (about to move to 3) and has just started sleeping 12 hours at night - so although he is stick puking for England he is a much calmer, less techy baby.
At the moment you are probably going through about 10 changes of clothes a day and more muslins than you could have imagined. Please be assured it does get easier. Good luck. If you have any queries PM me.
Sarah
Forgot to mention - we also tried Colief in his milk and he is now on Nutramigen (a lactose intollerant milk) - so it might also be worth trying him on a different milk to see if that makes any difference£2008 for 2008 club member 3360 -

or any other problems, so hopefully it's just her being a stubborn little monkey.

Hobo, I echo what Sarah says, spot on!
With Jack he was diagnosed around 4-5 weeks, had gaviscon in every bottle, we also used gripe water and infacol until he sat up at 6 months and could burp himself. It sounds like Jack's reflux wasn't as bad as Sarah's baby as he had outgrown it by 7 months, when I took him out and forgot the gaviscon and he didn't puke very much. He was on nutramigen from 11 weeks (after much puking from him and tears from me from exhaustion) and he brought himself off that at 8 months, just wouldn't drink it anymore. Fortunately it was reflux and not a dairy allergy, but at the time we weren't sure as he developed excema at 3 months.
He's now 14 months old, walking around and eats mostly everything I offer him, dairy or otherwise and on cows milk too.
Honestly it does seem like it will never end, but it does and i'm super equipped to deal with it again with this baby but I'm hoping she will be MUCH easier than Jack was.
Speaking of which I spend Friday night in hospital as we thought she was going to make an appearance. Saturday was my birthday so not quite the lie in and waking up to my husband i had imagined! But at least my birthday is still mine and she'll have her own day. Had more twinges again this evening, so i'm just hopefully waiting to see if they progress.......i've truely had enough now of being pregnant.
I'm over 37 weeks, I can go to my birthing centre and we are all ready on standby.
Just hope she is listening.......
Becles, I don't really know what to say about Charlotte, apart to mention it to your HV, just to see what she says. I'm sure if she is developing well in other areas its probably due to her being unbothered and laid back (quite literally!). My friend's baby (P) is 2 days younger than Jack and she has 2 teenage sisters. P is very laid back not bothered about much at all, she has been much much slower than Jack at sitting up, crawling, cruising and hasn't taken her first steps yet at 14 months. There is nothing wrong with her, she's just in no hurry. Maybe its because she has lots of other people around her, her older brothers etc, she feels no need to try yet.
I've a feeling this baby won't be as quick as Jack to reach milestones as she'll have Jack running around the house all day and be content to watch him.
Does that make sense?0
