becles i worried about charlie as he wasn't sitting up, but then within about a week he went from lying to sitting to pulling himself up, and then walking by pushing a toy along the room. It was almost like he had been saving it all up until he knew he could do it, although that probably sounds weird.
Mention if worried, but don't get too worried.
bailey you still here hon? Sounds like it could be any day soon for you - sincerely hope so for you. I am officially entering late pregnancy next week, and can't wait for this to be over, so i know how you feel. I have pulled my back again tonight as i was bathing charlie. He went to jump onto my knee and lost his balance and fell backwards, and i just grabbed him to stop him hitting his head, but nearly dropped him. I must have twisted funny, not that there is much manouverability any more.
I always thought 2nd babies were quicker at doing stuff as they want to join in. I bet there will be some difference between them though.
Sicky babies - i don't think i knew i was born really - charlie loved his food too much for any to come back :rotfl:
Right - best go as i want to get sorted for work tomorrow, and i am just putting it off. computer off.

Thanks to everyone for their advice we give her infant gaviscon in every bottle and it does seem to have helped the sickness to some extent (no longer being changed 8 times a day!) but she is crying a lot and I think she is having a problem with wind she goes very red in the face and seems to be straining a lot, pulling her legs up etc that is why I am now going to try the infacol. The milk she is on at present is aptamil had thought about changing her to easy digest aptamil to see if that would make a difference has anyone tried this?
Does this sound like a problem with wind from anyone who has dealt with it before?
Sorry to be a paranoid parent but so unsure what to do for the best0 -

Danny had (has) terrible wind troubles, his stomach was like a barrel at one point, so big that the HV said she had never seen one so distended, and the GP took one look and got us an appointment at the hospital,
we changed his milk from Aptamil first to easy digest and the change was instant, much less wind, stomach went back to normal etc
but there are still problems, the paediatrician said it didnt feel like there was actually anything wrong with his stomach (there were concerns he had a twisted gut) and it could be that he is mildly lactose intolerant,
we are going back in a few weeks to give samples of blood, pee and poo just to make sure its nothing serious,
he is putting on weight well (infact he is a proper chubber) but he still makes an awful row when poo-ing, lots of straining, bright red and he makes a ton of noise, he doesnt cry as much now... but it still hurts him.
easy digest is a pain to get hold of where we live, we either have to go to an Adsa about 20 miles away or order it in from Boots in the next town, but it does the job, its much thicker so you need at least medium flow teats
but i really dont know what we would have done without it!0 -
Another thing I remember doing with Jack as the gaviscon tended to make him constipated (might be wind related with Danny and Hobo's baby) was to give him poo juice in his night bottle. It would guarantee a morning poo, soft and easy to pass.
I know I've said this before, but if you haven't read my posts, I put some dried prunes into a bowl and soak with boiling water for 12-24 hours (if your in a hurry you could microwave them to a stew). Then when making up bottles, say his evening one was 7 ozs, I would do 6 or 6.5 water and half to an ounze of prune juice. I would tea-strain it into the bottle to avoid clogging the teat with bits. It works and you could fiddle with the amount needed as you get to know your baby.
Now he is older I just soak the prunes, make lumpy puree and then ice cube them. He has one or two with his weetabix in the mornings to sweeten it and to keep him regular.
An easier way to make poo juice would be to buy prune juice already in a bottle, but its expensive and you would never get through a bottle before the date went, unless the rest of the family were prepared to drink it.
Hope that helps with the straining and red little faces.0 -
CG, I was wondering if Tesco sell easy digest aptimil online and you could bulk order using codes from the other forums. Then it would be delivered to you without you making a journey. Alternatively if you are ordering from Boots in another town, if you ask nicely maybe they would send their stock to your local branch, to alleviate your journeys. that way they are still getting your business but you dont have the travel, especially with LO's.

Thanks for the advice on sitting. I can't remember what Joshua did, but James was walking by 9 months, although I know he was very early!
Charlotte wants to move and gets frustrated when she can see toys out of her reach but can't get to them. She just lies on her tummy flapping her arms and legs up and down and cries!
For the babies with wind and poo problems, have you tried baby massage? I was taught a colic routine. Put a tiny bit of baby oil or baby lotion on your fingers so they rub easily over the skin. Then lightly press on baby's tummy and draw an number 1 from their rib cage to their hip down their right hand side. Then draw a number 7 starting from the left hand side going along under their ribs and down the right hand side. Then a U shape from the left hip up, under the ribs and down the right side. Repeat a few times.
Also if you "walk" your finger tips from side to side across baby's tummy, you can sometimes feel the wind and press on it to help it move. It feela a bit like popping bubble wrap!
Hope the babies feel better soon. I know it's a nightmare now, but they will grow out of it in time. Charlotte is fine now, and just has the odd mouthful of sick and no tummy pains or poo problems. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Hey guys, any advice about how long a cold can last in a 3.5 month old? Joseph had a fever last week, which thankfully went, but we have lots of snotty sneezing and coughing left behind. I am doing nothing to help, other than keeping his head slightly elevated at night.:wall:0

I don't know about whether they're meant to be different in babies but I've still got a cold that started two weeks ago (Alice had it for about 10 days). I think there's some quite nasty colds going around at the moment.0

Natasha seems to take ages to get rid of colds. The 'very ill' stage only lasts a few days, but the coughing, snotty, cranky stage seems to go on for about 3 weeks afterwards.
Hope your little one feels better soon Agutka."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
I love the lil' man, but it is gross when he sneezes. Thankfully I haven't caught anything yet, even though he's been trying really hard to give it to me.
Oh well, I'll give it another week then...:wall:0
