SeptemberBaby, I got quite upset about the hair loss too, so you're not alone in that. In fact I posted a thread about it on here because i was so stressed about it, and it went on for so long.
It's stopped now, thankfully, but I lost a LOT around my hairline, and not just the extra pregnancy stuff, because it's now growing back, and I have a spikey bit round the front and sides that takes me ages to tame.

Hi All!
I thought it was about time I said hello & moved over here! Ruby is now 3 weeks old,I can't believe how quick the last 3 weeks have gone!
Here we are resting when Ruby was just a couple of days old:Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:
I'm hopeful that this get's me out of cooking Christmas dinner!
Baby Ruby arrived after 55 hours of labour & an emergency c section on Christmas Day at 14.41 weighing 6lb 6oz...And yes I did get out of cooking Christmas dinner!!:rotfl:0 -
want to cry. Just used some wartner aerosal thing on my thumb and spilt some on my cracked hand which is not advisable anyway - then realised that i am not supposed to use it whilst pregnant. Feel so stupid. Not sure why it isn't suitable or what it can do. Any advice?now mum of 4!!!0

Thought i would pop in and say a quick hello to everyone.
The weeks are flying by here, I am now 24 weeks pregnant, and just entering the horrible sleepless bit at the end, which doesn't seem fair as i was only feeling ok for about 4 weeks, but oh well.
We are doing a fair bit of decorating, to tart up the bathroom and swap around the bedrooms so our bigger bedroom can be a kiddies bedroom plus playroom and we can have some of the living room back.
I have also booked myself in for a 4d scan to help me bond with this baby as i have found i am too busy to have thought very much about the new baby, and we found the mclaren double buggy we wanted at 40 pound off in the sales, and had 60 pound of vouchers from our credit card, so a fantastic saving there, otherwise, we are completely unprepared.
It is lovely to see so many updated piccies of the babies.
i am trying to think back to what we did with charlie and i am sure i have forgotten loads and he is only 15 months. I do remember though that we had the bouncy chair from about 2 weeks - on of the fisher price ones with a light bar, and it provided a much needed bit of sanity in the early days. That will be one of the 1st things to come down out of the loft again.
The plan is we are all decorated by the time my maternity leave starts at Easter (20th March) and then i can spend some time sorting stuff out like clothes etc then, but hopefully the bump agrees with that plan. I keep feeling it will be here early to join us with the amount of running round i seem to be doing.
Anyway, best go and do the washing up, DH is decorating at the minute, so he won't want to do that as well. :rotfl:
Glad to see you all in good spirits.

Hello,
Thanks for the replies...i'm no good at doing the quote thing so bear with me.
susancarter-I think the snuggly is a nice idea, I got him a little reindeer fleece square with a head on it for xmas not really sure what to use it for at the time but it will be perfect for this although my first thought was "Is he not to old to introduce this"..I say this as a friend of mine has a son who has been comforted by one of these since he was born type thing....i will still try it though. Also trying to express is a big no no as I just can't really get anything substantial out at all and it just becomes painful.
Jo_b - I think the majority of it is for comfort although I still sort of feel the "let down" and he does have a good few gulps although granted probably less than 20 secs worth and if I go by a gulp a second then he's prob down to about 10 gooduns.
izoomzoom- He has quite a varied diet I suppose, He loves his weetabix for breakfast norm has 1.5 - 2 and has it quite/very milky,(he not keen on porridge)- for lunch I generally do a selection of cheese chunks, ham, cucumber, blueberries, philly sandwich, pieces of apple/orange/banana etc or he'll have cheese on toast which he loves and a yogurt, or I also offer a jar of rice pudding/custard type thing, tea time he'll have things like pasta spirals or mash, vegetables, anything we sort of eat although friday night is egg n chip night so he'll have scrambled egg with beans and jacket potato or croquet etc as I won't give him chips (even though they oven ones)...that sounds daft doesn't it.
Actually reading what I've written makes me realise that i should be offering more snacky things in between meals and also must say that he doesn't tend to get full up on foods we give him....i say this as with DS3 (after a gap of 10 yrs between DS2) when we started to wean him..EVERYTHING was cooked from scratch, frozen in ice cube trays etc....this time I just haven't had the time nor the inclination and feel VERY guilty about this hence the majority of weaning has been organic jars which I think has made him fussy as he'll only have the pasta ones not the hot pot meaty potatoes type ones...but he'll fill up on the stage 3 jar and pick at finger foods etc...i have tried offering the "proper food" first but he just ends up really hungry.........
So sorry this is so long....you're all probably so bored:eek:
Oh and izoomzoom if you have time i'd love to read your full run down!!

Sorry I haven't been around much. I've started back at work and I've been helping my husband set up forum on another website.
Just wanted to say hello to all the new mam's and babies, and hope everyone else is feeling well. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Yorkshire chick - try a little vaseline on his legs where the patches are. This might stop the irritation.
3kids - don't worry hun, I'm sure it'll be fine. We all do stuff like that every once in a while. If you're really worried call NHS direct and they'll give you the answer from a medical point of view.
Julie - We've just got Imogen off her night-time milk. It was bottle but still the same principle I guess. She has tea, snack (milk to replace bed feed & biscuit/toast), bath, story then bed. We introduced the story first when she was still having a bottle so she finished the milk, then sat up to read the story together, then put in bed. We then moved the milk to her supper time (she previously had a bit of water). She's taken to it really well and we've had no problems.
I agree with lots of the other advice and it does sound like you're being used for comfort rather than nutrition! On taking cow's milk, how about diluting it in water and gradually upping the milk-water ratio until he's having just milk? Might work.

Hi I have a month old baby girl and have had to stop breastfeeding and put her onto formula looking for some advice as to how long you can prepare the cooled boiled water in advance? I know you cant add formula until about to use, also do you heat the water back up a bit before adding formula or use it at room temp? Do you put them in the fridge after water has cooled or can you leave them out?
She is also quite sick after being fed and all my health visitor could say was some babies are quite sicky wondering if I should try a different milk (she is on aptamil just now) or if anyone has any tips
Sorry for all the questions just unsure what to do
Thanks0 -
those were the days!!
i used to sterilise all the bottles in the morning and add the required amount of water to them all and store them on the side at room temp.
i would just add the powder as needed. kennedy would take her milk at room temp so no warming up for us. we used aptamil with great success so don't know what else to advise.0 -

I used to store about half a dozen bottles of cooled boiled water in the fridge. Then I'd bung them in the microwave long enough to bring the water back up to room temp, perhaps a little warmer, then put the formula powder in and give it a good shake to ensure no hotspots. I found it mixed in best when the water wasn't chilled. I don't think that it is necessary to keep it in the fridge, but I was just happier from a bacteria point of view as I stopped sterilising at 6 months so I was careful in other ways.
Also if you search this thread for aptimil (that spelling brings up the results I'm referring to, no idea which is correct!), there is much discussion and it seems to be the preferred formula of mse mums as it is meant to be closest to breast milk. I used farleys for both of mine with no issues at all, it was the one DH chose when he went to the supermarket - we did no research lol. However SMA gold gets quite bad reviews from the mse crowd, so I'd be tempted to steer clear of that one if you are tempted to try others.0
