Perhaps boiling mine in a pan is what's causing the soreness?:rotfl:
Ooooh, she's very discerning, isn't she Becles - good girl!!! :T"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
I am so pleased because I've been cooking my own baby food (although am using some jars too), but up to now I have been pretty unadventurous (carrot, carrot and swede, carrot and apple, pear and apple......if it doesn't contain carrot or apple, I can't cook it!)
Anyway, a few days ago, I decided to make some batches of baby food and freeze them - I made carrot, lentil and apple (note the adventurous inclusion of lentils!), and then I went a bit mad and made roasted butternut squash and sweet potato, cheesy courgette and brocolli pasta, mixed vegetable pasta, peach rice pudding, apple and pear with cinnamon, and butternut squash risotto!
Natasha has tried them all over the last couple of days, and has eaten every one! :T :T
I have 17 portions still in the freezer!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Those dishes sound lovely. Glad to hear Natasha is enjoying them.
Charlotte seems to like savoury dishes in a tomato based sauce best, like spa bol, sausage casserole and stuff like that. She also still likes the beef in aleHere I go again on my own....0 -
Wow, Snaggles, who needs Annabel Karmel when we have you! :rotfl:

Lol, Annabel Karmel!! You might be able to tell from my post how surprised I was that someone.....anyone....enjoyed my cooking! That may give you a clue as to how well I can cook usually!
I'll try her with spag bol next I think - I gave her a taste of some pasta in tomato sauce we had the other day, and she seemed to like it."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Hiya Ladies
Just wanted to say a big thanks for all your suggestions, the nipple protectors seemed to have worked (I sterilised them, but haven't had to use them), and with a lot of revision on how to latch on, feeding Sammy is no longer the agony that it had become.
My nipples are still a bit sore, but I am sure they will heal completely in the next few days. My arms ache from holding her in a different position, but much better than sore tits !!!
We are off to the clinic shortly to get her weighed, but I am sure my reluctance to feed her hasn't had any long term effect of her.
Now, we are a three child household, and elder two are 6y and 8y. The boys are obviously at school all day, so it is just Sammy and I during the day and I have been bathing her about mid day because come after school, between doing dinner, homework and getting boys bathed and into bed, there is a lot of things happening in that part of the day (4pm-8pm time slot)
A down side of this is that come evening time - about 5ish, Sammy wakes up and between frequent feeding and winding etc etc, it has been 10 / 11pm before we have settled her down for the night (which she does fantastically - last night went from 11pm to 0745 this am  ) but this is taking its toll on my hubby as he can't settle or relax until very late at night. He just looks terrible at the mo.
Anyway, I have decided to bath Sammy later this afternoon - perhaps about 5ish (although how I am going to juggle this with homework / dinner I don't know) and as she usually settles quite well after a bath (actually its probably exhaustion because she cries so much) hopefully she'll be able to get off to sleep at a slightly more reasonable time ???
What do you think ???0 -
Natasha started off with really late bedtimes - the first few days it was roughly midnight when she finally went off to sleep, but then she would sleep through till morning. Then gradually we have managed to move her bedtime forwards, and now at 6 months old she is sleeping from around 8pm to 7am. :T
Although, I have to be honest and say this child could sleep for England (the polar opposite of her insomniac Mum and older brother, but just like her Dad).
It sounds as though you are already doing brilliantly at getting her into a routine. Hope the change of bath time helps her settle slightly earlier for you."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Yep, Alex had late bedtimes too for the first month maybe, but then we started putting both boys to bed at the same time. They get bathed at 7, well Alex has a shorter bath followed by a mega long feed (my chance to lay down and read some mags
) and is usually in bed at 8 or just after. It works for us, even though he's still up twice a night , but I'd rather have a child-free evening even if it means being woken up a couple of hours after I go to bed.
Still, I'm sure he'll start sleeping through soon.
Izoomzoom, glad to hear things are going well again. :T
Snaggles, those dishes for Natasha sound great! I'll be taking notes0 -
I never did daytime baths with my babies.
From newborn, I would do a bath then a feed in my bed around 11pm, then go to bed myself. Once the baby started sleeping longer through the night, I'd keep moving the bath and feed back half an hour or so, until we're at the stage now where Charlotte has a bath at 7pm and then a feed and bed, and she goes right through till 7am.
In my mind I like to think the baby thinks, "oh it's bath time, that means I need to do my really long sleep now" - if that makes sense!
It worked for me as they were all sleeping from about 10pm-7am from about 8 weeks old, so I never really had long periods of night feeds to deal with. I'm no good if my sleep has been interupted, so it worked well for me!Here I go again on my own....0
