My nipples are still a bit sore, but I am sure they will heal completely in the next few days. My arms ache from holding her in a different position, but much better than sore tits !!!0

hey Zoomy, we bath Daniel at about that time...
I had a strict(ish) bedtime routine with my DD and im starting to introduce it with Danny too, in the evening its bath, feed and straight to bed.
and he only sleeps in his cot at night so that helps to get the idea into his head that the long sleep comes at night!
slowly the bathtime/bedtime gets earlier and earlier but in these newborn days its pretty late (OH and I are both night owls anyway and have always gone to bed at stupid o clock, so it doesnt bother us)
update on our visit to the HV,
last thursday when they weighed Danny he had lost loads thanks to that stupid SMA milk (and all his other little problems thanks to the jaundice) and was only 7lb 11 1/2ozs, well this week he is back up to 8lb 1 1/2ozs!!
we are so pleased! i told the HV that he was a completely different baby since the change in formula and she said she had never seen such a dramatic change just from switching milk!
this time last week we were lucky to get an oz of milk into him every 5 hours, he wouldnt wake up to feed and just wasnt interested... this week he is waking up regularly screaming his head off, sucking his fist and biting your cheek because he is so hungry.... we couldnt be happier0 -
CG, I am so very very pleased for you!!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Hi everyone,
Im not quite ready for this thread yet but someone suggested on the pregnancy thread that i might be able to get some more advice on here.
My question is has anyone got any advice on what formula i should start my son on when he is born, unfortunatley i wont be able to breast feed him when he is born which i am sad about so i want to be able to try and give him the next best thing, I have read you have been talking about formula recently and sma doesn't get a good reputation so was just wondering if anyone had any advice on if one formula is better than another.
Thanks any advice would be great

I never did daytime baths with my babies.
From newborn, I would do a bath then a feed in my bed around 11pm, quote]
OMG, you were bathing your baby that late at night.
Oh, but I've just remembered that Charlotte was born in the summer !!;)
She was born in May, and my boys were born in Nov and Feb.
Really pleased to hear Danny has put weight on. Bet that's a worry off your mind! Here I go again on my own....0 -
Congratulations on your pregnancy Mandy. Sorry that you feel sad about not being able to breastfeed, that must be hard for you. I haven't used any formula this time around, but with DS we used Cow and Gate with no problems at all. I think a few people on here have also mentioned Aptimil, but we've never tried that one."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Hi Mandy
I used Aptimil when I started mixed feeding when Charlotte was about 4 months. I picked that one as the blurb said it was the closest to breastmilk, and it worked well for us.
Hope all goes well with your pregnancyHere I go again on my own....0 -
Thank you snaggles, I have heard cow and gate mentioned not heard of aptimil though so i will have a look at that, its a mine field to me i never realised there were so many formulas.
Becles- Sounds like aptimil is a good formula i sort of wanted the next best thing to breast milk so it sounds really good, another question sounds a little silly but when you are in hospital do they do the aptimil formula or would I have to take my own, so much i have to learn lol0 -
Mandy, you'd probably have to ask your hospital what they do as I imagine it varies.0

Oh, CG, what a relief! So glad all is going so well x0
