formula is dead easy to do. Sterilise the bottles you need for the next 24 hours - put in the amount of boiled water you require and then leave on the side to cool until needed. when a bottle is required, then put in the scoops of powder you need to add, and warm if required. (to make it easier i would have one of the powder tubs that you use when out and about, and would put in it the number of scoops ready so that a bottle could be made in about 30 seconds as needed.)
I was mean and always gave charlie room temp bottles so he wasn't fussed when out and about if it was warmed.
I have to say, i had charlie on SMA gold, and i read a lot about it causing colic in small babies. I certainly found this, and am considering which brand of formula to recommend next time. One of my midwifes suggested farleys as it is the only UK brand. Some time for me to think about this though.

Mazcabs, you make the powdered stuff with cooled boiled water. Just fill all your bottles with however much boiled water you want from the kettle and leave them to cool with lids slightly loose. When you want the feed you just add the right number of scoops (I think it's usually one scoop per ounce but it should tell you on the packet), mix it up and you're ready to go. I only did it once very early on when I was really sore but others who formula feed all the time can probably give more detail on what's the best way to do it.0

I've got really painful sinusitus still lingering after this latest bout of colds and I'm seriously tempted to try some self drainage with it :rotfl::o:o
rather you than me, ha ha. I have sinus problems too and over my right eye is throbbing.
Hayden still not settling well but did skip 10.pm feed and slept from 8pm to 2am which is the best I've had in ages.
Off out tonight can't wait, two nights in a week, that's unheard of.

Can I have a moan (again)? We had another horrible night - Alex was up at 12am, 2am, 4.30am, 7am and 8am up for the day. I woke up at 6 and couldn't go back to sleep as my nose was totally blocked, so feel like poo now.
Have I mentioned that I hate colds??!!!
Was thinking as well, if babies can have Medised and other stuff with antihistamines in it, then why can't I have antihistamines or decongestants?Doesn't make much sense to me...

I can't stand it myself. I prefer dark bitter chocolate. I wonder if she'll take after me and prefer bitter sweet to sickly sweet?
Hope the visit with the HV goes well.
If it's any consolation, Charlotte was 7lb 3oz when she was born and went down to 6lb 1oz when she was two weeks old. Then she put loads on and was up to 8lb 4oz at four weeks old, and she has put weight on at a steady rate since! Here I go again on my own....0 -

Haven't officially come over and introduced myself. I can't seem to give up the pg thread, but Samantha has been born, so I really do belong here now. She is lovely, and it is nice to try and even out the sex ratio at home, as we already have two boys, but it is great being able to dress her all girly.
Anyway, as hard as I have tried, I have managed to get one cracked nipple, and I am in absolute agony. On the plus side, although both my nipples are quite raw looking, and a bit sore, it is only the cracked nipple that is absolute agony. DS2 is 6, but I had cracked nipples with him, and that took me a month to sort out.
I have tried so hard, I make sure she is latched on properly and doesn't slip during a feed, but still it has happened. The crack seems to have healed (I discovered it Friday) but my nipple is still really raw, and sore (even clothing touching it hurts). It takes me literally hours (okay realistically up to 30 mins) to have the courage to put her on my sore breast and feel terrible because she is crying her little heart out. I know that she isn't starving (and I do have some forumla as back up) but any idea how long it is going to take to get better. Oh and I have been putting Kamillosan on since Sunday.
Gotta go, she has woken again (hasn't settle at all today really) and I really can't delay this any longer ..0 -
Welcome izoomzoom and congratulations!
I can totally sympathise with the sore nipples - have you tried cabbage leaves? I know it sounds like a bit of an old wives tale, but they really do help, and I have had some MAJOR boob problems this time (the latest one is that Natasha bit me so hard yesterday she drew blood ).
Another thing I found helped was, just for an hour or so, to not wear a bra (only at home obviously...lol) but to wear a really quite tight fitting vest top, one with plenty of elastic in it. It gave a little bit of support but didn't put any pressure on my poor sore breasts, and because it's close fitting, it stays in place and doesn't rub.
It might not help you at all - I've never heard anyone else recommend it! - but just thought I would mention it, as I had/have a similar problem."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Hello and welcome! And congratulations!!
I'm not really the right person to advise as I gave up bfing due to blood blisters both times. I persevered for longer the first time and tried nipple shields which helped a little bit. Have you tried them? Might offer a bit more protection rather than offering a raw nipple.... OMG, my bum is going numb at just the very thought, you have my sympathy. I know exactly how painful it is and I used to dread her waking up. I only lasted a week or so before we switched to bottles.0
