Hi Dormouse & Snaggles!
CG, I was missed off the system as I changed my doctor just before Poppy was born. I didn't know when MW/HV's were supposed to visit and only enquired when MIL kept wittering on about when will she be weighed/when am I going to 'the clinic' etc. I have only seen my HV once in 6&1/2 weeks and the second time will be tomorrow!
Also, can anyone advise on the '6 week check'? My new doctors surgery required me to have a general medical which I had when the baby was 4 weeks old. The doctor said this could also be classed as my 6 week check but I am getting mixed info from friends saying that I should have been checked to see whether I have healed, etc?

I had a 6 week check and Natasha had an 8 week check, but I think it's different depending on where you are.
At my 6 week check though, they didn't examine me, just asked if the lochia had stopped, if my stitches were comfortable (they might have healed by then, can't remember now), how my spirits were (hang on, I've just had a baby, haven't had time to get back on the vodka yet....:D), and what I was going to do about contraception."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
i had a smear at my 6 week check as well, but i was due one.0

I think at Poppy & Daniel's age HV came to us. Especially 'cos I'd had a section and couldn't drive - the clinic is 30 mins walk away. You could always ring them up and ask for someone to call round. We have quite a few HVs. One is amazing, the others I don't really have time for - bit flaky in my opinion. The poor good one always has a full diary 'cos we all ask for her!!
CG - glad you're feeling better about the feeding. Remember, although there is part of feeding which is natural, there's also a large part which is learnt so you both need to persevere til you've settled on a routine that suits you. This goes for both bottle & breast feeding. Hope you're feeling better soon.
Welcome SeptemberBaby. I'm sure you're welcome to be part of both threads. The girls over there will appreciate you're new perspective and we welcome all comers!!
Have just put Imogen back to bed for a sleep. She has had her 4oz bottle, but turned down all attempts at breakfast, won't even have a yogurt. She's currently yelling in protest  Hope she settles back down soon. it was how much i should be expressing (and there is seriously no need to worry about my milk supply.... i could feed ALL of your babies and mine with these puppies!:))
seems it doesnt matter now anyway, i posted because i was worried he wasnt feeding enough and wether that was just me expecting too much of a newborn (never having fed by bottle at this age before) or wether it was a side effect of the jaundice
but last night he decided to feed like a piglet! so he seems to have his appetite at last
Are you me??:rotfl: I bottle fed expressed milk to my ds for almost a year! (he couldn't latch on) and although it's a few years ago (he's 5 now!) for some reason 4-5oz every 2-3 hours sticks in my mind.
(I was able to express for Scotland, and was able to express an extra 9oz bottle a day for my niece who was a hungry baby too!)
Glad it's looking like he's found his appetite, so what I've said may be of no use at all whatsoever (no change there then!)0 -
Hi SeptemberBaby - your daughter is gorgeous
Charlotte and me had a joint appointment when she was 8 weeks old. The doctor felt my tummy, got asked the usual questions about lochia, breasts and contraception and she checked me over as I still had problems from the SPD and polyhydramnious.
Charlotte got a full check up too, where her hips and spine and other stuff was tested, and the doctor asked questions about feeding, nappy contents etc.
How old are babies before they can sit up?
Charlotte is nowhere near being ready to sit up. She just likes lying on her back. She hates being on her tummy. If you put her on her tummy she either bursts into tears, or pushes herself straight back over.
She's 6½ months now, but she was 4 weeks prem, so they've said before that she might be a bit slower than average at some things. Here I go again on my own....0 -

Alice has only just stopped objecting to being on her front in the last few days. (Which is good seeing as whether I leave her sitting or lying on her back she always ends up on her front.)0 -
Hi all,
Welcome to all the new ladies, the pics are gorgeous, takes me back a few months!
Becles, in the week Jack turned 6 months, he sat up unsupported and has been in a hurry to do everything else since. Almost crawling at 7 months, 8 months speedy gonzalas, 9 months pulling up to standing and cruising around furniture, 10 months full speed cruising and standing alone for seconds, 11 months taking first steps, now at 12 months he has done 11 steps before falling down. Sometimes you can see him working out if its easier to crawl or try to walk the distance.
I will post more maybe tonight ladies but things haven't been good around here lately and although i've been reading the posts, I just haven't had time to reply.
Notes for me to talk about later, I have loads of questions:-
Double changing bag?
2 babies sleeping at night -waking each other?
Getting two to bed
Getting house stuff done
Breast feeding
Stretching pains
Age to lose the monitor?
Yes I am starting to panic and worry about it all.
I'll elaborate more later, i'm on my own again tonight, third night running!
Jack's birthday went well, I really want to update his avatar, but i don't have pics small enough I don't think.0 -

back to square one since i posted that im afraid....
he still isnt eating what i deem to be 'enough' and when we see the HV in about an hour im sure she will agree (and probably make me feel like an awful neglectful mother for letting it go on for so long)
we will see what she says....
(not looking forward to this... can you tell?)
he narrowly avoided having a feeding tube up his nose while he was having the photo therapy because he wouldnt eat.... i REALLY dont want to end up back there and have to see him full of tubes0 -
Hi Bailey, good to "see" you. It might be worth asking your health visitor if there is any help available in your area. A friend of mine who had hers close together had nursery nurse student placements. I also used to go round one morning a week to help (I was working as a supply teacher and there was no demand so I was free most of the time).
This is a useful website for household organisation. I found it via the OS board and it has quite a few useful things in it such as a three week cleaning schedule for when you don't have time for doing everything as normal.0
