Alice is nearly seven months now but she's still exclusively breastfed. We did cut the 10 o'clock bottle down to 3.5oz but had to increase it as she got hungrier again. Once she did refuse to feed at that feed (she sometimes does with other feeds too
) so OH put her back to bed without having had anything and she then woke up screaming for food an hour later.
I like the idea of co-sleeping but don't think it would work in practicefor us. The first couple of weeks after Alice was born I used to wake up lying on my back holding a teddy bear as if I was feeding it and think I was feeding Alice. :eek:0 -
Does anyone have/know where I can get a 'traditional' advent calendar? The brief is quite tight I'm afraid:
- no religious imagary (hubby is an atheist)
- not one with pockets to fill (the idea is to avoid this or I'd buy a cheap chocolate one!)
- preferably wooden or 'hand-made look'
I've had a quick scan on Ebay and can really only see one which is a tree with 24 ornaments to decorate it. It's quite cute really. There is a bigger one which develops into an Xmas tree scene with ice skaters and all sorts, but hubby thinks it's a bit too kitsch, plus it'll be about £30 with postage:eek:

I remember only too well the jaundice, the colic, the every couple of hour feeds.
if only i had the 'every couple of hour feed' problems to deal with,
Daniel is just not interested... and i dont know what to think,
is it the jaundice? is it because we swopped to formula yesterday?
if only he hadnt got such bad jaundice, then i would still be BFing him and would be none the wiser about how much milk he is getting... this sounds weird, but in all other ways he appears to be fine, he pee's, he poo's, he cries when you change him, he has periods where he is alert and looking around...
he just goes too long between feeds and then only wants about an ounce before giving up, oh... and he could f@rt for england :rolleyes:0 -
Hello ladies! Can I join?
I have finally made the transition from the Pregnancy Thread...for some reason I found it really hard to let go!
Poppy is now 6 & 1/2 weeks and doing really well. We have just put up her swinging crib as she has already outgrown the moses basket!
I have bottle fed from birth and she has had no problems so far (sorry CG! Hope Danny settles into his routine soon x). She currently takes 6oz every 3 or 4 hours and wakes once during the night, usually around 4am.
Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hi SB
Nice to see all the old faces again
She's so cute! Glad to hear you're both doing well.0 -
Hi Septemberbaby, what a lovely photo of your beautiful little girl!
CG, poor you, you must be finding it a bit of a worry. You sound a bit upset in your post so have a big (((hug))) because it sounds as though you're doing a fantastic job. A friend of mine had exactly the same problem with her baby, jaundice and then only having very small feeds. She really had to persevere, offering milk at very short intervals, and it took a few weeks but eventually her baby settled into a pattern and the jaundice cleared up. I really hope you find the same thing happens very soon. xxx"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
thanks for that... its what i needed to hear i think,
funnily enough we decided about half an hour ago that i was going to wake him say every 2 hours(ish) and try and get at least something into him, wether he likes it or not!
and we are going to see the health visitor tomorrow so hopefully we will leave there reasurred and less worried (or at least having been told its back to the hospital for more treatment)
but i have to say she might get a telling off... we were discharged from hospital 4 days ago, discharged from midwifery care 3 days ago and despite being told she (the HV) would be in touch that day to invite us to clinic etc, we have heard nothing from her...
ordinarily i wouldnt be that bothered... but after everything we have been through so far it seems dodgy that we havent heard from her,
its probably the 'second time round parents syndrome' that ive encountered all the way through having Danny,
if you have done it before, no matter how long ago or how different it was.. they just leave you to get on with it alone!0 -
I didn't get the second time round parent syndrome CG, I even complained here how the MW came round nearly every day for 10 days, then the HV once a week for 4 weeks. :rotfl: They really are very efficient round here! :T
It's a shame your HV hasn't been in touch even though you need some reassurance in your situation. Hope things improve soon!0 -
I'm surprised the health visitor hasn't been in touch too - no matter how many babies you have, you worry about allsorts in the first few weeks and it's handy to have someone reassuring you that everything is progressing well. I'm sure you are handling things perfectly though CG, you come across as such a capable and caring person on here."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

My health visitor came at 10 days, 16 days and 11 weeks. She was supposed to come at one month but didn't cause she was off sick. Maybe you've got missed off the system somehow - it could be worth ringing up just to make sure they know about you.0
