Hi :j:j:j:j:j:j
Oh how I've missed MSE!! What a sad life I lead hey?!
Happy birthday to your little one Heather. It's Izzy's birthday tomorrow. We had a party with one set of grandparents on Saturday and seeing the other set to celebrate on Sunday. Various friends are dropping in over the week with pressies for her, although tomorrow will be just me and her mainly as DH is at work and DD1 has her first day of full time school now we're back after half term and an inset day today.
Anyway, it's nice to be back on MSE, hope it lasts.
Oh yeah, quick question, just wondering whether to take Izzy to an organised fireworks display on Saturday. She's pretty confident and brave, not easily frightened by every day stuff, but possibly fireworks are a bit different. Is anyone else contemplating it or am I being an idiot for considering it.........0 -
i'm not even going to try, she goes mad at the hoover and the washer, oh and my hairdryer, so we're going to hide in the house.
and happy birthday to izzy:bdaycake:0 -
has anyone put their children in shoes yet?
i didn't want to get kennedy shoes till she could walk but i have just seen some shoo shoos and they are so cute!0 -
Iz has been walking a couple of months now and I got proper outdoor shoes for her as soon as she took her first steps. However, it is only the past couple of weeks that she's been totally happy walking in them and they definitely put her off walking when she was first wearing them. Trouble with this time of year you kind of feel like they ought to be going out with something on their feet a bit more substantial than socks - Isabel always pulls socks off, so bare feet in winter isn't the best. You can get soft shoes in Clarks for the cruising/crawling stage, so they might be an option, but they are pretty pricey for what they are, I must say I baulked at the price and it wasn't even me paying... my parents always get shoes for my two (lucky me!!). Anyway, we didn't bother, just went straight from her wearing nothing to the outdoor ones.0

Kennedy is still cruising along and shows no intention of walking alone yet, the clarkes shoes seem very hard even the prewalker ones, but the shoo shoos are leather bootees almost http://www.hippychick.com/index.cfm/children/Products.Details/product_id/394/subject/baby_amp_toddler_shoes_whitepink_side_flower
she is still walking on her tiptoes so i don't want to restrict her toes at all0 -
Yes, I'd definitely avoid the hard outdoor types as they'll probably put her off.
Your link has reminded me that Isabel used to have some Inch Blue ones when she was tiny, which were exactly like the shoo shoo ones and they were ideal for giving her feet a bit more protection when we were out and about- although once she outgrew them it was summer and she went without anything. I'd definitely recommend them as they were lovely and lightweight and so soft, more like slippers really.
Anyway, must go to bed now, ready for all the birthday excitement tomorrow!0 -
I was just thinking about asking about shoes because the NHS book says don't buy them until the baby can walk. Alice is just walking holding hands at the moment but I feel really mean not letting her walk outside. Those shoo shoos would certainly be better than the cardbord shoes my husband wants to make!0

Hello!
Hope all the poorly babies are feeling better, Natasha has the chesty cough, hoarse, rattly noises, temperature, sore throat and headache too. It's horrible for her, but with medised and raising the head end of her cot, we're managing to get her to sleep most of the night. She almost lost her voice yesterday, it was very cute!
If they're 6 months or over, you can rub a bit of....er....is it called Snufflebabe?...on their chests too."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
