Oooh, I will mix the butternut squash and the pear together then. It sounds quite nice actually. Natasha likes quite strange combinations - she ate brocolli and apple with no problem, and pumpkin mixed with pear went down quite well too (oh, I bet the butternut squash and pear will be quite similar to that!).

I hadn't thought to add vanilla or cinnamon to anything - I will be brave and try that this week. :o

Hubby likes the idea of giving her beef in ale too......lol!

DS1 used to love banana and avocado - a bit of a yucky combo if you ask me! :rotfl:

Bananas and avocados are quite handy actually - I take them with me if I go out, because they don't need cooking, you can just peel and mash them wherever you are. I was really surprised to find Natasha likes avocado.

  • ah - fond memories of weaning.

Charlie used to love strange combos too. Parsnip and pear was nice. Anything with sweet potato. He's starting to be a bit of a monkey with his food now as he wants to feed himself with a spoon all the time, and has real tantrums if i help in the slightest, although daddy can sometimes help. Really confusing times.

i had my first proper kiss off him today, he was sat in the bath and turning towards me with his lips pursed. Really sweet and made my day.

They are getting so big aren't they.

    Aren't they just.

Had to take Izzy for her hib booster today and when the needle went in, she screwed her little face up and did a couple of little hiccups of crying before she recovered her composure. Then back out to the waiting room for the obligatory 10 minute wait where she wreaked havoc, kept making a dash for the no admittance corridors and the stairs.

Tonight, she woke up during Corrie part 2 which is very unusual, so guessing it's something to do with the jab. Gave her some calpol and she had an extra bottle. All is quiet again now.

Olivia had her first school photo today and we had the option to take them into school early with siblings not yet of school age, to be photographed together. Olivia smiled beautifully for the photographer, but Izzy glared at her for all 3 photos in a very suspicious manner. She absolutely will not smile if she isn't in the mood!! Little monkey.

How did the babies get on with the fireworks?

We had some to set off in the garden for our boys. I took Charlotte out and she liked 2 quiet roman candle ones which were pretty, but then they set a noisy one off and she burst into tears - poor thing!

I had to take her inside and she watched them through the dining room window, but she was still unsure!
Here I go again on my own....

I was pleasantly surprised. The display I went to on Saturday was meant to start at 6.45pm which was already a bit on the late side for Iz, but in the end it was delayed until 7.15pm. She was starting to get grizzly about 7ish, so I was dreading the fireworks starting as felt sure she would kick off. But quite the opposite, they stopped her in her tracks and she was mesmerised. Kept saying wooooooohh, copying us ooohing and ahhhing. Very sweet.

Aha, just noticed that she is cutting a new tooth at the top, thank goodness as she only has the 2 bottom ones - very late with her teeth. Expect that was why she was waking up last night and she's a bit grizzly this morning too. The gum looks quite swollen on the other side where the tooth hasn't cut yet. Poor little love.
  • we avoided going out to the fireworks in the end with us all having been ill and me still being unpredictably sick. We watched the neighbours setting some off through the window and had the oohs and aahs and pointing though. I think it may be a couple of years before we actually take charlie anywhere to watch any though.

Charlie is teething again at the minute. He has 10 now, and another one coming at the bottom that looks really sore and swollen. Poor thing. He is still sleeping fairly well with it but has been waking up between 5:30 and 6 every morning, which is rather exhausting. I'm not sure what to do to stop him waking up either.

We had the Hib a couple of weeks ago with no problems. The next lot are the men C here, which are scheduled for 2 weeks time which happily is the day of my next midwife appointment. I deliberately got them both together, as work were funny about me taking more time off for Charlie after i had already missed time with the 2 of us being poorly. I felt really guilty then for not being with him when he had it done. Can't win when you work as well can you.
  • hi girls...
we realised that we dont have as many cellular blankets as we thought (think the washing machine ate them!)
anyway, the cot size ones are bloody expensive from places like mothercare and toys r us... did any of you get them some place cheaper? (except ebay... just been on there )

ive forgotten most stuff about doing babies bedding... is using a fleece blanket the same as 2 folds of a cellular?

my brain has gone to mush! :)
