LOL, Alex was 16lb 4oz at 9 weeks (he's almost 12 weeks now) so I'm expecting him to hit the 20lb mark around Christmas!

DS1 announced today he wants to be a policeman when he grows up. DH replied that his brother will have a great career in sumo wrestling if he continues at this pace :rotfl:
  • The spot is a lot better, the redness and inflammation has gone down but it still has a head. Horrible. She has a wispy bit of hair that works its way out of clips and brushes her face in exactly that place, so I think there must be a connection. I remember getting nasty spots under my fringe when I was a teenager, so guess its the same kind of thing. Not really what you want or expect for your 4 year old though.

Purple, your daughters have such beautiful names. I really wanted to call Natasha 'Charlotte Olivia', but my surname begins with W, so her initials would have been COW....not good!

She is 6 months old now, and has only just made it to the 1 stone mark - my health visitor had a bit of a grumble about it, but she is so bright, sparkly, happy and healthy, I'm not really worried. She's drinking and eating for Britain anyway, so I can't give her much more than she's already having.

Our surname starts with W so we had to avoid accidentally spelling words too. My initials are RAW :D

Charlotte was 16lb 3oz a couple of weeks ago when I got her weighed.

I wouldn't worry about the weight too much if the babies are otherwise fit and healthy. My eldest son has always been seriously underweight - at some points he wasn't even in the centile lines on his weight chart! He's always been painfully skinny and you can see his ribs and hip bones sticking out through his skin. He's really fit though - out on his bike every day and plays football a lot. He's rarely ill and has 100% attendance most years at school.
Here I go again on my own....

Thanks Snaggles. Funnily enough, Olivia's middle name is Charlotte, so that's a bit spooky!
  • Hi Bailey,

Katie celebrates her 7 month birthday on Wednesday. I'm really proud of myself at this fantabulous weight gain as most of it is down to me (bf for 25 weeks and still going strong).

I knew she was going to be a chubster though as she gained 1 1/4 pounds in 17 days after being born.

I have no idea how Katie is going to crawl as she hates being on her tummy - she refuses to roll over she hates it so much. I've bought her a pat mat to try and encourage her, Katie has decided it makes a lovely pillow when she's on her tummy.

Charlotte Jessica was briefly on my shortlist of names but with my surname it would have spelled CJD!!! My choices of boys names would have either spelled SAD or MAD!

    Charlotte hates it too.

I've been doing regular "tummy time" for a while now, but she only lasts a minute or so before she cries or pushes herself back onto her back. She never rolls onto her tummy herself.

She manages to move by lying on her back, and putting her feet on the cot bars or the uprights of her baby gym to spin herself round. She also draws her feet up to her bottom, then presses down on the floor with her feet and pushes her legs straight to move her upper body. It looks really strange - like a sort of gymnastics crab but with her head still on the floor.

  • That's where Katie struggles she'll spend so little time on her tummy that she hasn't figured out how to roll onto her back.

Katie has been doing the pushing backwards thing since she was 3 months old. Apparently older brother did this but could move across the room at the same age - he never crawled and walked at 9 months!

I guess I'll have to get tough and do regular tummy time and teach her how to roll onto her back.

Katie circles by lifting her legs in the air then rolling onto her side, she can do a full 360 now. She can also go in a circle when sat up! just by stretching round for her toys - she sometimes goes too far and ends up on her nose as her legs flip out from underneath her!

Alex doesn't particularly like being on his tummy either.

Totally agree with the comment about babies' weights BTW - as long as they're happy and healthy it doesn't matter what weight they are. Babies come in all shapes and sizes, just like parents. :D
  • Alice doesn't like lying on her front either. (Although she repeatedly goes onto her front from sitting up and then objects to it so I have to sit her back up. ) She can move on her back by arching her back and kicking her legs so she also tries this method on her front and then gets frustrated when it doesn't work.

Size wise I figure as long as the baby seems contented and healthy there's no need to worry.
