No ideas Snaggles re boobs, I'm a serial bottle feeder I'm afraid. Hope someone comes along with some advice soon. Remembering the pain of breastfeeding in the short time I tried it, you certainly have my sympathy.
Can anyone recommend a good thermometer? I've got a digital ear thermometer which is completely dodgy and shows a different reading every time I press the button, and we're talking vastly different (I bought it on ebay, say no more). The other one I've got is a basic Mothercare one, takes a couple of minutes to come up with a reading. So, both are completely useless for using on Isabel.
So have decided to splash out on a decent one but there seem to be loads to choose from, don't want another one like the ebay one.
They are both ill at the moment and seem to be running fevers, well, I know Olivia is as she'll sit still for me to take hers, but Izzy is being very awkward, thrashing around and pulling it out of her ear, armpit, whatever I try!
Not much fun in our house at the moment0 -
the most popular one we sell in our shop is the braun one. it's quite expensive, but reliable.
i don't have one or i'd be taking kennedys temp all the time. the only time i took her temp was after we thought she'd had a fibrile (sp?) convulsion and i used my fertility thermometer!!0 -

I've just been looking at that one actually, hideously expensive for a thermometer, but if that's the only way of getting a reliable one
I see Calpol and Vicks also do one, their's are slightly cheaper, but perhaps better to go with Braun....0 -
We've got the Calpol thermometer and it seems OK.
I don't really use it much though, probably once a year! But it seems accurate.

:grouphug: Alice hasn't got teeth yet but someone I know said that when hers bit, she stopped feeding and put them down for 5 or ten mins before carrying on so they learnt not to bite. Obviously that doesn't help in the short term but hopefully it might be helpful longer term.0

i stopped bf when kenny got teeth, she was 7 months and i couldn't cope. she bit me once and that was enough. within 2 weeks she was fully on bottles.
what about nipple shields? they might help till you heal up.0 -
I've no idea what to suggest but you sound like you could do with a (((((((((big hug)))))))))))
It's a gentle hug so I don't bump the sore boobies
Awwww bless you, that really made me giggle. Thanks everyone else too. I think I will have to give the shields a go. I don't think she's biting on purpose (except when her gums are really hurting), she just gets distracted and turns her head but forgets to let go first!
Oh, and we have the childrens nurofen thermometer which was on special offer in Lloyds pharmacy. It seems okay, although the shape makes it a bit fiddly to hold, especially if you have a wriggly baby in the other arm."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
i just got some bad news, my friends grandson is 3 months old. mum took him to the docs on monday as he had an eye infection, the doc said he wanted a second opinion and took him upstairs to where the community opthalmic unit is, they had a look at him and they think the baby is blind.
i'm speechless, i don't know what to say to my friend at all, her daughter went to collage with me so i know her too.
they are going to the hospital next week to get a full check up, but the gp is almost certain that he can't see.0 -
Oh no Heather, what a frightening thing to find out. She must be terrified. I wish her all the best in coping with it - I'm sure she will, and so will the baby, but there will be some major challenges along the way I would think. It just makes me realise how lucky I am really."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250
