Have you tried putting a rolled up towel under baby's armpits when they are on their front? It tends to stop them banging their nose on the floor when the run out of strength in their arms. Might be a useful trick while they don't like it, then you can take it away when they are confident on their front for longer.
Imogen started crawling about three weeks ago and now just wants to be on her feet all the time. Although she's been late-ish crawling we think she may be early walking, eek! She hasn't figured out that she can pull herself up on things though, and I'm not encouraging it! So she only gets to walk/stand up when one of us is around. I've started standing her up in her cot and letting her hold on the top. She rocks back and forth so hard she shakes the cot!!
If we'd had a boy we would have named him Harrison Albert. The name Harrison can be traced back in my family to the 1700s (I have the family tree) and was hubby's grandfather's middle name. Albert was hubby's dad's name, but he died when hubby was 12. Unfortunately our surname begins with T so he would have been HAT, but we decided to live with it as our reasons were so personal. We insist on using Imogen's middle name on things or she'd be IT! IBT isn't too bad.MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
Alex's initials are AOL
which is a bit funny (although I'm thinking AOL might not even exist when he's an adult, or at least they might change its name) but I guess it could be worse.

I tried the towel trick but Alice pulled the towel out from under her to play with so it didn't work.
I looked at the three letter word section of my scrabble dictionary to make sure we weren't choosing any unfortunate combinations. For girl names I also looked at what they could be given that their surname could change to anything if they get married.0 -
kennedy is KLM
wonder if she'll get free flights!0 -
I've been trying Charlotte on drinking water, but she isn't very keen. I've tried both a bottle and a sippy cup, but she tends to take a mouthful then let it all run down her chin
Today I tried water in a bottle with a splash of pure apple juice in, and she loved that. I'll just have to gradually make it weaker over time until it's just waterHere I go again on my own....0 -
I tried giving Alex some expressed milk in a bottle yesterday, and he wasn't impressed. He took a tiny bit, so I guess if he really had to, he would be able to take more.
The whole expressing and sterilising malarkey is such a faff though, so I can't say my heart is really in it.0 -
We use our steamer to sterilize as it's less faff than a "proper" sterilizer. When we went camping we had to boil the stuff on a trangia. I don't think we'd really thought everything through when we decided to go camping with a three month old.0

LOL Susan, you're a brave woman! :T
I use a microwave steriliser but even find that a hassle. I'm so lazy0 -
Arrrrggggghhhhhhh..........I am sooo fed up with sore boobs
A while ago I went through a phase of getting blocked ducts and being constantly in pain, but then it suddenly cleared up.
But since Natasha has had teeth, she's been regularly biting me and causing blisters, and the blocked ducts have started again (I'm wondering if the broken skin on the outside could be allowing infection in? Is that possible or is it just a coincidence?).
She used to drink expressed milk out of a bottle, but about 2 months ago she just started refusing it, and wont be persuaded to give it another go, no matter how hungry she is, or what bottles/teats we try. So i just cant have a break to let everything heal. I'm using Lansinoh, which helps a bit.
She's not really got the hang of drinking from a cup yet, so I can't give her some milk that way, and although she's on solids, she's still wanting milk about 5 times a day.
I feel like I can't go anywhere or do anything, because breastfeeding on the go is a lot less pleasant in cold weather...lol......and if I'm going to be in pain, I'd rather be in the privacy of my own home, and on my nice comfortable sofa!
Can anyone suggest anything before I go mad???"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
I've no idea what to suggest but you sound like you could do with a (((((((((big hug)))))))))))
It's a gentle hug so I don't bump the sore boobiesHere I go again on my own....0
