Unless they've changed things, at the end of the online application process it should get you to print out the (now completed) application form, which you sign and return to them with a cheque for your opening deposit. It sounds like something has gone wrong in your case though I'm afraid.
I've tried again 3 times. I get through to the stage of giving an email address and creating a password, and am then taken straight to a log-in page. The log-in doesn't work with the address and password.
No page to print out.
I'll give it one more try this afternoon and then give up.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I have eventually managed to contact them by 'phone after several attempts, (even though they continually assured me that my call was important to them). I figured that an 08:30 job would be best but even then all their staff were busy and when the music stopped and I spoke to an operative, I had to wait while he booted the system up ?
A couple of clicks at their end and I was up and running. Had I not already had a couple of a/c.s with them which I can now view online, I would have kicked them into touch.
Total cost, £4-36 in 'phone calls and temporary high stress levels.0 -

Sorry can't help with your stress levels as Derbyshire sent mine through the roof0 -
I had no problem opening an account with them after posting off my application and £1 cheque but I find it very irritating that you have to wait overnight for your account to update. The money is credited on the same date by faster payment but does not show until next day. They are now owned by Nationwide and I wonder if they are using the same provider as Nationwide MySave which also has a delay in updating accounts. Shame all banks can't provide the same speedy service as First Direct and Natwest when it comes to receiving and sending payments"Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

They're not a bank.
(I've seen Christmas clubs with better systems.)0 -

I think it is a reference to the point that only the main clearing banks update faster payments in virtual real time.
All the building societies I have had dealings with will accept faster payments in but their accounts systems do the updates overnight...so that any payment in does not show up until the next day.
Many building societies anyway use one of the main clearing banks to act as their collection account - hence the comment that the Building Societies are not banks and should not be expected to act in the same manner.
Obviously this is a problem for some..........0 -
"that any payment in does not show up until the next day."
Possibly the next working day?
I transferred a sum on Friday which went FP and has not shown up in my DBS account. I assume it will be updated tomorrow. I know the transfer details were correct, I did a £1 test transfer earlier last week(Tuesday) which did show cleared the following day.0 -
Coventry updates same day and they are a building society. I know Derbyshire are not a bank. I just think First Direct and Natwest are brilliant it is great to see your money appear in your account in seconds. Nationwide is their parent company and updates the same day usually a couple of hours delay. When I complained to them about delay in interest payments from MySave account reaching my bank account they said they use a third party company for this account. Derbyshire obviously use the same company. The old bacs system should be old hat now we should be able to get at our money in real time. Why does a big building society like Nationwide have to use other companies for their savings accounts???"Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0
