I'm a second time buyer and I have no idea what I'm doing either - at least you have an excuse! Our FTB sale must have been very smooth as i can't remember anything much - apart from that we were supposed to complete on a Friday and were flying out to Rome for my brother's wedding on the Saturday but the completion date was moved at the last minute and our vendor let us move all of our stuff in on the Friday anyway. Very decent.Stercus accidit0

Happy New Year to all of us in this 'race'. Although I enjoyed Christmas it was hard though, as I just wanted it to be all over so we can get going again! Solicitors reopen tomorrow and EA on Wed.
Bought some nice stuff in the sales for our new home so just hoping things run smoothly now!!!! I am now getting very excited by everything and its just hitting home we will be moving!!! (assuming nothing goes wrong!)
Good luck again to all - especially those who have been thoroughly messed around.0 -
I hoped we'd be able to get stuff in the sales but I think we'll miss them.
We'll just have to hold off until everything is over and we put the key in the door. Although I think it'll go through this time - our vendor has a house in England already that she's eco-renovating (cool!) and the builders are starting in Feb.Stercus accidit0 -

it has been a very long ordeal but hopefully all the hassle will not matter when we get the keys next friday.0 -
Hi All, we're also hoping to exchange & complete in January. We're second time buyers and have sold to a very nervous FTb, We're buying from a couple who are going travelling, so there's no upwards chain. We've had all searches back and mortgage in principle. Although *we're* still waiting for the survey report to come through, we have had our mortgage company ring to try & sell us insurance - they said the survey results are fine and our mortgage offer final is on it's way.
However there's some uncertainty about our buyer - one solicitors letter said that she hasn't instructed them yet! So I (and the people I'm buying from) won't be too happy if she hasn't even started the process - I've been wondering when we'd be getting a survey request for this place...but if she's not even sent off for searches yet it's a bit of a pain... EA seems to think she *has* sent everything off but cann't check till sols are open - today! So I guess / hope I'll find out later...
It's driving me mad - my 2 year old keeps saying 'kick ball garden, mummy' and he can't until we've moved, we've been telling him 'in the next house' since September now.
Fingers crossed for all of you...0 -
Oooh, I'd be very nervous about that Claire! I'd nag the EA to nag them (I did that with my EA - sure it annoys them but they get the job done quicker). They should have the sol instructed within days of you accepting the offer.
look on the bright side - your 2 year old wouldn't be able to play in the garden yet anyway. He'll soon be rolling around in mud, don't worry!
It sounds like you're at the start of this [strike]nightmare[/strike] process. Good luck!

Well today my vendors surveyor has rang & hes coming tomorrow. I never expected them to work so quickly
So that has made me positive.
Now got to fill in the sol paperwork , how tedious is that!
Then I think , if i have read it right (long time since I last moved) I have to go to sol with ID etc.
Vendor rang & queried curtain tracks etc & was very happy when I said I am leaving them all, never realised people got attached to curtain rails!
So 2nd Jan, very early days in my house move but looking good :j
