Day 3 for me, last night was difficult even with a patch so took a puff on an inhilator and that seemed to help. I find keeping busy is really helping and changing my routine too. Struggling like others with heartburn though, thank goodness for Rennie Rapeze!!
  • i am struggling

still at the 'envious of people smoking' stage

I even had a dream about fags last night

still, i haven't killed anyone yet so all good

Keep strong!! Don't be envious, just think how bad they smell!

Smoke free now since 24th Nov (decided not to give up on New Year as that never works for me). So far so good, I've only killed 3 people so far ;) Is anyone else on here using the nicotine nasal sprays?

  • On previous attempts at stopping when I've used patches or gum I've experienced heartburn.

But not this time (cold turkey).

Any by the way (and this is purely my opinion), cold turkey is the easiest way in the long run. Really rough for the first couple of days but then a lot easier.
  • I didn't think the heartburn was associated with my stopping smoking but it if is affecting everyone else then it must be.

Not having any cravings at all now (day 8) but I still have that feeling of how nice it was to lay in bed and watch a movie and have a smoke at the same time, I know its wrong but my brain is still trying to come to terms with what my body was used to doing, and it doesn't always like it!
Stopped smoking Jan 2007 after 23 years!

Still off the cancer sticks 12 days !!! dreamt I had a fag last night and thought !!!!!! I will have to start again, was relieved it was only a dream.Haven't put any weight on as yet, trying to eat healthy snacks.Cravings have got a lot less now managed to go to pub last week and not smoke, but gave a 21st birthday party a miss as all the people who I knew there smoke and dont feel strong enough to test myself yet.
    bye hoo
  • Good Luck to all of you who are stopping!!! I will have stopped for 1 year on the 16th of this month! Im going well and i haven't given in once! I put patches on for the first few weeks, but came off them and muddled through with my own determination! Keep at it! you will feel the benefit, better taste, smell and breathing abilities!!

    Good Luck.!!! xx
  • I'm currently here:

"Free and Healing for Seven Days, 17 Hours and 5 Minutes, while extending my life expectancy 6 Hours, by avoiding the use of 77 nicotine delivery devices that would have cost me £21.22."

and not really craving any more, but keep forgetting I don't smoke any more IYKWIM!

I had a meeting at 10 this morning, and rushed to get prepared for it by 9.50 so I could fit in a fag before it started....
Was a nice feeling to realise that I don't smoke any more!

Just want to say congratulations to you all. Reading all the various stages and thoughts has kick started me again. Particularly looking at others smoking and starting to feel sorry for them rather than envious. I want to be the one that's not smoking !

Tried twice last year Allen Carr method worked for me all be it only four months, got his second book and trying again.
I really really want to stop for good.

  • yeah i'm giving up on tuesday, i went to the stop smloking nhs thing, i would give you the number but it's different for each area, but i reckon you'd be able to get it from the nhsdirect site

anyways the reson why i'm saying this is you can get free nicontine patches from them and a free leftlet from them, i went to the one on one i'm not sure what i was expecting but she was really nice and helpful you get 2 weeks supply of patches then you go back again to get more after 2 weeks. they give you a letter to give your dr's recptionist and then you go back to pick up the prestiption.

    anyways good luck quiting,
