Anyone else giving up smoking?

Hi guys
It's now been 1month, 4days and 17hours since I gave up. Must say the first week was difficult as I gave up cold turkey, didn't see the point of poisoning my body with nicotine when not smoking, but that's my personal opinion, if I'm gonna have nicotine, I want to enjoy it! LOL! It's easier now, but fully aware that one is all it takes. Well done to you all!
My biggest motivation is how much money I've saved. £ 183.35! Hooray!

good luck with it Fishface - get yourself on here if it gets too much :grouphug:
I have been away for a few days to a work conference and I managed to behave myself :T was shocked when I checked into the hotel. There was a sign behind the reception that stated ' this is a no smoking hotel. If evidence is found of smoking in a room there will be a charge of £100 made ' glad I packed in. The bar was non smoking too which was actually quite refreshing. Anyway my silkquit totals are.... drum roll please

I gave up smoking in June and apart from a 3 cigarette relapse in december I have done quite well. I just wanted to know how long does it take before you can be with someone who's smoking without craving it? I was in a line waiting for a bus today and 2 people were smoking and it made me crave it so much.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Can I ask what actually triggered you to start again? (If you can remember)
I am feeling really positive about me stopping with the help of Allen Carr, but I guess I am a little worried about how I will feel 4 or 5 months down the line.
Morning Duncan's Mum
It was nothing more than a lapse August evening, bit of stress, half a lager hubby's ciggies in reach...thought I could just have one. But that's not possible, nicotine monster just grew back in days. It's true what AC says, one just starts the whole cycle off again. By September I was SO cross with myself because having given up so easily with AC,(after 20 years) I know I can do it.
As of today I have 3 left, back into the book and will stop this week.
I didn't get a cough, I did put on a few extra pounds, and felt extremely light headed for the first 2 weeks, bur slept so much better.
Something I noticed recurring in this thread is people reminding themselves they don't smoke anymore. I totally identified with that. I was always thinking I'll just finished the ironing and have a cigarette..just do this and have ciggie. It totally controls how you structure your day.
Sound like I'm really talking myself back into stopping..
Anyway, well done so far you all have my admiration and I'll be joining you by the end of the week.

How are we all doing?
I had a bit of a wobble yesterday, didn't give into the urge but it was quite hard which I found surprising as I thought it was going to get easier!
My silkquit meter is looking fab and has these stats:
non smoker for 1 week 3 days and 19 hours!
Saved £54.08 by not smoking
I have not smoked 432 cigarettes, oh. my. god!Stopped smoking Jan 2007 after 23 years!Cigarettes NOT smoked = 240,945Smoke free days = 11 Years :TCash saved so far = £125,45,110 -
Hi all,
Oh my goodness...I must be really weird because I've been feeling really panicky since Sat when I decided!! So far have gt through today but trying to keep busy & just about to have a lozenge but admit that I feel I'm climbing the walls....this is the time of day that I smoke (eve when at home with TV & chilling!) so limited amout that I can change! Have been trying to have healthy snaks & have been munching all day even though I dont normally smoke in the day. Am seeing the nurse, hopefully n Fri to get some NR stuff as its s expensive to buy them but trying not to use this as an excuse meanwhile!! Must go wash up and hide fags! Felt better last night but last one didnt feel like last one IYKWIM!! Just taking it a day at a time...Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Morning all. Well done to everyone who's still going strong - and best of luck to all those who are thinking about quitting. Go on - you know you want to!
My stats as of now are:
Smoke free for 11 days, 10 Hours and 48 Minutes, while extending my life expectancy 9 Hours, by avoiding the use of 115 nicotine delivery devices that would have cost me £31.50.
I don't work on Monday's and stay at home with my 3 year old son. Yesterday he was somewhat trying and I was probably the closest I've come to buying some fags. But I didn't and I'm relieved. I know I would have hated myself if I had.
At work today so it should be much easier today.0
