  • I am on day 12 and feeling great!

It has gelled in my mind with regards to cigs, I realise now that it is pointless smoking them.

If I lit one up and smoked it, it would taste disgusting and I wouldn't get any benefit from it as there is NO benefit to be had!
I knew this before but it hadn't sunk in, it has now! :j

I have had a few tiny urges today but as soon as I felt them, my inner voice banished the urge immediately as I now know that I will not smoke again, ever.

Knowing that I cannot be tempted to smoke is the best feeling in the world, its what I have been trying to achieve for the last few days as despite reading Allen Carrs book and understanding it totally, I still had the feeling that I could be tempted in the future when I had forgotten most of what he had said ( my memory is really bad).

I read another quit letter on a site last night that really brought it home to me the futility of smoking.

The one thing that sticks in my mind and the more you think about it, the more sense it makes is this:
    Cigarettes do nothing for you

That is like my mantra and from now on, whenever I get the urge, that is what I will find myself saying (quietly though!).

Well done evryone that's still going! :T

    I'm on week 3 now!! can't believe it's gone so fast! So far i've been a non smoker for 3 weeks and 9 hours...saved £157.31 :j .... and not smoked 749 cigarettes :j

My voice is slowly getting back to normal, I had a terrible sore throat for over a week. Heartburn has gone and not feeling so lightheaded.
  • Still going strong here, how are you all doing?

  • Hi Ragtime, still going strong thanks.

Just spent a VERY frustrating couple of hours at work trying to format a document that wouldn't behave. Normally I would have had a break for a ciggie and I really could have done with one, but instead I just moaned to a colleague (who is an ex smoker and is being very supportive) and ate a couple of satsumas.

    Stats as of now are:

Thirteen Days, 17 Hours and 18 Minutes, while extending my life expectancy 11 Hours, by avoiding the use of 137 nicotine delivery devices that would have cost me £37.76.

My 2 weeks will be up at 10.30 tonight so another milestone reached!
  • Wow Boatie, I didn't realise I had almost quit for 2 weeks, thanks for reminding me!

Just looked at my stats and it says 1 week 6 days 16h, saved £68.68 and did not smoke 547 cigarettes!

I used my silkquit meter avidly in the first few days and it really spurred me on, now I check it every couple of days and I know now I won't smoke ever again, keep up the good work Boatie and well done! :T

Was on my cutting down plan and had been at ten per day. But now I have a head cold and every single one I smoke tastes like peanut butter(Ick!!!) So am going to try and fast forward the quitting before this cold is over as I might as well go for it while I am not enjoying them. Goodluck to everyone quitting and well done everyone that has given up. x

    Go for it Bellie!
If you go the cold turkey route, then all you have to do is remember that the worse of the withdrawal will be over in 3 to 4 days, and all the stress/symptoms are temporary.

    YOU CAN DO IT.
