Anyone else giving up smoking?

Hi guys. I am now on about day 21 I think (see , I have been so good and not bothered that I am not really counting) but why all of a sudden has today been my worst day. I have really wanted to just sit in front of the telly with a cup of tea and a ciggie.. This has really worried me to be honest because I have been so on top of this until today. (Don't worry, I have not had one, and no way will I have one!!! Definitely NO WAY)
One reason maybe is I have forgotton how bad they taste. You know (those of you whom have read Alan Carr) says that they actually taste bad - which they do - but my brain/mouth whatever seems to have forgotten that.
Aslo, two friends of mine tried to give up smoking pretty much the same time as me. They really struggled from the start when I didn't and I lent them both my Alan Carr book and they really don't get it. On one hand I was feeling really smug (wrong I know) that I was doing so well and they weren't but know perversely I feel like the freak for carrying on.
Really really sorry to go on but it has hit me like a bolt today and I just needed to..........SHARE. Thank you for listening.:o0 -
Bellie wrote:Was on my cutting down plan and had been at ten per day. But now I have a head cold and every single one I smoke tastes like peanut butter(Ick!!!) So am going to try and fast forward the quitting before this cold is over as I might as well go for it while I am not enjoying them. Goodluck to everyone quitting and well done everyone that has given up. x
Meant to say that if mine had tasted like peanut butter I would never have quit!!!!0 -

Hi Duncans Mum,
I have felt the same way and have been sorely tempted to have "just the one" and it worried me as I am very happy indeed not to be smoking!
However, after reading a short ebook from the quiteasy site, it drummed it into my brain that I would get NO benefit from lighting one up.
So however bad the craving is, just stop for 1 minute and think to yourself what will actually happen once you light it and what EXACTLY will you get out of it?
I thought about it ( a few times!) and realised that I won't get ANYTHING out of it at all, I will just be reintroducing the nicotine back into my body, it will still taste disgusting and I will then start to once again smell disgusting so I realised, its just not worth it...Stopped smoking Jan 2007 after 23 years!Cigarettes NOT smoked = 240,945Smoke free days = 11 Years :TCash saved so far = £125,45,110 -
Well I signed up for free patches at work at begining of december but still have to collect them. I did do a questionaire and a C02 detector but had a rubbish result (apparently I'm a crap smoker too!). Trouble is I have no routine- I can go from smoking 2 a day to 40 a day and havingnever been able to smoke at work or in work time I am used to not smoking all night and then going home and walking in through front door "Morning Kids- back in a mo" having a fag and then going back inside. Trouble is unless the wind blows from the right where I've had ear ache for ages it doesn't work!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

Hi everyone, Your all doing really well!!!!
I had a blip the other day and made a roll up from my DH tobaco that he's left. I took 2 drags and nearly threw up and passed out. I had to lie down for 5 mins to get myself together. It made me feel ill all day.
Since then i can honestly say i have not wanted even a single drag.

Hi everyone, still a non smoker and on to my 16th day :j
Am a little bit angry at my brother today though as he rang me earlier to say he has "failed".
By this he means he bought a 10 pack yesterday and has smoked the lot!
It is annoying as he has a 2 yr old in the house, his wife his pregnant with only 3 months to go and he has already lasted a week.
I wanted to tell him off but I restrained myself lol and told him to just get back on and not to stop stopping, if you know what I mean!
Fingers crossed he can go a bit longer this time.Stopped smoking Jan 2007 after 23 years!Cigarettes NOT smoked = 240,945Smoke free days = 11 Years :TCash saved so far = £125,45,110 -

I keep telling myself that I REALLY don't want to go back to smelling like that, just hope these bad days get fewer and quickly! So you're not alone;)
Thanks for the reassurance that, that was" normal". I feel better today, thankfully, and funny you should mention the smell, because this afternoon, in tescos a woman walked past me and she had obviusly just had one, and I nearly balked at the smell. You're right, theres no way I want to go back to that.ragtimeplayer wrote:Hi everyone, still a non smoker and on to my 16th day

Ragtime, It is disappointing when someone else who's doing it fails. Don't let that stop your motivation. That is why I freaked out yesterday because of friends not managing it. Sadly they have given up, giving up. I'm sure they will do it when they are ready. And hopefully your brother has extra motivation with a todler and one on the way.0 -
My brother has also given up "giving up"
It is so frustrating when I personally haven't found it hard at all. I even lent him my Allen carr book and he still didn't "get it"Stopped smoking Jan 2007 after 23 years!Cigarettes NOT smoked = 240,945Smoke free days = 11 Years :TCash saved so far = £125,45,110
