  • Coming up to three whole days without one now (cold turkey and Zyban). It's been quite a struggle at times but I'm determined to do it. My wife, who's also quitting, was in a right stinker tonight and I thought she was going to buckle but I managed to talk her out of it (even though she didn't speak to me for the rest of the night!!).

My best tip when the cravings really hit you is to make sure you do stuff where you wouldn't normally smoke e.g. do the washing up (no-one smokes with washing up gloves on!) or have a bath etc.

Well done everyone!! Keep it up!!
    Me in statistics

    £17,831 - Starting non-mortgage debt
    25 - cigarettes a day
    4 - credit cards
    2 - big loans
    1 - big overdraft
 0 - per cent will power

    Time for a change! :T

  • Hi all :)

I am into my 6th day of non smoking (never thought I would be able to say that!) and I am feeling great!

My silkquit meter tells me it has been 5 days 20 hours etc etc since I stoppped and I have not smoked 233 cigarettes, makes you think doesn't it!

How are we all feeling today?

I can tell anyone who is wavering and maybe a couple of days behind me that it definitely gets easier after day 3.

I haven't had the urge today at all and I can go for whole half hours without thinking of cigarettes, I know this might make you laugh but that is actually a massive improvement!

The first day I stoppped, I think I spent 23 hours and 59 minutes just thinking about cigs, I kid you not!

My partner and children are so happy, its like living in a different house, we bought a new car last week and today I gave it a good clean out and realised that it would no longer smell, I really felt like a non smoker while cleaning it.
I am also ridiculously happy for no apparent reason and keep smiling to myself like someone with a screw loose :)

I think its the oxygen thats affecting me, its wonderful!

Anyway, keep up the good work peeps, you CAN do it!

  • I found an interesting site for anyone still struggling with those urges to smoke.

Its called Cognitive quitting and it puts into perspective why we reach for a cigarette even when we are quitting.

It definitely helped me to realise why I still wanted to smoke even though the withdrawal symptoms have gone.

    Give it a try Here
