how is everybody doing today ? according to my silkquit meter I am 3 days 13 hours and 5 minutes since my last ciggie and I have saved £16.13 so far ( so that will pay for the trousers I bought for £15 in the sales on saturday :o ) I was still a bit moody yesterday but so far today I havent bit anybodies head off - I havent been out though so that may be the real reason :p I am still on the patches so have lovely sticky marks all over my bum ( too much info ?? ) I would still love to have one but when the feeling comes over me I just try to say to myself to wait for a few minutes and hopefully by then the feeling has passed over. I am also not carrying any money around with me so if I did try to buy I would have to take cash out so that would also hopefully make me think twice.

  • Well, I'm still on track with my tapering off approach. Made it down to 5 on Friday and maintained that over the weekend. Today's target is 4, went 4:15 between waking up and first fag and am going 4 hours between them. Only had 2 so far today :)

I'm aiming to be down to 3 by this coming Friday and down to 2 sometime next week. The tapering off thing seems to be working for me, just need to resist the temptation to go too fast. I'm sticking at each level until I can go the interval without turning into the Hulk. Once I've maintained that for a couple of days I can knock another one off and increase the interval.

I am doing the cutting down thing too, as the other ways have not worked for me this time around. Going to do ten today(used to be about 25 a day!)See how that goes for a wee while and the reduce it further. Well done every one!!!

Well i've still not had one and not wanted one for a day or two either to all's good hows every one else doing?? i think its 6 days now.
  • I dont think cutting down works because say you normally would have 3 at breakfast, but you cut down to 1 you're need for that 1 is greater than your need was for the 3. It increases dependency I think. If anyone can justify spending £90 to stop I would recommend the stuture being the best thing, its certaonly the only thing that worked for me after several failed attempts.

    Good luck all!
  • Hi everyone and glad to hear you are all still non smokers :)

This is day 4 for me and it has been the best day so far, hardly any urges and the ones I did have have been very small ones.

I am now trying to convince my brother and sister in law (shes pregnant, 6 mnths) to stop and have offered them the loan of my Allen Carr book but they have refused so far :(

I know what they are feeling, fear!

I had it too but now I recognise it for the nicotine devil it is and banish it lol!

    Keep up the good work!

Haven't had one for a week now!Done this a couple of times before and stupidly started again and the really stupid thing is you have to punish yourself and go through the cold turkey again. It is really pathetic but I feel like I have lost a friend,I suppose we associate fags with good times like socialising, holidays, relaxation etc.One of the main problems for me is weight gain,I know it's better not to smoke but if I gain weight it really affects my self esteem and depresses me.Anyway must keep positive :)
    bye hoo

  • It's now 4 days, 12 hours and 55 minutes since my last ciggie, which means that I haven't smoked 45 cigs and I've saved £11.35.

I know from what I've read that there is no nicotine left in my body now and I've already gone through the worse of the withdrawal. I'm so pleased with myself. I really think I can do it this time.

My DH, who was an occasional smoker when he had a drink, has gone from being very sarcastic about 'yet another' attempt on my part to give up, to being very supportive and encouraging.

He's booked a table for us in my favourite restaurant for Friday night to say well done so I'm really looking forward to that.

Whenever I feel the urge I look at my quitmeter or come on here and see how everyone else is doing. Also, I've found some good articles on

    https://www.whyquit.com

Keep up the good work and don't stop stopping!
