Since I upgraded my computer, I am finding it hard to post on MFin3 - my computer gubbins is too advanced.

I am attending college at the moment too although we had 3 weeks off because we were due to move into a new building which now wont be ready until October. As we are homeless at the mo, we have to go into college and then are taken to offices somewhere else and have very reduced days. Still, I have managed to pass English for Office Skills (I think I would have received 100% for this), Business Processing (Audio Typing) - a high level pass for this one, I am waiting to hear about a Powerpoint exam and I re-sat my Excel exam this morning.

Things are a bit tough at the mo as my dad is very very ill and mum is not faring too well either as she is his carer and he has become more stubborn and more spiteful. I am also keeping an eye on my elderly neighbours - today I was given a key to their house as their son lives in London and daughter lives overseas - so should anything happen then I can gain access to the house and sort out any problems.

I decided I needed more friends so joined a Friends group initially as secretary and now acting chair - many a time I have nearly walked away from it all. Today, I have had folk complaining about travellers - I have no idea why the council is surprised that they have gained access to the park, I could have told them that as soon as they were shifted from elsewhere then they would come to our park and create nuisance and mess. Whereas, I always felt safe walking alone in the park, I am not visiting it until the travellers have gone. I have someone else whinging about a music festival in the park - claiming she could hear the music yet when I walked past her house no music could be heard from the festival at all. It is all quite shocking that the council dare run such events in the park - well I hate to say it but there will be a lot more events in the park that will get the community involved so she can shove it. There was music from 2.30pm until 10.30pm

Tomorrow I have the rat man coming out because I found a dead rat in the garden which I had to deal with. My garden seems to be a wildlife super highway. My new lawn laid over the summer is wrecked as badgers have been digging it up so it never had a chance to grow roots - dad is most miffed as it cost a lot of money and it would appear that I haven't looked after it properly despite covering it with netting and chicken wire...humph.

I have managed to clear some more debt and now have £500 left to clear. I have been invited to use the local food bank but I don't need it because I am careful how I shop, I cook from scratch and rarely have wastage. Just because I am on the dole does not mean that I do not eat well and have to rely on the charity of others.

I have been gardening a fair bit, I have a lot to do and it can be quite a chore especially as I don't have anyone to help me. Mum has grown some plants for me but due to the weeds I have nowhere to put them as yet. My garden has undergone a bit of a transformation too. I used to have a path with broken slabs and dodgy steps in it which I was always falling over - now I have a nice raised path that gently slopes, at the top of the garden I have a bit of patio which also has a slight slope in it for safety reasons and the water drains off it, the area by my water butt has changed too with some of the large paving slabs re-used so now I have a solid base for the water butt to sit on. The expensive blue edging tiles that I dug up out of the garden have been used to finish off the border in my garden and now they are along the edge of the lawn to make it all look smart.

Mum and dad have re-decorated my living room/dining room, kitchen, hall, stairs and landing. They have also done my bedroom and painted the walls in the bathroom. I was going to have a feature wall in my bedroom but the paper I wanted was £15 a roll and I would have needed 3 rolls - instead the wall is plain and I have a bargainous picture from Dunelm there instead which cost £14.99.

So much has been going on as you can see.

Are you using windows 8? Is it showing your screen as tablet form?

There should be a little window saying desktop. If you click on that It will take you to a normal desktop. And you should be able to post from thwre.
  • Lovely to hear from you Horace. Sounds as though you have some great things going on at the moment - very happy for you. I know what you mean about community groups. I've chaired our Residents' Association in the past and, although it's a great way to meet people and build a social life, it's a pain in the proverbial too! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I haven't spoken to ex hubby for a while now - he still has my record collection but he has hoarded so much stuff in front of it, he cannot gain access to it. I actually have some of his stuff here which he sent to me by accident.

I do have Windows 8 and do switch to desktop but it still doesn't work like the old one did and I am still getting used to it. It is doubly difficult because the magnifier is dreadful and my old magnifying software cannot be used on it because it is not compatible with Windows 8 so I am waiting for them to upgrade their software.

Today is my day off - although I feel as though I haven't really had a rest. The rat man came - there are no signs of rats living in my garden so the dead ones that I found (the more recent one being last week) were either using the wildlife super highway that runs through my garden or they were dropped by a bird or a cat. I have also been for a walk in the park to see where the travellers have camped. I did not venture too close for fear of their feral dogs and kids, already they have turned our lovely woodland into a toilet and have caused damage to our cricket pitch and have generally churned the grass up by driving over it.

I have been forced to put my central heating on because it is so cold (I am also a little chilled as I am fighting off a lurgy). I have washed all my glassware (bargainous items from Sainsbugs and Morrisons) so now I have some proper wine glasses and some smaller tumblers (the old glassware will go to the car boot).

I might be back on later as I need to warm up and think about some lunch - not sure what I fancy although it is likely to be a sandwich and I can cook up my bacon and free range eggs for tea (I love having friends who keep chooks).
