I think I'm having chips later... I know there's a chippy a mile up the road that's open until just after 9pm.... and they have my favourite pies but it's too hot and been a long day so I couldn't manage a pie too. Might get curry sauce .... I guess if they have gravy I should ask for that though to keep what's-er-face happy :)

    And did you?:)

BTW I'm with NDG & co in disliking mushrooms.

The chippy didn't have gravy, so I'm let off having to try it :)

It rained while I was sitting in the car eating my chips (and dipping them into a small pot of curry sauce).

    Booooo!

    I need help.

Going out with a friend tonight who is very, very cross with her husband. female friendship insists I listen with the right phrases...neither lying and telling her I think her husband is great (tbh I think he's a jerk) but also mustn't critisise him.

I think I exhausted the standard approach or ''I think you're amazing'' ''I wish I had your patience'' on the phone. I need some new material for ''don't get me involved''. They will not split up over this issue, I';m sure, but its not my place to criticise him and also, if I do and it gets back to him he might forbid us ''playing'' together in the future. Or she might be too embarrassed to.

Any stock phrases anyone else uses?

    Current favourite is "Man up!";)

Alternatively you could say: "It's all me me me with you isn't it? How about my day?"

    I've been Money Tipped!
I can't believe all you mushroom haters. I have to find some new online chums.

(Lydiaj is there anything else you and yours don't like? After a drive you'll want some refreshment. )

I think like NDG's oh with pork/shellfish I'd struggle with chickens feet. I know I would. My mother used pig trotters a bit....I'm not thrilled with that I know where their feet have been. But they do have good result/taste. I don't like fennel very much, but I keep trying because I want too like it. I like it in a salad with orange now. I find radichio a bit much, and hate it, chicory etc grilled to that intense dried bitterness. I don't like chicken or fish with tomato much, which is a weird, but I will eat it. I HATE BBQ sauce flavour stuff. Eels don't appeal. :) Or herring...stuff like that. I'm not keen ion stuff in aspic, but I like sweet jellies full of wine or fruit. I do a very evil vodka jelly that's ace.

lir I'm terribly fussy with food I'm afraid. Don't eat red meat, not a fan of mushrooms, garlic, onions. Not a fan of spicy stuff.

I'm a mare - never invite me for dinner. (I am aware of a friend who did invite me round, & their OH said - after they'd cooked & we'd left) that they'd never invite me again!

It has been very hot here the past couple of days, & the nights have been terrible. No rain whatsoever until today - Lot of heavy rain this morning, with spells of lighter rain.

Spent a couple of days on the golf course, as well as reading.

I have surprised myself in realising that I haven't bought any new music for quite some time. For someone with over 4000 cd's, that is quite a shock!

Have been adding a variety of books to the books list.:o

Alsio had a couple of days visiting York last week.:)

I just put that jelly guy on ignore and NDG, who dislikes both F1 and mushrooms, has been reported to the mods. :D

Oh, & seriously, relating to the friend issue, I constantly try not to get involved. Without knowing all the facts & perspectives, you can only do wrong imo. Too many problems come from people not completely in the know sticking their oar in.

There are of course exceptions to this. A person whom I've known for years, & is part of a circle of friends really (& strangely) opened up to me in a really unexpected way a short while back. They were in a bad place, but the most surprising thing was how they opened up to me. Previously, they had been very distant, a lot closer to several other friends.

When the conversation started, & I was aware of which way it was going, I knew what I wanted to say. I also knew that it would be quite uncomfortable, & had an internal debate as to whether they actually wanted me to give them the "bad news" as a confirmation of their suspicions.

Unfortunately, the internal debate became a bit too much for me. I know what I should've said, but I froze.

I spent the next day kinda almost organising an intervention style thing (wanted to say confrontation, but not quite right). Others were a little unco-operative (the only co-operative ones were too far away to be immediately available).

A couple of days later, I learned it was all pointless owing to new information coming to light.

FWIW, I still believe that I should have jumped in with my perspective, & I'm 90% convinced that my friend did want me to confirm suspicions. At the same time, I also believe that had I done so, it is unlikely we'd be friends now.

BTW, I have set up a small (for friends) dream team/fantasy football thing (free with the sun - spits).

The Inspector has previously organised fantasy football here. Whilst I don't wanna jump into his seat & usurp him, I am sure he has much more important stuff to do. Should I start a MSE/Nice peeps league?
