    He's 10 and DD is 7.

I'm not sure why I have so many single mattresses - 3 decent ones and 3 not fit for anything but kids to bounce on, and we have a trampoline for that. I've acquired free beds sometimes, and then there are the ones from the kids' original normal beds, currently in the garage because they have high-sleeper ones now, but presumably won't want them indefinitely. DD has had a high-sleeper before, which disintegrated, as well as the one she's sleeping in now. The mattress from the previous one is probably one of the spares.

It's partly just because I have two houses' worth of stuff - mine and his. After he died his parents gave notice on his tenancy and then realised he hadn't updated his will so I was still his executor. I had four weeks to clear the house, over Christmas, while caring for bereaved kids one of whom had two black eyes and a broken arm. I found homes for the fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, and got rid of a few other pieces of furniture, and the rest went in my garage, dismantled or in boxes as appropriate, but not at all sorted. When I moved it all came here with me. I'm gradually trying to declutter, but I'm neither naturally good at it nor motivated to put much effort into it, so it's taking a long time.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I am intrigued by 'your thing' ...is this a big thing made of hammered copper?
No, hammered silver. It's lovely :) And small ... and simple. Like me: small and simple.

I did a practice piece in bronze first - and will be making some bronze ones when I get my own hammer at home.

I'm highly tempted to have cooked breakfast for dinner!

Some of the greatest meals of my life have been cooked breakfast as well as some of the most disappointing.

Our first rainy day this morning...but still very warm.

We had some fun last night, we had a powercut! There was a storm way down the road which hit the transformer thingy and as a consequence, there was no electric for nigh on two hours. We are prepared campers (well caravaners now), and both myself and mum had candles at the ready, the people across from us had nothing, so the boys trotted over and gave them a candle, then we went to my parents van and did the same with neighbours of theirs...good thing really, in one of them was a disabled little girl who was completely freaked out as they had no light at all to use, not even a mobile as it was out of charge.

Ah, it is actually looking brighter out there now...raining when I started the post, stopped raining now and the sun is trying to peek through.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

We had a big, big fire in 1997, and a lot of the stuff that was too good to throw out but we did not need at the time went into a garage at the back of my office. Guess where it still is. :)

    Just stick it on freecycle.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

If it were just stuff, that would make sense, but it's not that simple. It has emotional connotations for the kids. They don't want their life at Dad's house to be all freecycled away.

That's a very good point. It was the same with us, after the fire. Still, keeping it for 14 years in the garage is an unhealthy reaction on our part.

I'm making slow but significant progress on my own stuff, and will move on to the stuff in the garage once the house is clear of boxes. I'll see if I can get it all dealt with in less than 14 years. :rotfl:

    I've been Money Tipped!
Lydia....would they feel better about it going to a charitable use?

BTW you and FC were on the nose about friend. As it happened I was required to say anything much at all (thank god) but I like the jerk even less now. Oh well, I don't have to live with him!
