You poor love! How do you feel now?

What did you do with your boys when you were in hospital?

Must admit to feeling a little ropey right now and the pain has returned a tad.

The boys (well the two younger ones), went to my parents. James was ultra organised and made all the arrangements, packed all their bags and made sure everything was ok.

He also packed my bag for me....and got it absolutely spot on.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

In answer to the screaming babies question....nope, that was on another floor, I was on the floor for those having gynae ops and pregnant ladies with pregnancy problems.

In fact, it was the same ward I had my hysterectomy.

Well... it's a pity, but sandboxie isn't available for the mac. Sandboxing is very low level programming, so it isn't commercially viable for them to make a Mac version. They would have to program everything from the ground up.

I know everyone thinks Mac's are invulnerable to viruses. They aren't, and Mac users are often much less aware of the threats because most malware is targeted at PC's. Which means when a security hole is found in Mac applications, Mac users are often much more vulnerable than PC users because they don't even realise they are at risk.

Modern viruses are often symptomless. That's a change over the last two years.

You know, I think that the fact Mac's haven't been targeted very much makes mac users in general 'virgin field' that sooner or later is going to be exploited.

I remember seeing the figs for computers when there were over a billion domestic computers in use. The mac figures were inflated because apparently they get used for longer (I can believe that, mine's about ten years old and does what I want, which doesn't include gaming, kindle and tunnelbear).

I did hear that for new systems the platform split is about 95% windows, over 3% mac and under 2% linux. Bearing in mind that windows stress back-compatibility but mac just brutally throws away the old architecture and runs simulations of it until the new system replaces it completely. I'd be surprised if that's a fertile ground for a malware writer to work on.

I do run a virtual PC on my mac for odd bits of windows software and worry if it can get infected but I can copy the virtual state and resurrect older versions prior to the infection if i need.

I also understand the diverse tasks the windows machines can handle but I can't understand where people find time to keep up with this Red Queen's Race where you're running like mad to hold your position against the malware trying to drag you back to the pen and paper era. Life's just too short for this nonsense!:eek:

It is so lovely having my dad staying here. Just for a week, playing at being a two parent family, almost. I know the "mother, grandfather, two kids" combination isn't quite the same as the conventional nuclear family, but it sure beats doing it all on my own. :)

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

Three cheers for James. He's amazing, and such a testimony to how well you've brought them all up. :T

The computer seems marginally slower at creating new tabs with Sandboxie, but I can live with it. My line here is pretty bad anyway and my 'puter is on its last legs too, so I'm quite used to less than instant results! Sandboxie will just create a new icon on the desktop without destroying the one you have for your ISP, so it's possible to choose which way to surf at any time.

I hope you are lucky with this. :)

I am feeling dim now. What do you mean, the icon I have on my desktop for my ISP? Do you mean some kind of icon for connecting to the outside world as such? Because I don't ever click on that; it's set up to connect automatically if it's in range of my own wireless network, or my dad's, my brother's, my friend's ... any wireless network I've given it the passcode for, so all the places I've taken it with me.

Or do you mean a surfing icon for a web browser? That would make things more complicated for me. I am possibly a bit weird, but I have my life organised in different places so I use three browsers - IE for logging into work and for one or two other things, chrome for 3 particular websites, and firefox for everything else. Without going into detail, I'll just say that I have specific reasons for doing it this way and don't want to change to only using one browser for everything. Would that cause me a problem with sandboxie?

    Thanks.

Old will remain in H for the holidays... you can't be discharged when everybody involved in that process is off for four days.... and even the simple next step can't happen until mid week next week. Would feel guilty at 'leaving them there' except they've no sense of any day being special or different to any other and the old is still uttering total gibberish 90% of the time.

And I have one of those surprise dentist visits later today. I hope he doesn't need to make up any income shortfall this month .....

I just mean the icon you usually use for surfing, which will already be programmed to go to your ISP, or wherever you've told it to go. For example, I have IE, Firefox and Chrome on my machine and they're all programmed to seek my ISP, but those icons are unaffected by Sandboxie, so I can run any of them independently of the sandbox, if I want to. The Sandboxie icon will work with whatever browser you assign to it and point wherever you want it to go.

There might be more options, but that's how I have it set up. :)
