i went to Tesco today, twas a mistake..
Yes, we made the same mistake....went to Tesco Sunbury last nite around 8 for some 'last minute extras' and it was hell on earth.
Most aisles blocked by trollies with a hysterical kid in the flap-open seat while mum and dad are discussing if they want guacamole or plain hummus....aaarrgghh..
Anyway, all over now
So that leaves me, Mrs Wheezy and westie to wish you all a Merry Christmas!

It is so lovely having my dad staying here. Just for a week, playing at being a two parent family, almost. I know the "mother, grandfather, two kids" combination isn't quite the same as the conventional nuclear family, but it sure beats doing it all on my own.
That's fantastic for both of you. I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
LIR, I suggest that you get FIR to have a look at the Blackberry Playbook. RIM have got so desperate to shift these that they are on offer all over the place for £170. They are not as good as the iPAD, but you are saving the best part of £400, which you can then use to heat the house above 10C.

I'd be surprised if that's a fertile ground for a malware writer to work on.
These days on PC's, the average new virus will infect five computers before being patched or fixed.
You know, 2% of a billion machines, is many millions of machines owned by people that on average are likely to be wealthier than PC buyers.
Just sayin'.
I am feeling dim now. What do you mean, the icon I have on my desktop for my ISP? .
Sandboxie creates an icon on your desktop for the default browser, but you can run any other browser or almost any program by right clicking and selecting 'run sandboxed'.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I played with one at the airport - nothing else to do. It was on a stand next to an iPad and looked decidedly small.
Given that I love my blackberry and was hoping to be impressed, I came away disappointed. On the flight I watched a video on the iPad and couldn't imagine doing so on a screen as small as the blackberry play book.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Re the pad...
My thinking is the bigger the better as far as internet devices, so...
If it's for walking down the street or out and a bout use then smart phone
If it's for buses, trains or travelling then pad
If it's for round about the house, kitchen, bedroom, sitting room then 15-17" laptop
If you mainly sit in the same place then you can't beat a PC, 19"-27" monitor and a good keyboard IMO
Course, nothing wrong with getting a pad as well for around the home but for me the PC/ laptop comes first.0 -
Shopping over. Well, apart from nipping down to the local co-op to pick up some more broccoli because I underestimated how much we'd get through. But we can double that up with a walk to show my dad where the park is and where DS will be going to school next autumn.
There are various friends/goddaughters/brothers/sils/nephews/niece that I haven't got presents for yet, but I don't need to go shopping for those because I'll order them online. They will understand why they are late this year. My brothers have the same reason for not yet having replied to my requests for suggestions for their offspring/wives/selves.
I have failied completely on Christmas cards this year, and although I've written an email that can be sent to all the people that like that sort of "this is what we did last year" message, I now can't send it until I get my proper computer sorted out. Oh well, when I send it with an explanation, I'm sure they'll all feel they'd rather have the message late than be sent a virus along with it.
Sue, how are you? Please look after yourself. Get youngest to do some more of his functional caring!Sandboxie creates an icon on your desktop for the default browser, but you can run any other browser or almost any program by right clicking and selecting 'run sandboxed'.
Thanks. That would work for me. One more question, if I may..... Can you "run sandboxed" with more than one thing at a time? I often like to have both chrome and firefox open simultaneously.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Er, yes and no.
Each sandbox is almost like a separate computer, it keeps all the files a program uses in a safe area of the hard drive, and it puts itself between the operating system and the program. So, when you delete the contents of a sandbox any changes made to your computer by the program is lost. (if you save something to the desktop, it flashes up an option that allows you to recover the file to your real computer)
You can run as many programs in a particular sandbox as you like. So you can run two browsers at the same time with no problems in the same sandbox. But in the free version, you can only use one sandbox at a time.
With the professional version, you can run programs in different sandboxes at the same time, which prevents changes made by one program affecting the others.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Not too bad today thanks, had a full nights sleep last night which was great (and very unusual for me). Obviously still feel a little weak and off par but that is to be expected, the pain is there but at a bearable level.
All of my present buying has been done and they are all wrapped....middle son helped with that, all I need to do is buy some extra ingredients for the cake today, then make the mince pies and the cake and then I am all done.
Got an absolutely beautiful pearl necklace for my mum...from a charity shop! It is real pearls, originally from a posh jewellers who only sold quality items, still in its original packaging (had never been taken out) and I got it for a bargain price(about a tenth of what it is actually worth). Mum was the one who told me to look in a charity shop rather than spend lots of money in a jewellers, she was thinking more along the lines of cheap imitation ones for a couple of quid, but they all looked far too tacky for my liking until I saw the set I bought. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
