The weird thing was despite it being nothing to do with maternity or gynae, I ended up in the maternity block! Quite nice though as all the meal times and hot drinks runs were done to the same schedule as for all the new mums, the bays were 4 bed maximum and the cubicle very large to accomodate mum plus baby.

    But full of screaming infants?

The closest I've ever come to really harming someone is the day after Isaac was born. He was awake from 11pm until 4am, not having worked out day from night at that point. He went to sleep at 4am, I sank into a coma, and some idiot woke me up at 5.45am to offer me breakfast.

No-one should ever, ever, wake a new mother, I reckon, if the baby's asleep. Ever. And who wants to be woken up for breakfast, anyway? IF you're asleep, you clearly don't want it.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.
  • Isaac and I came down to Kent last night, and found my Bruv here - he arrived from South Korea yesterday morning. He's now pushed off to Bluewater (poor sod) to do his Christmas shopping. My parents are here, my sisters were here for breakfast, but are both working today, and my uncles and aunt are arriving tomorrow.

Oh is absolutely knackered - he was in Bristol on Monday, Leeds on Wednesday, and Nottingham yesterday. On Wednesday, he left at 5am, got back at midnight, and then had to leave again at 6.15am. On top of moving etc, he's suffering from overload.

Isaac and I today went to every shop within a 10 mile radius, I think. We collected the turkey, dropped cards off in the village, drove to the bigger village filled up with petrol, bought some lip salve at the chemist, bought light bulbs in the ironmonger's, went back to the chemist's to get my driving glasses, nipped into the baker's for a loaf, went to Sainsbury's for assorted stuff, and then drove to a pet food shop to buy supplies for animals assorted. Isaac had, by then, not only had enough of shopping, but also noted rather loudly and frequently that it was past lunch time. He's just demolished 6 lamb sausages and a pile of peas, and looks a lot happier.

Hope all NP are enjoying themselves.

My mother HATED the maternity ward she was in with me (in UK). she's always begged my sister and I not to do it in UK. She was woken up to be asked if she wanted a sleeping pill:rotfl:and when they'd woken her she caught them feeding me sugar water...something she had expressly forbidden. I had no idea people even did that to babies.........

its been lovely here, bit of shopping.....we went out with the idea of looking at tablets for me (apparently the choice fdh is making is between i pad and something called galaxy???). I like they are smaller than the lap top and could read on it to try out tomterms and misskools idea of reading heaven...even if not a kindle, and came home with some REAL books to read over the holidays and a wok but nothing else that dh had wondered if I'd want. The bag I'd sort of fancied (my default bag is a bit of a state) I didn't like any more. Parking was easy, shops were quiet enough to enjoy and the cafes were a bit empty so we had breakfast out then a walk (well a bit of a hobble)alongside the river before going back to the car and coming home.

I hated it. It was like being in hell. Four days of midwives and breast feeding co-ordinators and nurses contradicting each other. I begged H to take me out, he thought it was best for us if I stayed in. All I wanted to do was do it my way :(

DD was born at home. It couldn't have been a better experience.

I have ovens! And at the moment there are three men fitting the stairs carpet. I've been to the farm shop and if I'm lucky I might get to M&S before we go out tonight.

Hope you're okay Sue. Doesn't sound like fun :o

To all those with empty shops, it's because everyone is in my local Tesco. The Campari is completely grid locked, queues at the tills and fights for shopping trolleys.

LiR, Samsung galaxy tablet is meant to be good. I looked at the blackberry tablet but thought it too small compared to the size of the iPad. If you are going for one, car phone warehouse and cirrus both have reduced tablets.

i went to Tesco today, twas a mistake. But we only have a few bits left to pick up and we are REFUSING to get sucked into excessive buying.

Hooked on American Horror Story though, it's awesome.

Also, I wouldn't read books on a backlit screen, a Kindle is awesome though. Getting excited about my Chrimbo present.

The SG tab is probably the best tab but this is also worth a look...

It is one of the first with the new "next generation" Terga 3 internals (longer battery life/ better performance) and the concept seems to work well.
