I wouldn't wish what she's going through on anyone. For those who can't remember, she has Lewy Body disease (symptoms are Parkinsonism and a type of dementia that impairs thinking rather than memory), also a colostomy and entometrial cancer. She's just turned 82. And I've been gradually losing her for the last 3 years or so that she's been ill and the dementia's been worsening. When I visit, I talk to her when she's awake, about simple things she might be able to follow, but she sleeps a lot. I talk to my dad about the things I used to talk to her about because she can't understand any more. I miss the person she used to be. I know she's never going to be well again, but somehow that doesn't feel as final as her death will be. She's been a fantastic mum and I love her. She loved having grandchildren so much. I'm so sad she didn't stay well long enough to spend more time with my kids. At least she's not in pain. I'm rambling, I know, but I can't be coherent tonight. Thanks for "listening".

So difficult for you. And such a contrast from LNE, her being ill for so long and watching her weaken.

Oh Lydia, it never rains but it pours for you. Mine (and I am sure all the NPs') thoughts are with you and if there is anything we can do to help please don't think but to ask. If it is OK I will tell my DW about you and she will pray for you and my DDs will pray for you and your DKs too.

Thank you and yes please. Will PM you some RL names to put in the prayers!

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    Seriously kosher then.

    Do you drink wine?

You do post on a Saturday I seem to recall, which sort of contradicts being so kosher.

(Not that there is anything wrong with contradictions.)

I drink, but not to oblivion. And I eat mushrooms, not that there is a connection.

Kosher's grub. Keeping Shabbat is a different set of rules....

I'm a bit confused about the alcohol, I thought jews could drink. In fact, I thought most Jews do drink on friday and saturday night, and on Purim.

Jews can and do drink - a few glasses of wine is part of the Passover thang.

But wine has to be Kosher, in some mysterious way I've not mastered.

Hi Lydia, wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you and your family.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

It's not until you're actively involved in these things that you understand how hard stuff is.

We all think we'll just get old, all our bits will continue working and we'll be out/active and mentally with it .... and we all think we'll just slide off in our sleep one night. It rarely seems to happen though

    Have some NP hugs: *HUGS*

    You keep Kosher, then?

Do you have two fridges? What about the Pessach sets of crockery and cutlery?

One fridge, and yes we swap all the crockery over for Pesach. BTW, Pesach = Passover festival, which happens around Easter time. I think the 'last supper' was a passover meal?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Yes, but held a day early - on Thursday whereas I gather it's usually on Friday (??) - because he knew he wouldn't be there on Friday evening.

So sorry to hear what you are going through Lydia, our thoughts are with you.

Re cousins and 2nd cousins, I have too many to count - my dad was one of 7 and my mum one of 12 and they all reproduced copiously (mum and dad had the least with 3 children). Some of my cousins are already great grandparents.

Before my nan died, we did a list up of all the grandchildren and she had over 120 grandchildren and great grand children..in fact, she was a great great grandmother..she died nearly 18 years ago and since then, I have had a further 2 children, my brother and sister have had their children (sister 3 and brother 2 and one on the way) and of course, a lot of our cousins have had more children or grandchildren..we are a huge family, we were at one point, one of the largest in the country.

I rarely drink although I used to when younger and I love mushrooms.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
