Could you put in a planning permission request for a dwelling based on the purchase of whatever additional strip of land would be needed to provide an access (after all back gardens are considered brownfield and thus ripe for development). That might concentrate a few minds...:)

Err.... their gardens are 16' long. Conservation area. World Heritage Site 1/4 mile.

However, with this bit of land their gardens would be 36' long, and then all sorts of things become possible. :)

Sorry to read your news, lir. Big shame. :(

I know it's not much consolation, but we have suffered a lot of 'slippage' this year, not just because of the weather, but because our trusty helpers are busy being trusty somewhere more profitable!:o

LJ, tbh I'm getting a bit fed up with my toms now. We had 'soup' again today, and although it wasn't specifically tomato, that's all I could taste!
  • "Let them eat cake".....

OK, I know Marie Antoinette didn't actually say that, but I think Mrs McT must have been thinking along similar lines.

Just went to the fridge, and it's empty. :(

Well, when I say empty........ what I actually mean is completely full to the brim with condiments and bottles of champagne!!! But not a bl00dy thing to actually eat!!!

There's almost certainly a rational explanation for this..... I have a vague memory of Mrs McT mentioning something and the champagne is not of a brand we'd buy.

But for the life of me I can't think what it is.......

who needs food if you have bubbly?

I love champagne, and that fast quick hit to the head that later clears and leaves you totally sober and if you've eaten you don't get that in the same way....you get giggly and it clears quickly, but its not the same.

It's horrid... and I'll be alone. Surrounded by silence of the house, the lost old's belongings .... and thoughts/memories. I expect I'll just break down and cry for the first day, finally get that out of the way - not been able to cry/grieve yet as I had to be strong and chirpy 24/7 for the remaining old.

    .

    Me!

I'm hungry, and it's not particularly good champagne!!!

    *sigh*

    Pizza Hut delivery then.....
