tomterm8;47088221] Is there any road access? '
Fraid not, just pushbikes etc. :(
They kept trying to move us up and I just kept telling the truth ''I won't be heartbroken if we don't get it''.
Davesnave, is it on the right side of the City for me, or not? I have an annoying habit of pottering about with a radio...not too load, but audible.
Not your side.... and horrendous getting there from your side. They had my radio for 20 years and sometimes I forgot to turn it off, so it was on the World Service all night! :o

Our negotiating was pretty similar to yours. There's always another one.

At least for these guys there's nowhere else; it's a one off. :)

Rent it to them, at a price equivalent to a 5% yield on the price you'd like.... then they'll do the sums and realise they should up the offer and buy it.

Could you put in a planning permission request for a dwelling based on the purchase of whatever additional strip of land would be needed to provide an access (after all back gardens are considered brownfield and thus ripe for development). That might concentrate a few minds...:)
    I think....

weird day. DH is being relocated.. no warning,...today. Not known for how long, and he's only just bloody moved. Not sure what to do about where he is now, he doesn't want to lose it in case he's back in London in say 8 weeks, but obviously its a pain to pay for it to be unused. :( accomodation is being sorted out for him, but because its an indefinite term and they are sorting out accomodation there is no relocations or ''get you home'' package. :( He likes the travel, its part of the deal and we are both prepared for that, but to give no tickets home and expect him to go without coming home to either pack properly or say good bye and with no guide as to term seems a bit rough. :(

I feel a bit wobbly tbh.
  • Oh dear! Sorry to hear that, LIR. Where is he going?
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

    Sorry to hear that LIR.

The worst thing (for me) is the not knowing, what with all the "indefinite" stuff. The lack of timescales etc. Means you can't plan etc.

Shame he can't come home & pack properly & say goodbye too.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Not too far, Brussels....but the thing is, with not ''get you home'' package it might just as well be anywhere..I'll see what the options besides eurostar are. In any case, he'll probably be working weekends I think. :(

The positive side is I can get there on the train, if I can arrange cover here. So I'll do that a couple of times I hope. I'll have to go reasonably soon, because he'll need me to take some stuff from here I expect...a sax, some mufti....

the big thing, practically, will be sorting out cover for here. Some weekends dh does work that would cost a bomb, and some of it can't wait. I can plant a hedge, but I can't put gateposts in. One of the pressing things on the to do list through Fall was to get out anopther run of bramble and plant trees....I simply don't have the strength to do that.

    I love to plan.

DH is more spontaneous, but really is getting MSE enough to resent the financial implication of not planning. e.g. London rent money...keep paying, or let the room go? and what to do here.

Emotions are hard, but sort of get round able because we trust and love each other. The practical things are more frustrating. Its times like today I feel a: very lucky dh has a job at all and b: totally of the opinion he (we) earn that income in the impact of the job on normal life.
