buddleia
part of my front garden in destined to be apricots and purples. Its got brasher than planned with gorgeous californian poppies, and I wonder if this buddleia is too bright. Not a gardening question, a colour one. My ''rose gold'' garden is veering to wards the brash purple and bright orange. With a big patch of soft fruit in the middle and this year, sunflowers!
I also like this verbascum for the same garden.
If only similar colours were as easy to find for shady areas!
We had a buddleia (a blueish one) in a rented place ages ago, I hated that bush cos it made me sneeze
As to the colour, I don't think it's too bright, the picture on the website has very vivid colours, I expect it to be a little less bright in real.
I very much like the verbascum, would go nice with the cali poppies I think0 -

I just ordered them anyway. I love buddleia, and want some of the yellow/orange varieties too....I'd never seen them until earlier this year on MSE.
Today I saw a darling little blue butterfly on our wild borage and he will like buddleias here, I'm sure. As will our bees. These new ones can go by the gate where this year we have sunflowers.
Weather is just on the change here....I'm gonna go do the ponies early so I don't get caught in it0 -
I agree with Wheezy, the T&M picture isn't accurate. It will possibly look more like:
....which is very nice.
Our b. weyeriana is 'Honeycomb.' We have one on the roadside and one in the wild area.0 -
I'd never buy from Thompson & Morgan... caught out too many times by 'special offers' that were just rubbish.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I started looking at these after we talked about them on the dreamers thread. I [STRIKE]want[/STRIKE][STRIKE]need[/STRIKE] yeah, ok, want it. I found a few varieties I wanted after the discussion. No idea where to buy them though. Get propogating.......um, please.
Tomterm, I've only ever had seeds from T and M before. I've been browsing other stuff today. I really DO( have to decide on my pear order soon, which looks like it might be from three different places as it stands. Not sure though. I'll feel very relieved once its done because its stressing me out. The idea of training them too...espaliered or fans (eeny, meeny, miney, mo)....is starting to freak me out too. The problem when you plan to much is the deed becomes scary.
My very best value seeds this year were the californian poppies....from the V&A. they did better than the other ones off the shelf in the garden centre or T and M by post by MILES.0 -
Today it is 20 years since I married late-nearly-ex. I am not sure how I feel.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

You were so young! It must have been such an emotionally confusing time. Emotions don't just stop when relationships do....the good and the less good ones. Really, I guess you've had grief twice for him, which must have been so terribly hard and conflicting.
Congratulations on a marriage which you grew in and had an amazing family in. Congratulations in surving the decline of the marriage and all that has come after.0 -

You know what, [pictures in plant catalogues really piddle me off. Very few are colour accurate it seems and when selling something on colour as well as form then colour is kinda important. Most of the time I like something for its shape too...flower shape or leaves or something....but where I would plant it is different. That really, really bugs me.0 -
Do you still drive a silver car silvercar?
It was a dream that never became reality.
First new car that came with colour choice, I was going to pick silver but OH had just got a company car that was silver, and he persuaded me that two silver cars would look twee.
This time round I ordered silver and the car kept getting delayed, then the dealer offered me a cancelled order that was white.
